Well done, Skipper. I'm faced with doing the same thing this spring (after we can leave our apartment, that is). I was envious when you extricated it by hand - Our C&C Corvette 31 has a 900lb steel board.
@@MafiaRadio2020MISC Extra half-knot downwind board up. Also, on the hook, it slaps around incessantly... Short story, it spends a lot more than 1% of it's time up. I find the term centerboard is used colloquially to describe any below the waterline foil that pivots into the hull.
I am looking at one of these Boats and the keel looks like half is missing. I wish I could post a link to the ad. How much would one be looking to pat to repair the Keel on one of the old girls.
M. Green Swing keels are heavy ballast and are usually kept down all the time. Bristols have centerboards, and are fiberglassed boards that I have is very light, less than 70 pounds. You go ahead and argue with Ted Hood about whether it’s at centerboard or a Swing keel.
Thank you for posting this video. Most useful. 🙏
Thank you for posting... learned good stuff.

You have a swing keel. Made to be left down 99% of the time. My centerboard is only 80 lbs. And is left up when not sailing, or on a down wind run.

I inherited an impact driver just like that from my father in law. I use it all the time on the boat. Second best thing I got from him.
Nice - thanks for sharing.

It's half keel and half centerboard. Ted Hood design.
PB Blaster overnight
That's not a centerboard, it's a swing keel.

A swing keel has ballast. A centerboard does not.
