No throttle body on a Diesel. Probably an anti shudder valve to prevent dieseling after engine is shut off. Good video so far.
Diesels with emissions use a throttle body that is opened all the time and is gradually closed to create vaccuum in the intake to suck up more EGR, diesels need this since turbo boost will blow EGR out if the intake manifold. 6.7 Cummins, Duramax and many other diesels have a throttle body for this same purpose. The 335D has a throttle body. Notice how the EGR inlet pipe is between the butterfly flap and the intake manifold

Just picked up a 2011 for 1200! Had a stuck injector. They thought it was a rod knock. Put some hotshots secret in and fixed the injector.

Hey what sensors did you have to plug back in after putting the cat less downpipe off?
Only installed the oxygen sensor and one egt sensor in the new pipe.
What sensors do I leave in place when I remove the dpf? My down pipe is just like yours, however, there's 3 sensors and are 14mm headed. Do I leave the upstream sensor and remove the bottom 2? Also the rear 02 sensor stays out?
Leave the upper 02 sensor and the first temperature sensor. Everything else gets tossed.

There are cleaning methods out there. I have never used any of them. I've only ever deleted them. And I think I may have replaced one under warranty when I worked at the dealer. I got a BMW 325D -06, enginecode M57TUD30, with a mileage of nearly 450000km..
What's sad is that i dunno whats done to it, all i know is that the DPF is gone, and maybe the swirlflaps..
The regenerate-light sometimes lights up, is that because it's not truly deleted from the cars software?
It's time for the yearly inspection in 23 days, and i start to panic a bit xD

@MunkysGarage do you need a tune for just the flap delete?
You don't NEED it. You will have w check engine light without a tune. But it will still drive normally.

After the tune did vehicle run drive cycle without a problem or does it show certain moniters incomplete even after driving the vehcicle
It will show the components removed in the delete as being n/a when checking the monitors. So the computer is no longer looking for them when it does a drive cycle.
How much to do all this because I have one that is about to hit a 100k
It's about $3k for parts, labor, and the tune.

I have never seen that. Is it causing a surging idle? Or any other issues?

Two questions how long can this take for someone with some good car knowledge and tools and what would this cost your price ?
With basic car knowledge this whole process is a weekend job. As far as price goes it can vary depending on if you are providing the parts or if I am sourcing things. It ranges from around $800 if you provide the parts to around $3000 if I am sourcing parts.

Great if your state has no inspection?
Yeah only works in states with no inspection. Diesels in NC are a safety inspection only, so they don't check for emissions components.
can this vehicle now run completely on biodiesel b100?
To be honest I am not sure. I would have to talk to the tuner about that.
They recommend no more than b5, so not sure what you can do if it is tuned.
Technically no. While the deleted emission equipment will no longer be affected by the fuels emissions the injection system is under high pressure and won’t atomize B100 correctly and will do damage. On the other hand if you can come across renewable diesel (common here in CA) that you can run 100% with or without oem emission equipment. It’s 100% compatible with dpf/scr and the injections system.
@@rubensalvatierra6825 I never knew about renewable diesel. I just jumped on google now to learn about it. I always assumed Dpf/egr was the only reason modern diesel engines can't run b100. At least that's what many articles on the internet suggest. Thank you

Some of the cars I take it out. Others I just leave it in and drain the system. I usually leave that up to the customer.

How do these cars pass inspection? A great motor chocked by idiots at EPA's New supporter here returns the connection.
NC only has safety inspections on diesels.
I have a 2018 328D. what can be done to it to make it breathe better, perform better and have less emission issue popping up with something breaking down?
The n47 engine that is in that vehicle up until now has not had a whole lot of issues. There is a recall for the EGR cooler leaking which can cause the intake manifold to melt due to hot coolant getting sprayed into it. But other than that those cars don't have a whole lot of problems. Granted they don't usually have the mileage that the older cars have. But the older cars had problems with emissions stuff almost from the beginning. As far as performance stuff, tunemyeuro.com has a DPF delete downpipe and performance software kit that they claim is good for +45hp and +90tq. That is the website we used to purchase parts for the work done in this video and the only one I have experience with as of right now.

After deleting the egr my car runs terrible at partial throttle. Lots of blue smoke and misfires. But it's fine on boost
Good, maybe you should put it back, it was there for a reason.
@@fasteddy664 sorted it out in the end. Just needed to delete the DPF and apply stage 2 remap. Lots of black smoke but rapid now

Great job. How much are we talking about and where is your Shop? I have 2 of these beasts and I want to unleash those engines power for sure. I will keep one to drive until dies and will storage the other one because I know this particular model will be worth a lot in 20 years.

what about the turbos? Can this be done in California???
Turbos are stock. This vehicle has a compound turbo setup and the large turbo flows pretty well. I highly doubt this is legal in California. I also doubt if you did it illegally you would get away with it long before getting caught. I don't know much about the emissions stuff out there but I know it is very strict.

Does the car throw codes for the swirl flap delete?
It would in my case because the intake I swapped onto the vehicle that had the swirl flap delete plates pre-installed also didn't have the swirl flap motor. So it will set a fault when it doesn't see the motor connected. I'm not really sure what would happen if you installed the delete plates but left the motor and left it plugged in.
it’s not supposed to if you leave the motor connected
@@MunkysGarage In my 2006 E320 CDI you can buy a resistor to put it on the cable that goes to the motor and will think that it is actually connected.
How much was the labor on this?
It varies by what exact parts are involved. What was involved in this video I charge $400 for. Mind you I don't have a shop or overhead to deal with. So shops will most likely charge more.

With all the "delicate" glow plug videos and risks of breaking them off, it seems pretty ballsy to just go after it with a good old hefty twist. And no torque wrench for install. Warm engine? Penetrating lube?...I am thinking of buying one of these, and they all have 100k miles and no adds say they have done any of this maint...no wonder people ditch them!
I have done more glow plugs than I can remember and have never had them break off. Never heard off anyone ever breaking a bmw glow plug. It was a cold engine and I didn't use any penetrating lube. These engines have there maint. requirements, as do most engines. But they really don't "break down" and leave people stranded. Most of what fails on them is the emissions stuff. Which never causes an issue with the driveability. Just check engine lights.
