Am a die-hard Canes fan, but love the coach's passion and great vision and motivation. He's also a relatively young guy who is definitely going to energize FSU as well as college football. A rising FSU team will only make college football in the state better overall.

Fuente has a great record of building programs but hasn’t been able to win big games. I like Norvell because he’s younger and I think he could definitely be a Jimbo and be in Tallahassee for a long time.
Let’s hope they get the football only facility built since they didn’t wanna do it for Taggart they better do it for him or we will be in the same boat in a few years! I don’t know all the behind the scenes stuff but that’s the key to moving forward and getting back on top!!!!!!
He's a world class leader bro. He acheived things many of us Memphians never thought would be possible. Besides Nick Saban no other coach has replaced more assistant coaches than Mike Norvell. In spite of that he got better every year and recruited at a level that Memphis has never seen! With LIMITED RESOURCES!!! What you think he bout to do in freaking FLORIDA?! Y'all better get ready!!! This guy is a good coach but his success will depend on his ability to recruit. That is why LSU is so successful. They have good coaches, but they recruit nationally 24/7 and their recruiting staff is elite. You have to get the right players and then coach them up.
The good part about it, he outcoaches his recruiting. At Memphis he could only get 3 stars mostly, yet they stand at #15 in the country and even sent a walk-on to the NFL. Recruiting what he needs to be successful to Florida State will be easy.

Mike Norvell is very impressive --- P.J. Fleck-ish intensity but without as many buzzwords and jargon. Memphis doesn't seem like the easiest place to win championships at either...lots of reasons to be optimistic with Coach Norvell.

With all if that he just won more and recruited better and developed more fucking playmakers every year. In Memphis everything is EARNED so he will definitely either get the most out of a 5 star or expose him as lazy and entitled. I mean just do some research on him and the players who developed under him, like Anthony Miller with the Bears and Tony Pollard with the Cowboys.
There wasn't advanced statistics to look at in the Al Golden days. If so, Miami could have dodged a bullet. I looked at advanced statistics of this guy to try my best to find a red flag, whether that be his resume or coaching tree. However, the deeper I dove, the better Norvell looked. I believe FSU just got an absolute steal and one of (if not the best) young coaches in CFB. Many people didn't like the hire at first, but looking at advanced data and metrics, this guy is the real deal. If you are a Miami fan, I don't' think you are going to like this guy very much in a few years.
The fact that the Florida-FSU game was relegated to the SEC channel, that's saying something. That game always had national implications and was shown by CBS, ABC, or prime time ESPN. But it hasn't been that way for a few years now.
