Stop belittling your intelligence... you are picking up on so much more than I did the when you watch this show (or other show's you've been reacting to).
@@ThePorpoisepower blame the people that told her to look at the codes,it's their fault
@@adamk-paxlogan7330SucksBlame the arson for the fire
Stan "sub-plot" is one of my favorite joke in the show.
the ciphers are the end aren't spoilers, worst case they hint toward things to come, most often they're just jokes
And then there's creepy stuff regarding the contents of the episode.
As someone who watched Gravity Falls when it came out, don't worry about the codes. They are fun if you like that sort of thing, but it's totally not necessary, and you will absolutely get spoilers even if you're careful.
Although if you do want to know, they are on the Gravity Falls Wiki :)
As i remember, codes didnt have any spoilers... some of them point to upcoming episode plots but you have to see those episodes to understand their meaning
When I watched gravity falls I was totally oblivious to the codes. I never paid attention to them because I'm stupid. I thought this was a typical slice of life cartoon and never before saw a cartoon with an actual plot progression. I also didn't see the first episode and just jumped right in watching some random season 2 episode that doesn't show you there is any hidden secret with Stan. I did eventually see the first episode before the secret with Stan was revealed, but until that happen I was totally oblivious that there was any underlying mystery except for finding the author of the journal. I just end up watching season 2 then backtracking to season 1 back to season 2. I watched this documentary that appeared on Disney after the four part Wierdarmageden where Alex Hirsh talked about his show. That is where and when I realises there were even codes in the show. I didn't feel like looking them up because I didn't care much and I'm lazy. But I like watching other people who react to the show reveal the secret message to me and it's like a new addition to watching all the episodes and then hearing the secret code at the end of the reaction.
Yeah, don't even do an image search!
@@creativeandmeaningfulname1164 The codes themselves don't have spoilers if you read/decipher them in order, but there's the very high risk of seeing actual spoilers while looking up the codes on Google or the wiki.
"This show got good"
Me: "Yes! Definitely! Absolutely!"
This was a very good episode :D
you rigged it lol
Most of the codes at the end are jokes relating to the episode or a random quote from the episode. Only occasionally will the codes hint at stuff coming, but even those aren't really spoilers, just small bits of foreshadowing
I'll probably look them up when I'm done with the show then :D I'm scared to google anything right now because of spoilers!
@@WeeLassReacts that's smart
I myself didn't bother when watching it and my experience wasn't damaged in any way
Fun fact: the lamby dance was actually taken from one of the writers childhood.
I did something similar when I was in primary school
Fun Fact: The thing in the fish tank is a Fiji mermaid, a hybrid taxidermy made from a monkey and a fish tail.
The B Plot with Stan and the movie is SUPER relatable to me.
For years, I've avoided watching TV dramas; thinking they were as hammy as comedy shows often depicted them. But after I watched ABC's Once Upon A Time for the first time, I became HOOKED!
Now, I do exactly the kind of stuff Stan does; especially the credit scene (except I don't throw my TV out the window)
Alex Hirsch, the show creator and voice actor for a bunch of characters (Grunkle Stan, Soos, Old Man McGuckett, a bunch of others) has a twin sister. And they were born in Piedmont, CA (which you may remember is where Dipper and Mabel are from). His relationship with his sister definitely informs/infuses the story.
I have twin children who are a little older than Mabel and Dipper now, and definitely adds to how much I love this show.
By the way, The Owl House also has hidden messages. The first letter of each episode title spells a phrase, and each episode has a hidden encoded word, marked by an eye symbol
"what was that?"
That's what's said at the beginning, middle, and end of every gravity falls episode XD
I never caught the brain thing. Good catch. Remember, we may not be the sharpest marbles in the bag, but we have our moments.
This is why Parents will always tell their children to be careful when you hang out with teenagers, if they tell you do something bad then all hell breaks loose, and it can probably and definitely cause or ruin your own life 11:28
12:11 Imagine if Gravity Falls was Rated R
Dipper over here being super relatable crushing over the cool, awesome girl. Definitely reminds me of myself at that age.
I'm bi too and weirdly I can't recall anything that might have even hinted I was attracted to guys until I started college. Knew I was into girls pretty early but took several years going into early 20s plus a friend flirting with me to figure out I also found guys attractive.
I'm curious if your experience was similar to mine, do you identify as male yourself? I wonder if it was all the heteronormative media being shoved down our throat that hid that aspect of ourselves until we were older.
Well that, and (for me) a lack of decent female characters in media to realise I was interested in. Think the only hint I got was Kim Possible, but there were LOADS of good male characters.
@@WeeLassReacts I am male (though gender has never really been that important to my identity). I'm sure media had some part to play in it (more not thinking about non-straight attraction as much and not seeing a lot male characters meant to be attractive for the audience as much than actually being ignorant or discouraged) but I doubt that was the biggest factor. Might also be a factor that, when it comes to physical attraction, I tend to slightly prefer feminine traits. There weren't actually a lot of people around me I really felt attracted to growing up either.
I had a chip on my shoulder from a pretty young age about the fact that female characters didn't get nearly the same writing quality and attention in most cartoons. It was especially frustrating with the few I found attractive or cool on the surface.
The ciphers don't contain spoilers for future episodes, they're merely fun little winks to what's happened in the current episode
Yay Gravity Falls is continuing!!! I was a lil worried you stopped cause it had been a hot min since episode 4. Glad you are sticking it through cause this show just gets better and better. The last 4-5 eps of Season 2 are masterpieces.
Yeah dont worry!!! Episode edits are slowing because I'm trying to get through TOH before the final 2 episodes of season 3 drop! I also am adding something else to be watched in October.... and I was ill :( hahaha
@@WeeLassReacts Ah, well...hope you're feeling better now, or soon.
One or two of the codes contain vague foreshadowing, but no explicit spoilers. Most of them are just funny one-liners related to the episode.
9:55 oh yes, an usual monster from a KIDS SHOW
One of my favorite scary moments: “I’m bonkers for eating you alive!”
The codes are mostly fun stuff related to the episode like little phrases and jokes. some later in season 2 give small hints but won't completely spoil episodes plot points for the most part they are chill. You don't need to do them if you don't want to.
I watched it on DVD long after it ended and never engaged with any of the cyphers of hidden secrets. I still think it's an amazing show. You're good 👍
I'm glad this series is continuing! One of my favorite shows, even a decade later.
I look forward to these reactions!! I love this show and I hope you’re enjoying it too!
This episode was defo my favourite so far :D I think I'm starting to get into it! Some shows take me longer to get into than others :D
The codes are not necessary. You can completly ignore them. They are just a fun little thing to pass the time between episodes.
But in case you want to solve them and want to know how, think the letters at the end were in a simple cesar code if I remember correctly. The backwards messages require obviously a bit more efford though.
I still think you are having the best experience by watching both Gravity Falls and The Owl House at the same time.
They don't have spoilers. Usually they quote or refer to something in the episode they're attached to.
Further along in the show, mainly season two, they can have a hint of foreshadowing, but they don't outright spoil anything.
You should do them, or look them up, only if you want to though; you're not missing anything if you don't. This show doesn't punish the causal viewers, but it does give tiny Easter eggs to people who like that sort of thing.
17:20 Decrypted: Onwards-Aoshima!
Oh man if you think it is good now just wait till season 2! I admit that when rewatching season 1 it was better than I remembered but I remember that I thought season 1 was just okay and then season 2 some of the most jaw droping surprises, emotional feels, and excitement I have ever gotten in a cartoon!
10:38
whats funny is that Stan said he refuses to stand up to change the channel (tbf, been there. If I'm comfortable enough i dont want to move a millimeter) but he got up to get ice cream. Man's got his priorities XD
edit:
also something I just noticed, it's only the husband shop owner who's really attacking them all, the wife is kind of just watching. Because Dipper laid down in his chalk outline. That's a nice bit of detail. The wife wasnt attacking them because none of them laid in her outline
Codes are mostly joked, call backs and Easter eggs.
If you care to know how to find the key to them.
For the first season it is a special thing in the title screen.
For the second season the keys are hidden in each episode, normally hard to find.
Love the channel so far pretty new! Love the accent and love LOZ!
YEY welcome to the family :D I'm glad you found the channel!!! And YESS LoZ and we have a new game next year AH CANNAE WAIT!!!!
@@WeeLassReacts Thank you for actually replying that's awesome!! And I'm super excited I've had my triforce on my hand for years and I plan on doing a full spine and shoulder tat one day!!

2:16 because this time Wendy’s there too
Since you've asked: yes, sometimes the cyphers in the end are a little hint for the next episodes. But there are also easter eggs and jokes about the current ones. Nothing much spoilry, more like foreshadows.
As for figuring things out early, don't worry too much. I just got the DVD set since it's being discontinued and in the commentary they talk about how little they had planned in advance. They knew some things but mostly made it up as they went along. Which is weird because you can point to something and say it's foreshadowing of something else, but was actually a total coincidence.
I'm waiting for the blu-ray set since for my group it's back ordered. gotta wait 10-14 days can't wait tho.
Fun fact: the guy who voices DIpper is married to Melanie Lynskey, from Yellowjackets. I have to wonder whether their house has secret rooms in it.
10:18... _oh_
I just figured it was 'cause it's easier
12:03 1, funny comeback that would usually be for compliments
And 2, i thought beforehand that it would force him to dance instead
17:10 I JUST
STAN, YOURE GONNA MISS THE END NOW
Don't do any research until the third time you watch. The first time, watch it cold. The second, look for what you know from the first watch through and see what you catch. THEN read up and do the research.

Gravity Falls never grabbed me, but I always loved this episode. So cute.
Hello there. Just started watching your channel now and they're good. I just watched watched this show called Amphibia, which is also a disney series. The show is great and its like a mix of both owl house, gravity falls, Shera and the princesses of power, the list goes on. Its a phenomenal show.
I love your reactions , they seem soooooo honest and alsoo I love your accent 🥰
Suggestion: why not just have somebody you trust send you the codes from each episode?
Actually, if you want, I'll throw together a folder with all the hidden codes in it so you can just check each episode as you go, no chance of spoilers.
I've seen someone do something similar for one reactor. For each episode, they would comment the decoded code(s) found on the Wiki.
That avoids needing to have some rando in the comments (like myself) send her stuff privately, but then she can't react to them in the same video as the episode...
@@cravdraa Yeah, the reactor I mentioned (don't remember who) never commented on such comments in a video except for hear and there. They mostly commented directly on the comment.
Just so you know. The smile dip dog says a secret message of foreshadowing if you play it backwards
This is my favorite episode of the whole series. Nonstop funny for me.
I'm not the sharpest bulb in the drawer when it comes to catching on to anything except the most in my face plot points and I quite enjoyed watching this show as is without faffing about with all the codes and cyphers then watched some "Gravity Falls Explained" type videos (most notably Film Theory's Gravity Falls video)
It's always super validating to me, as an asexual person, to hear ppl talk about their childhood crushes and be like "oh, I experienced none of that!" Cuz it's kinda like, yeah, I really have always been this way.
Stan was such a mood in this episode.
There is a site that tells you what codes to use and also just what the messages are, but it DOES have spoilers. But I think it only spoils certain things about season 1, so maybe after that I'll drop the link for it? Though also the show can be watched just fine without the codes and you won't really miss anything.
people just give her the cipher messages each episode if she researches she will probably be spoiled
girl that was just the start , it might be a bit of a slow burn but its totally worth it at the end ;)
10:00 you said what is that! and i got eggo ad"it's eggo for breakfast bla bla..." A second after... Can't be scared after that
The codes in the first season are just jokes referring to the episodes. But the codes in the second season actually mean something.
The Owl House has a cipher in the episode title names as well.
It's a shame Dipper doesn't get an age up like Marco does in that episode of Star vs forces of evil (Well he never did in what I saw of gravity falls ill admit to not finishing it) I'd have loved to see Wendy react to a Dipper like that.
This episode started the creepiness and it gets better from here!
Thx for the reaction
At first, you were kinda iffy and we'll see about this show. Now it seems to have grown on you. Don't worry about reading into or deciphering anything, just enjoy the show. Even just thinking about it seems to stress you out. Ooooor... Go for it. Who knows what you'll discover. Maybe, it's that you have more brain cells than you think but doesn't thinking about how many brain cells you have require brain cells? Anyway like you said in all your popups, you're cute, adorable and we love you.🤟🥰
Cipher breaking has a leaving cliff not a learning curve. But the cliff is very short. A bit of research, and you could be breaking them.
If you don't want to bother, looking up the answers after an episode can be great for the experience.
Breaking codes, even if just getting the answers, and theorizing makes the show more fun.
There was a secret message somewhere in this episode. Wonder if ya may find it. Excited for the next reaction! Catch you on the rewind.
wendy's a G
The cyphers are mostly jokes and fun tidbits about the current episode. on lore heavy episodes they could say a bit more but they never outright spoil anything.
No spoilers in the codes - they are just cute little jokes or references to stuff in the episode.
4:03 - *“There's stuff happening in this that is so intelligent, I just- I'm too much of an idiot **_(But adorable)_** to fully be able to comprehend.”*
I can't say I agree about the idiot thing, so far - can confirm adorability, though. 😉
7:19 - *“ ‘… will be dead!’ Dead!d, technically, if you want to include the D after the exclamation point.”*
But if you do that, you'd also have to include the P in front as well, and "Pdead!d" doesn't quite roll off the tongue.
17:37 - *“Let me know in the comments: Do these contain spoilers?”*
No, they're just small jokes, usually in the form of references to something that happened in the episode. Even the ones that take the form of "Next Episode:…" blurbs are just made up for funsies. 😁
In season 2, an additional code appears _after_ the credits of each episode. _Those_ occasionally contain cryptic hints at what's to come, but not actual spoilers.
Right now, I don’t have any move phase. I actually don’t have it at all, but I do have a make up phase now which is right now obviously and I have a very long phase of just tripping over lot.
The code I think is meant to for the fans like the hard to find codes in owl house
Most of the codes are jokes and references. But later on they become cryptic clues and foreshadowing. But they don't spoil. I remember watching this when it was airing and following the forums full of theories. Fun times. In fact, the creator of the show created a major false leek to support one of the wrong theories, throwing the whole community off with their predictions.
emo phase love to see that
Should I tell her how to decode them? Or just let her find the cypher on her own
I've also wondered about the shapes on the door frames, could be nothing. I've also noticed a bunch of red rectangles of varying lengths and widths in the journal. I think those might be something.
And if you want to try to decode the messages here's a hint, try A=X
Gravity Falls is one of those shows with lots of little hints and bits going on in the background, so you wont catch all of them on the first watch through
No spoilers usually just something pertaining to the ep
If you ever watch other reaction channels on UA-cam. You should check out Blindwaves reaction to this series, they get really indept with solving the cyphers at the end of the episodes. One of the guys is into making Hint Hunts so he knows how to solves different codes.
Love the show and great reaction, if you ever need some grapich design for your channel ill do it for free.
No spoilers, but the hand signal Dipper and Wendy do may or may not be important in a future episode 👀
If you want to know something rewind the part when Maple is talking to one of the dogs.
But if you don't care like I did enjoy the show.
As a Tammy, what do you think of the show Parks and and Rec?
That Emo guy in Wendy's group? Grew up in a cemetery
I like how you are looking Gravity Falls and The Owl House, when you have time you should try Amphibia 💙❤💚
This was the episode that completely won me over on this show.
There really isn't a "bad" episode of GF, but this one is the first 10/10
Oh, and no: There aren't any real spoilers in the codes, at most a little bit of foreshadowing for the next episode on a couple of occasions.
The ciphers are really easy to do at the start of the series, but they get harder as the show progresses, especially in season 2.
I'm really stingy when it comes to my ratings hahaha, Bleach is my favourite anime ever but even then I'd give it a 6.5/10 maybe a 7 at a push lol
So for me, if I had to rate Gravity falls until this point I'd probably put it in a similar region. There's only a few shows that have gotten 10/10 from me and that was the final season of Avatar the Last Airbender and Arcane.
5:00 Dipper is 12.
Return the slab!
The ciphers are just jokes.
I never bothered with the ciphers and I enjoyed the show fine.
the show is old enough now that trying to look up anything about it is going to produce spoilers. I am watching two different channels right now watching this show (the other is slightly further ahead so remembering which is which), and both of you I am surprised have avoided spoilers just from looking up the episodes. But yeah try to look up a code or anything and I guarantee the article title or thumbnail will likely be a massive spoiler.
One thing you could react to sometimes in the future:
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
It is a 2008 musical comedy-drama miniseries in three acts, produced exclusively for Internet distribution. With Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day. Created by Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly, Marvel Avengers)
He produced it while a writers strike with a lot of his friends. It is crazy good and had been released for free back in the days. Also nearly no one on UA-cam reacted to it, so you have the opportunity to draw a lot of people with the thing.
The three parts are only about 45 minutes in whole.
So I won't give spoilers, but... the whole thing about Mabel not supporting Dipper the way he supports her? This show has a lot of long-running subplots that are built up over several episodes, even for entire seasons before they get resolved. All I'm saying is, keep an eye out, that 'not supportive' point will be brought up a few more times.
Spoilers in this comment: I just realized that in this episode Wendy is hit by a bag of Ice and in the zodiac, she represents Ice.
You could replay what the yellow dog said backwards...
1:00 Look all that stuff was for the community as a whole to figure out together when it first came up. You're not going to figure it outon your own. No one has figured it all out on their own. It was a community effort. I would just come back and look it up after you're finished.
6:27
Can I give you a tip the owl lady will soon receive a charm advice look for a little whispering rain
The next episode should be quite interesting or protectedness will be left with a question in the owl lady will answer it at the end of the shower just like a question you asked last week‘s because a hunter will arise looking for looking for another hunter one in red seeking companionship, seek out of a hunter in gold, seeking answers he did or not ask for the leader of the man in gold is a deadly one
.
The cryptograms in Gravity Falls don't really contain spoilers, just little extra bits of information that add to the episode or jokes (or both at once). I don't remember any instance where it was something super-important, just a bit of fun. I don't think any of them outright give anything away ahead of time, at least - if you've seen the episode the code comes from, nothing should be spoiled. The secret codes in The Owl House are more plot-relevant, but still shouldn't outright give anything away in advance.
I think the thing to keep in mind for both shows is that it was intended for viewers to find them as the episodes aired as part of the experience, though it is of course not necessary to do so to enjoy watching.
