    I really REALLY love these documentaries. You guys find some really amazing artists. One thing though, why is it that most Art Talks as of late have been of German artists? I would love to see work from people around the world. Anyways, thanks for doing this. You're great Vice.

    Daniel, I don't know if there's any chance you'll read this, but I can answer your question. I was blown away watching this, because I actually already wrote the essay that you talked about. I'm a Iraq combat veteran and a blues musician. I'm working on putting together a music project with veterans, Veterans Music Project on Facebook if you're interested. My essay compares playing rock and roll to PTSD. I was in shock when I saw your Blues paintings!

    "maybe sarcasm doesnt work in subtitles"
    This. In the Original German, his Sarcasm isn't just blatantly obvious, but pretty much par for the course (so to speak).
    This goes on to show again, that the elusive beast that is "German Humor" does actually exist - it just doesn't survive translation.

    the thing he says correlates bands and young men in the military is the uncertainty of society, or their part in one where they are praised on one hand they are also in a way isolated from the society of praise. This then leads the youth to take a leap into the pit or a drastic life change, of direction in which the individual is headed.

    I can dig this.. if this is the new modern or contemporary, and he’s using paint I can get into it. I’m an artist myself and was definitely influenced by German expressionism, and I believe this is practically a modern version of German expressionism. The faces, the fear, the colors, very interesting and cool🙏👍🏼

    Lovin these art pieces too. Seeing the motivation behind these artists from around the globe helps expand my awareness on their regions issues. Something you can't get from mainstream media. To me it seems like all artists are philosophers, they need to be. They do a lot of research and exploring to produce meaningful, controversial pieces.
    I notice the last two were germans. Do you do these depending on your visiting destinations?
    Thanks for sharing your art too Vice! One of a kind.

    Yeah art documentaries are great, keep doing them, there are so many artists that nobody knows who should be seen… I wish I could… I’m a modern abstract expressionist but I have done lots of different styles I like mixing and matching different things to something different but it’s so hard to be different and stand out, you almost have to do something ridiculous, do something weird just be weird or something offensive just to get noticed. Just enjoy our painting, create something beautiful, enjoy art for what it is, not what it should be. People don’t have to try so hard, art should be beautiful whether it’s happy or sad. Or peaceful. Just beautiful

    i've thought about this a lot before and to me the guitar is a symbol of freedom that has saved countless lives. i don't know of any other invention that has been as powerful in a positive way... so the "soldier with rifle" analogy seems very odd and for some reason it almost angers me that he's trying to put such a negative twist on the power of guitar music... but maybe i just got him wrong.

    You have a lot of passion. Put that out in paint and canvass and express yourself that way instead of words in a youtube comment and then you have something.
    ...then make a video showing your work so we can all judge and scream at you :)

  • @franzdoreza5230
    @franzdoreza5230 8 місяців тому

    I totally agree about his thoughts on art versus not art, art versus album covers or something thats made for a purpose. Just like graphic design, cover art has its purpose it can be beautiful and interesting. But the fact that he doesn’t believe it’s considered “fine art“ or just art, not even sure why they call it fine art. But there’s a differencenot all illustration or graphic design is art as it serves a purpose but it can still be beautiful regardless.

      @Sternebrille 7 років тому +5

      Daniel Richter ist Labelchef von Buback, dem Label, bei dem Zugezogen Maskulin gesignt sind. Der Interview Ausschnitt verdeutlicht ein häufig zu beobachtendes ambivalentes Verhalten eines linken Künstlers, der sich von den kapitalistischen Fesseln schwer lösen kann. Passt daher perfekt zum Guccibauch 😊

      Achso, macht natürlich Sinn. Vielen Dank für deine Antwort :)
      Finde ich ja interessant, dass sie einfach mal ihren Labelchef so auf's Korn nehmen. Wobei die Beiden solch eines ambivalenten Verhaltens ja sicher auch nicht unschuldig sind.

    How good, or how successful an artist is, is not singularly determined on how good of a realism painter they are. That can be one range of artists, but then their are the abstract artists, such as Robert Delaunay. And the fact that you don't even know that, gives the impression that you don't know much about art.

    How about you quit whining on the internet and go out and make this master piece that you're so sure you can make. If the drive is truly there it won't matter if you're painting in a shed or a multi-billion dollar facility, the painting will get done.
    I would hedge a bet at the person you hate the most is yourself, and not the world. If it turns out to be true, find a way to love yourself.
    In the end though... chill out man. This guy hasn't done anything to you, except follow his heart.
