Thanks Thiago for your content, especially for the english videos. I´m sure it will help to improve flight safety around the world. I´m gonna order your book soon.
Hi Thiago, as an ex-pilot and lecturer of aircraft performance I would like to commend you on this video. It shows very clearly the relevant issues of following PAPI vs G/S vs visual runway at low level. Your comment regarding English is unneeded you explain this better than a lot of English speaking pilots! I would review the eye height to wheel height distance for the B777 though - in the first PAPI example it is 29 ft in the second PAPI example it is 39 ft. From looking at the B777 FCTM the first figure looks more correct
Thank you so much for your kind words, Peter! My new years resolution was to make more videos in English this year! Let´s see if I´ll be able to accomplish that goal! Cheers!
Very good video, thank you. I checked out your book on Kindle and decided it would be a worthy addition to my aviation library. It's very well written. It encompasses all the important performance related topics and connects theory and practical aspect in a very clear manner.
PAPI is really irrelevant when making CAT II approaches. Most will lead to an Autoland or a landing following HUD indications, so you will not even get to see PAPI during approach.
It's a shame that the conclusion of this video is "only" your point of view. It should be something that companies and even airplane factors could consider as official information in practical life. I've seen a lot of times inexperienced pilots following wether the G/S signal or PAPI signal until close to starting the flare, spoiling their own approach and ending up with bad landings. Congratulations on your channel Captain.
O material é bom ñ há duvidas mas acho ridículo vc falando inglês em um canal nacional para brasileiros. Ñ esqueça no Brasil falamos português brasileiro
Esse vídeo não é para brasileiros apenas. É para comunidade aeronáutica em todo o mundo. Por isso está em inglês. Há uma versão dele em português no canal.

Thanks for the video. Aren't the PAPI lights red from left to right usually?
I was always surprised by that when I was doing my instrument rating. Thanks, cpt Thiago!
Thank you for watching, Migu!
Just wondering if such approach applicable for both Cat I and II?
PAPI is really irrelevant when making CAT II approaches. Most will lead to an Autoland or a landing following HUD indications, so you will not even get to see PAPI during approach.
