Yes, I agree that this is really underrated and an example of Sakimoto's effortless compositional ability (well, not really effortless, but his writing is so natural) . Nice job. Wow
Thank you Joshua!!! i know what you mean, Sakimoto has such a unique style in that he doesn't rely hard on melody to drive his compositional ideas, he's more evocative and ambient, which translates into some SUPER interesting orchestral textures and when combined with electronica, like in Vagrant Story, it's just amazing. I think he said once in an interview out of everything he's ever written for, he likes Vagrant Story the best.
How interesting. I never did play Vagrant Story but did note the inclusion of one of the characters in War of the Lions. I guess I'll have to add that to my nine-mile-long backlist of games to play...
I love that you cover so much FFT music. It's one of my favorite OSTs and you always do such great arrangements of it. Still waiting for that full FFT album!
I think by the time you're done you'll just have covered the entire OST. Then again, that would be amazing. :D By the way, do you have your albums available for purchase on something like LoudR? I have access to them via Google Music but would like to support you more directly, if possible!
Wow! I love this song and you executed perfectly as always, to tell the truth, all the tracks of FFT is awesome, a true masterpiece. Thanks for grace us with that song
You're my favorite pianist on UA-cam but I've never commented. I've been listening to your videos to get me through work since last year. I love FFT and pretty much all the covers you do!
I loved this random waltz from the very first time I heard , but all FFT melodies are amazing! As well as Vagrant Story and Shining Force 2 - beautiful musics!
I liked all of your FFT arrangements! It brings up many good memories when I was young and play this fantastic game all day. I see your effort to play as much lively as possible, keep up the good work!
aww thank you very much!!!!!! I love that you are a fan of the game as well, it's so underappreciated and it makes me happy when people who love that game as much as I do come out of the woodwork
ahh thank you so much, that means a lot!!! Yes, it's surprising how much Sakimoto adapted to piano sounds so impressionist, it makes it easy to shift into Debussy mode while arranging hahaha!
ahahahaha yes I agree, Sakimoto is just such a complex and accessible composer, his music is just so awesome and it's really been so satisfying to translate it to solo piano!
Well, this turned out superbly! Just went and listened to the original Random Waltz and I think you did an outstanding job transposing it to piano. Particularly love how you captured the pace changes throughout and the shop theme at the end fits in nicely.
I heard this one the most when watching my brother, too. The Chapel was the one I heard the most when I played it (and have yet to finish haha) in middle school. Thanks for the upload!
Awesome work. It's not easy to capture the denseness of Sakimoto on piano without sounding too bombastic, but you struck a great balance and Random Waltz had great texture. And Shop was a lot of fun and a sweet pairing and transition! Looking forward to Antidote, I've always wanted to arrange that one for piano but never got round to it.
I’d love to help - for general advice I’d say don’t get too concerned with trying to fit all the lines in, you can also choose one line and accentuate it with a new harmony or rhythm - lets you add interpretation. It’s up to you how interpretive it will get, I generally stick to the original for the A section (so the listener can recognise it and connect), then do more interpretive things once I’ve established the original sound in the listeners mind.
hahaha YES that is a very astute observation and really why I love Sakimoto's work so much. Translated to piano, it results in a a lot of pointillism and evocative gestures reminiscent of Debussy and Ravel and I love them so much.
PD: me he suscrito a tu canal. Tienes muchisimo talento. Enhorabuena
Great performances. I'm happy to have stumbled upon this, and your channel, when searching for "final fantasy tactics piano" a minute ago. Random Waltz (which is not a waltz at all??) is a favorite of mine from the soundtrack too. Sakimoto manages to fit so many developments into less than a minute. It's almost like a miniature medley unto itself, and the clarity and dynamism of your playing bring those qualities to life on the piano.
wow thank you so much for the kind words!!!! and you're right it isn't a waltz at all hahaha, the titles on that OST are so odd. I'm glad you hear the same wonderful qualities in Sakimoto's writing as I do, I love all his textures and filigrees, and so many interesting modulations. He was elevating video game music back in the early 90s with Radiant Silvergun and it really brings me joy to try to translate that to piano and to hear from a fellow fan like yourself that I was able to convey at least a fraction of his brilliance. Thank you again!
It's been SO dope listening to you play Sakimoto, dood. It's obviously fun for you, which makes it fun to watch, still, thanks for uploading all this! Your hands are gold... I read in the comments you're transcribing Antidote?!?! Such a good track. I'm so ready🎆 🍴👻🎉 👻
Haha. I'm remembering these long stretches of time where I was in the shop debating with myself on what to buy with what little money I had and this song playing over and over and over and over again. Lol.
Absolutely beautiful rendition CB! This one is on my list to learn. I've got Zalbag's almost halfway learned... Random Waltz and Chapel coming up when I make the time! Edit: NVM, sorry I think it actually this is in the playlist as appropriate. Cheers!
hahaha thank you so much Steven! I'm so glad you're having fun learning a few Tactics themes! From that book I highly recommend giving Trisection and Apoplexy a while, as Shop and Pub! They're super fun!!! Would love to hear your Zalbag one day! =)
Sometimes you just need to sit back and listen to a skilled pianist bang out some of the best tunes in the world. Yeah. I wish I could have discovered your channel sooner.
hahaha!! thank you so much!!! it'd be nice to do longer versions but a lot of the themes are so short I can't think of how to extend them and I'm not good at coming up with new material lol
chiiils ;_; I do play piano too.. i teached myself so there is not much i can do, with some practice i could play the easier one of your cover but , i don't have a piano lol. So the fact that you do it for me (in my place) it makes me so happy. i'm not religious but thanks god people like you exist ^^
Absolutely amazing ! Those are the Best FFTactics piano interpretations by far ! You should try Bravely default (1st episode) on 3DS. I'm sure you'll fall in love with this game music 😉
Bravo! This makes me want to pick up the game just to do some random battles in Chapter 1 to beat up chocobos and goblins to the sound of this. Nothing fancy you know, just "waltz" back and forth between Igros Castle and Gariland Magic City like I used to do back in the old days.
i haven't unfortunately but I hear mixed reviews. Some people claim they love it better than tactics and yet some say it fell short. What were your thoughts?
The bad reviews are probably because of the game's judge system, sometimes it can really screw you over if the judges prohibit you to do a major action all battle long. But it's still a great game imo, and it had such a great soundtrack they basically reused it in the nintendo DS sequel. The sequel, A2, eased off on the judge system a lot, but the story isn't as good as 1's.
Perhaps my favorite of yours so far. Super clean and lively. I also love the transition between songs. I have limited knowledge of music theory, but to my ear, are these two songs played in different keys? If so, I love how that one chord seems to resolve the first song yet starts off the second song perfectly. Either way, well done!
Aah lovely work as always purple! ^^ Now it's question time! >:3 1- Have you played FF Type 0? Is it good? 2- Can you suggest me some easy songs to start playing for the piano from any videogame? In the end I asked 3 questions damn haha ^^' But keep up the nice work purple, we love it!
thank you Miguel! unfortunately I have not played Type 0. Easy songs from any video game...hmmm off the top of my head I would say Zelda's Lullaby, Matoya's Theme from FF1, Tifa's Theme from FF7. Really mostly any OST piano book is written in a simplified arrangement for all the themes so any of your favorite ones with those books will do! Good luck!
Where do you find the sheets? Or do you play it by ear and arrange it yourself? Great job! Would love to hear more, maybe suikoden 2 or dragon quest ost? :)

Sakimoto’s compositions always seem to contain a level of sophistication that I always appreciate.
@@OroborOSX11 He really is exceptional. I like to say that he has a woman's touch to his writing - a sort of grace, delicacy and precision.
I have searched high and low for a proper FFT piano rendition. Thank you for your talent 🤟🏾
thank you so much for listening!!
Oh god my heart. I love love love that spritely opening you arranged for Random Waltz.
I have to ask: how long have you been playing? And how long arranging? Have you ever looked at the FFT piano book?
yes I have looked at the FFT book! it's a good base for arranging. I've been playing for 30+ years, arranging for about two years.
I'm completely memorized by your playing. This is wonderful! 💗
aww thank you so much
It sounds like three people playing piano at once! Amazing job!
ahaha thank you!!! that's the beauty of Sakimoto's writing, there are so many lines to include! =)
I love that you cover so much FFT music. It's one of my favorite OSTs and you always do such great arrangements of it. Still waiting for that full FFT album!

listening to you play the piano really helps me relax.. thank you for recording your work.. you truly are amazing!
You just made my day love FFT soundtrack and now on the 🎹 😁👍
aww thank you!!!! I'm so happy a fellow FFT fan enjoys
Your Tactics arrangements/performances are truly excellent.
thank you very much!!!!! I'm glad you're enjoying them, they really are fun to do for such an underrepresented game and OST.
I loved this random waltz from the very first time I heard , but all FFT melodies are amazing! As well as Vagrant Story and Shining Force 2 - beautiful musics!

It's 2020 and I still come back for some of this every week.
I never though the FFT themes could translate so well into piano. Brilliant arrangement.
ahh thank you so much, that means a lot!!! Yes, it's surprising how much Sakimoto adapted to piano sounds so impressionist, it makes it easy to shift into Debussy mode while arranging hahaha!
Never thought I'd find a cover of this! I've turned this into an mp3 and put in on my iPod lol. Great job!
Ohh wow! This is one of my favorite songs from the entire soundtrack. Bravo! Much love indeed! Gonna share this right away ^_^
THANK YOU OMG! I really appreciate it so much!
Awesome! Even obscure songs from fft can prove to be incredibly interesting on piano as shown here. Cant wait to see what you'll do next!

This piece has sooo many Debussy-ism’s. It sounds like suite bergamasque ( mainly no.1) but just more intense! Great job!!!

Second favorite song (Random Waltz) in this OST... right behind A Chapel.
Both severely underrated.
