  • In this first part of my day in which I am trying to reach Sante Fe in Panama, I end up in a remote area in the mountains, where the roads are challenging and the rivers deep. Very deep..

    The title of this video may suggest otherwise, but I do know what momentum is and why you’d want to have it 🤣 Thing is, there is a difference between theory and real life riding, and that all boils down to risk.
    Riding into a river fast, where you can’t see the terrain and can’t see big rocks at the bottom, is a risk. Dropping the bike here, means drowning the engine and I know I can’t fix a drowned engine by myself in some remote mountains 😅 I’ve seen enough videos of ‘cool’ riders blasting through rivers and ending up drowning their bikes 🙃 I rather struggle a little a low speed but make it to the other side with an engine that’s still running, thank you very much 🤪

    All of us that have traveled on a motorcycle and done some off road, and in the meantime have recorded these adventures, and made some editing in the end, know how much hard work it is in the end to select circa 20 minutes of a full day ride and putting all together to tell a story that others can appreciate. I wonder how many hours, per day, Noraly spends editing watching videos and working it, after arriving many times tired and worn out after a hard days ride? Thank you for your dedication, Noraly

      @kuhndj67 2 роки тому +8

      GoPro is terrible at showing slope (because they're generally on the helmet or bike where they get "levelled" to the slope). You can generally only tell how steep it is if the rider looks to the side so you can see how the trees are growing... if it looks like they're all leaning and about to fall over... it's STEEP!

    • @jayski9410
      @jayski9410 2 роки тому +3

      Even though the steepness doesn't show up on camera, you can tell how hard the suspension was working with those side shots of the front wheel. And your right the sound of the engine was another good indicator. I wonder if she'll have wheel bearing problems after fording such a deep river? After you've been riding a while, the bearings get hot, then rapidly cooled when submerged in water. It used to wreak havoc on the bearings of my boat trailer. I had to regrease them after every launch.

    Noraly, you capture and edit some of the best video and scenery around the world. I really enjoy following your journey. Do you plan to provide a personal review of your “behind the scenes” equipment used on this trip? I specifically am interested in your opinion of your new Rev’it! Gear, including your expedition boots. How are the 50/50 tires you’re using doing on the off-pavement sections? Do you wish you had more knobby tires or are they adequately working for you? From what I can see, Alaska is doing quite well. Looking forward to the rest of the trip! -From Northern California, USA

    Those roads would be tough in a 4 wheel drive truck. I've also wondered in my travels, "Why did they pick here to live?" Sometimes it seems like they got to a certain spot and thought, "That's it, I'm done....good enough." In all reality, you're not going to get a more simple life, which is pretty cool. Stay safe out there.

Amazing how you drove bike through water and in the deep road ruts without damage to your bike. Always a great adventure. Thank you.

    I'm really impressed with the image stabilization of the GoPro considering how very bumpy that road seemed to be. I found it very interesting to see so many coniferous trees along the route. But I guess it was because of the elevation you're at in the mountains. Beautiful drone footage. Looking forward to seeing your arrival in Santa Fe and good to know you are safely beyond.
