Still the best season 2 setup ever. “Here we go.” Hits hard every time. I can’t wait to see you react to Stan going through the portal and reuniting with his old flame Eda!
Given the context of that episode how old do you think dipper and mabel are around the time of the owl house. Like Anne's adventure is about at the same time, so she isn't that different age wise to Luz and crew.
Listening to the dvd commentary, you'd be surprised by how much of this show was written by the seat of their pants. At the start, Alex knew what Stan was doing under the shack and why, and had created Bill's character, but almost everything else was the result of many sleepless nights at the animation studio. In fact, Alex was so burned out after season 1, he almost didn't make a season 2.
I did think that about the pins and Stan's hearing aid, they both should have been set up earlier in the season for an even bigger impact this episode.

Not the first time I say that, but I love how this Wee Lass plays the idiot having to to power up a "third brain cell" when she has to think, and is actually a genius when making theories about shows, understanding things a hundred episodes before the vast majority of us did, and guesses things no other reactor ever saw coming. I also really love how much Stan cares about Dipper and Mabel, and only sends them home because he thinks it's what was best for them.

However, according to Alex Hirsch, “the audience is willing to forgive one inch of contrivance if it gives them ten miles of story.” Basically, yes, everyone knows that deeds don’t work that way, but they are willing to set that aside in order to enjoy the story that comes from it.

The “Stan” with the cleft chin is actually not Stan. He’s Dipper’s father, who’s the real author of the journals. Stan knows that he’s in league with Bill Cipher and another demon named “Tad Strange”, so he’s trying to destroy what Dipper’s dad built: A machine that summons the two demons to the real world.
Gideon: "I AM NOT A GIRL!" Best line ever! Gideon: "There were three of them?" All he had to do was see the last page of 2. What makes the end worse is Alex didn't plan a season 2, until someone convinced him otherwise. And if that happened, I may have never got into the series right as they started airing season 2. And it all happened during October 2014, where a "new" Phineas and Ferb special came out, during the ad break was the promo for GF season 2, and watched all of season 1 to be caught up on it all. For the last code, you need to use all three of this season’s ciphers in reverse. First numbers-to-letters, then use Atbash on the results, and finally shift every letter back three letters.
