    Hey Rodney, your carpentry skills are incredible especially for a person who is not a carpenter. I've been thinking about doing something like this at my home to add extra panels but had no idea of how to start until I've seen your video. Thanks for sharing this. Looking forward to seeing your other videos showing your progress.

    Looking good Rodney, I know how it is. Been raining here in Texas a lot. I do lawn care so have to work around the rain. Also finally got solar to one of my mini splits will get the other today. Started getting power at 9am and right now running 100% on solar should last till about 7pm Sure is a good feeling getting it done. Love your videos. Keep up the good work...... Jeff

      @rodneyhunt Hey Rodney. I have a question. I know when you wire panels in parallel that it adds the amps. But what if you have 2 strands and series parallel. Does the Amps stay the same? Example 4 panels series 37 bolts and 8 amps when you add them together in parallel Does the amps multiply or stay the same? Thanks on advance... Jeff

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  3 місяці тому +1

      So in series the voltage will go up so lets say you have 5 panels in series and 250 volts 9 amps. Then another series the same 5-250-9. When you parallel the two series together you will still have 250 volts but 18 amps. Hope that is what you are asking

    • @JWTX
      @JWTX 3 місяці тому +1

      @rodneyhunt Yeah that's what I was asking. I thought that was the case. Want to add more panels but they are 8 amps and thr mini split max is 12 amps so not able to parallel them. Thanks again.... Jeff

    Never ends brother.... Been fighting rain here for weeks now. Just finished tin on my 10x20 shed hours before the rain hit yet again. In and out of rain and waiting on widgets to finish an 18k mini split yesterday. Got a break for 3 days of sunshine starting today to get house wrap and sheeting on the sides of the shed. All to get done before starting on ground mounts for 36 panels.
    Should go back to work. Retirement sux man! 🤣

    Your parents must have done a really good job raising you if you're willing to install an 18K PV for them, build a patio shelter and put a pallet of bifacials up.
    How do you think the bifacials will do as the "roof" of the patio shelter? I don't know a ton about bifacials but my understanding was you can get the most out of them by having a light colored roofing material a couple feet below them

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  3 місяці тому

      My plan was to put them up without the roof. But that is what they wanted so will lose the benefit of bifacials

I could sure use one of these patio shelters here. Too much snow and age worn out my RV awning. I have 6x290w panels I could put on it. Looking forward to part 2. ps. We got sunshine here.. :P

    Have you figured out a way to have zero export. Mine leaks about .1 kw a day back. And can’t figure out a way to stop it.

    • @rodneyhunt
      @rodneyhunt  3 місяці тому

      I talked to an EG4 tech about it and he said it shouldn’t be a problem with utility company. You can make adjustments with the CT’s to try and zero that number out if you are really set on it. Is your CT set to zero? Are the CT’s on your main grid panel or in inverter?

    • @christopherbarton7625
      @christopherbarton7625 3 місяці тому +1

      @@rodneyhunt I tied in the main lines above my main panel with Polaris connectors and the cts are above that. So the CT are between the meter and my EG4 grid lines. And as far as the numbers I set them the same as you. I believe 1.3000. Thanks for the response. Love the shelter build.
