Yeah no. Its up to the dealers discretion to let you drive the vehicle. When i worked at a dealership as a salesman, we had to run credit checks and hold the person's ID before allowing them to test drive a vehicle. Theft is a huge problem nowadays. Not to mention, walking in and asking for a test drive immediately is a huge red flag.
But, that doesn’t make it okay to lie to someone and say that they don’t have any in stock or that the car they are asking about is on hold for someone else when that is not the case. If you have to run the credit check, run the credit check. I 100% agree that theft is a huge problem, but people have to test drive cars at some point. Treat everyone with the same precautions and make your judgement based on their credit and their willingness to leave collateral at the dealership.

@MC-342 hahaha, do you know the meaning of the word scam lol. I'm sure a big car dealership is illegally scamming people lol. You are probably one of those people who think it's illegal for a dealership to take a down payment lol.
My brother-in-law recently went to a local Subaru dealership and was ignored by a salesman who was sitting at a desk. When told he was interested in buying a car, the salesman said he was not going to assist him and that he doesn't have to sell any cars and he won't get fired. My brother-in-law immediately left the dealership and bought his car elsewhere.
My 17 year old granddaughter won some money and asked me to go with her to buy a new vehicle for cash. The car she wanted was in the lot. She said she wanted a few factory extra's..."So we have to order one from Mitsubishi Japan. We go into the show room, my GD says hi to the salesman. he ignores her and says hi to me. "Hello can I help you today"? "No" I reply.. He looks at me oddly. "Sorry"? "Well that's a start. My granddaughter is here to order a vehicle from you but. I don't think she should after you just ignored her". "Oh, um, sorry miss, um what's your name"? "None of yours. Lets go to the dealership over at Mascot". She replied while I smiled at the car salesman. "Bet your boss will be happy, we did ring up first. Go tell him we're going elsewhere".
The first thing I learned as a car salesman is not to judge a book by it's cover. On my first day, I sold an almost new Mercedes S class to a guy who absolutely did'nt look to be sincere about having money for such a pricy car. The other sales man just shook his head when I engaged in showing the car, but the guy was serious, loved the car, had the funds for it and signed the contract that hour.
The moment he started BS'ing, that's when you tell him that you would like to speak to a different salesperson. If he refuses you call the main number and inform the Dealership as to his behavior and that you would like to speak to someone else in person and that you are right outside. They typically work on commisions and losing a sale like that in front of everyone is a real kick to the balls for a salesperson.
My long passed great aunt would have that happen to her when she'd go to buy a car. Story is, after demanding some salesperson help her, she'd make her choice then demand they reduce the price by the sales commission since no one had helped her and pay cash. She was a formidable woman
If my wife or daughters got treated like that, I'd expect them to go elsewhere, buy the same model, then show that salesman and his boss the deal they'd lost through his attitude.
This is so interesting to me because every time I go to a dealership they practically beg me to test drive a bunch of cars and show off the interior of everything I have to ask them like please no
As a car salesman, deposits are taken on vehicles all the time, which makes it unavailable to everyone else. It also can take days before it’s updated on the website.
Why would you even consider buying a car from this dealership? 2015 went to Toyota dealer in Glen, NJ. I wanted to buy a 2015 Toyota 4Runner 2WD. The sales person says: "why the hell would u want a 2WD here in Jersey?" Left the dealer, sales person follows me and says let me show you a very nice 2015 4Runner 4WD. I respond, let me show you my fist on your face if you continue talking and following me. Bought the vehicle in Tuscaloosa with the most, SURPRISINGLY, friendly sales staff. Great buy.
As a grown woman who works in the car industry stuff like that happens all the time it wasn’t nothing personal. They were just trying to make you happy by letting you test drive the vehicle, but at the same time trying to not upset that customer who had the deposit on the vehicleif you understood how the car industry worked, it would make perfect sense
This is actually really common. Salespeople prejudging potential buyers based on their looks. I used to work in sales and I made a crap ton of money selling all the interested buyers nobody else was willing to talk to. Then, of course, they would all bitch and complain that I was always at the top of the charts. 🤣
I did have a salesman refuse to allow me to test drive a car, saying I had to guarantee I'd buy the car first. I was 22. I told him what I did for a living, and I would never buy a car without test driving it first. I told him I hope you sell something today, because it won't be to me.
I sold cars for years, and just sounds like another person wanting to increase their profile, not buy a car. She'd probably buy it online and really just wasted his time. He for sure read the playbook and reacted.
The fellow looked at the snout ring, and the bizarre painted on triangles that are supposed to look like an extension of her eyelashes, and assumed that a legitimate purchase wasn't at the top of her agenda. Then he had the gall to glance in her direction as they were pulling out on the test drive she claimed they were denying her. I'm so confused.
You had two options: 1) Leave the dealership and look elsewhere (don’t reward that dealership with a sale), or (2) Leave that salesman and approach one of the others.
I totally believe you. I had similar issues at 3 dealerships. I ended up with a great salesman in the end, but it was a terrible experience. And I was a cash buyer. Anything you see on their website is bs. It's a scam. My own salesman told me that. Good luck.
That happened to me also. Then once I did at least get some service, they tried to talk me out of the Mazda RX-7. Should have seen the look on their face when I wrote them a check for full cost. Blew their minds.
That happened to me when i bought my first brand new car. I was 23, just paid for my schooling in full, knew exactly what i wanted, and i was treated like i wasnt there. He asked my dad if it was a present, he was like F no, she is buying it herself. I wanted him to make sure it was solid and i wasnt just buying a shiny red piece of crap...guy looks at me in disgust, takes my Ss#, and comes back shocked that i had an a-1credit rating. Never judge a book by the cover. I was always taught u dont rely on a cosign cause we arent doing it...
Easy fix. . . Go to a different dealership. With all the shopping options out there and the fact that it is a buyers market, you should have told him, "OK, bye." You could have asked to talk to the manager or above.
I know several car salesman and the last thing they want to do it sell a car! Why would they earn a commission check when they could just sit at their desk!
40 years ago I wanted to look at a car in Grosse Pointe Michigan. High end neighborhood. The guy was snooty with me. I went to another dealership, then had the original car shipped to the second dealership for an extra $50 just so Mr. Snooty wouldn't get the commission.
Me and my wife have gotten 3 cars in the last 2 years. Plus, i spent 24 years working as a mechanic at dealerships Go in and tell them exactly what you want .if they give you any shit go somewhere else. It may take some time to get what you want, but it is out there.
See what you do in this case is go to another dealership. Talk to the sales manager and get the car you want moved to that dealership. Yes it can be done.
Oh my terrible. Boycott for sure. Girl you are a princess that needs service! You should write a complaint letter and speak to the general manager. Don’t forget to tell your experience on all social media. Boycott bullies.
When a salesperson is being rude... you look at him go to the very next person and say "I want to buy that car today, right now. Can YOU help me? then give the sale to the other person
I had that happened to a friend of mine. He wouldn't bought the car to do it. Different dealership and stop then that dealership and see what I cannot afford and drove off.
Yup, some guys can't fathom that a young, beautiful woman, can't also be intelligent and informed. I've been looking at a lot of cars online, studying the pros and cons. So I know exactly what you've been doing.
She is right, if a car salesman can bully you to buy a vehicle model they aren’t selling enough of and they have overstock; THEY WILL! Do you research. If they bully you, tell the owner and the manager (via letter and website review) that you came in to buy a car and the actions of this salesman made you walk out and buy one from another dealership or seller. Carvana or wherever you eventually buy it. Remember to list the name of the dealer and salesman. It is one thing to be talked into buying a meal, some clothes, or some jewelry. But a new car is a substantial purchase to be forced into buying something you do NOT want.
Don't buy any of their car, report him to his boss. Tell them that you will buy one from other dealership. Share what kind of dealership they are as you are doing now.

I had a hard time paying attention be a of the eye makeup. 🤣🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
That eyeliner is hilarious!
The amount oF Privilege & The Vast Lack of education.
She is not going to make it.
None oF these kids are.
If anything, it sounds like SHE bullied the dealer mot the other way around..
Last time I went to a dealership they told me bring back my husband
That’s it salesMen hate when attractive women show up , right .
That's NOT "bullying".
That's a typical "car salesman".
I would be afraid to let it drive too!
This is so interesting to me because every time I go to a dealership they practically beg me to test drive a bunch of cars and show off the interior of everything I have to ask them like please no
Oh brother. Attention is a hell of a drug.
As a car salesman, deposits are taken on vehicles all the time, which makes it unavailable to everyone else. It also can take days before it’s updated on the website.
He "LOOKED OVER AT YOU"?!?
What a POS! This horrible bullying needs to stop. Arrest this man immediately!
13 year old girl shows up trying to test drive Z06.
SHOCKINGGGG
I used to sell cars, it was the easiest money I made. I never treated anyone poorly.
Yep, car dealers always try to turn down selling cars.
You sure are smart!
Go into the showroom and yell out, "Is there a salesperson here who will sell me a car!" Someone there who needs the commission will step in to do it.
I judge salespersons by how they treat my wife. No complaints. Several cars, over the decades.
Great buy.
Sounds more like entitlement then being bullied .
Sound like u need to stfu bc ur poor
As a grown woman who works in the car industry stuff like that happens all the time it wasn’t nothing personal. They were just trying to make you happy by letting you test drive the vehicle, but at the same time trying to not upset that customer who had the deposit on the vehicleif you understood how the car industry worked, it would make perfect sense
Formerly sold cars. You were not bullied, girl. That's a victim complex.
This is actually really common. Salespeople prejudging potential buyers based on their looks. I used to work in sales and I made a crap ton of money selling all the interested buyers nobody else was willing to talk to. Then, of course, they would all bitch and complain that I was always at the top of the charts. 🤣
Victim! Written on her forehead.
I did have a salesman refuse to allow me to test drive a car, saying I had to guarantee I'd buy the car first. I was 22. I told him what I did for a living, and I would never buy a car without test driving it first. I told him I hope you sell something today, because it won't be to me.
It's always fun to watch young people grow up and learn how to deal with the real world
"bullying":
Definition: hearing an answer i don't like.
He was opposed by having to listen to her for longer than 5 seconds.
It sounds like a corporate ford dealer😅
That happened to me when i bought my first brand new car. I was 23, just paid for my schooling in full, knew exactly what i wanted, and i was treated like i wasnt there. He asked my dad if it was a present, he was like F no, she is buying it herself. I wanted him to make sure it was solid and i wasnt just buying a shiny red piece of crap...guy looks at me in disgust, takes my Ss#, and comes back shocked that i had an a-1credit rating. Never judge a book by the cover. I was always taught u dont rely on a cosign cause we arent doing it...
If her parents weren't there, sales people dont want to waste their time
I would have asked for another sales person.
You look like a teenager. So businesses won't take you seriously. They don't trust you. You need stable job.
Just got another salesman. Let somebody else get the commission.
If you got bullied, that means you let him bully you. That was your choice.
The internet always gives 50% of the story, but idiots have a 100% conclusion
"Is there someone else I can talk to? No? Okay, have a nice day."
In 1985 I sold cars for a few months & encountered more A-holes there.
As soon as he said no to a test drive you should have walked away.
Just don't buy from him buy from another salesperson.
Easy fix. . . Go to a different dealership. With all the shopping options out there and the fact that it is a buyers market, you should have told him, "OK, bye." You could have asked to talk to the manager or above.
I would have walked as soon as he lied, then I would do a public review.
I know several car salesman and the last thing they want to do it sell a car! Why would they earn a commission check when they could just sit at their desk!
Don't make business with people who treat you bad. If a sales person treats you unkind, switch to a different sales person right away.
Plus, i spent 24 years working as a mechanic at dealerships
Go in and tell them exactly what you want .if they give you any shit go somewhere else.
He knew you weren't going to buy it
It's always hard hearing no for the first time..
When a salesperson is being rude... you look at him go to the very next person and say "I want to buy that car today, right now. Can YOU help me? then give the sale to the other person
love to hear his side, but if what she says is true, the dealership should seriously consider letting him go.
I would bring that salesman to th3 manager and have that same conversation
I had that happened to a friend of mine. He wouldn't bought the car to do it. Different dealership and stop then that dealership and see what I cannot afford and drove off.
If I WERE HER, I WOULD ASK TO SEE THE SALES MANAGER.
Salesmen work on commission usually. If this guy does, why would be not sell a car to a motivated buyer?
Professional victim at work.
Dang !!!! Did i hear this right ?!?! She got her head shoved into the toilet, and her lunch money taken by the salesbully !!!!!
Yup, some guys can't fathom that a young, beautiful woman, can't also be intelligent and informed. I've been looking at a lot of cars online, studying the pros and cons. So I know exactly what you've been doing.
I am 56. And I have never met an honest car sales person.NEVER!
The minute he said no I would have left. Good salesmen don't say no
Bullied? Did he threaten physical harm and steal your lunch money? That's bullying.
Don't buy any of their car, report him to his boss. Tell them that you will buy one from other dealership. Share what kind of dealership they are as you are doing now.
Don't take it personally. They treat everyone like that
