» WHERE IS NEPHI FROM?
I am native to Bacolod City in the Philippines but in the recent years I have been moving and living a lot in different countries like Singapore, Japan and the US due to the nature of my work. I was in the US when I started this channel but I am currently in Indonesia thus the confusion to some where I am truly based.
» MUSICAL BACKGROUND
Former band vocalist of Akita performing at K-Pub in Ayala Cebu, Philippines (2019-2020)
Former band vocalist of Big Three Band performing in Yokohama 7, Yokohama, Japan (2014-2016).
Former member of the Filipino Voice Symphony (2010-2011) where I was taught by professional chorale singers (e.g. former soprano from UP Madrigal Singers). Our singing group bagged the "Gold Medal" in the International A cappella Championships held in Singapore in 2011.
Former university choir and singing trainer at Technological University of the Philippines Visayas.
» WHAT IS THE GREATER GOAL?
My mission is to promote music among different regions and try to make people from different countries relate to each other through music and singing. I have always believed that even small gestures in understanding similarities and differences towards others actually lead to greater awareness about countries and their people.
In this modern world full of things that divide humanity, it is but perfect to put efforts in re-uniting and building bridges among all of us.

Actually Nephi, gaya ng madalas mong sabihin, PINIRMAHAN na ni Julie Anne ang role na Maria Clara! Honestly, I never thought that she will be damm excellent for this role!! Ang galing nya ng "silent" acting ala Nora Aunor na mata lang ang pinaaarte! As for her singing, I guess we just have to thank her voice coach, Ms. Jai Sabas Aracama, who is a classical icon in the Philippines. Ms. Aracama was the one who trained Julie vocally for her concert Julie Sings the Divas. Remember her rendition of the song ADAGIO from her concert! I did expect her to sing this way when I heard a snippet of this performance in one of the teasers. Somebody also said that this is not the last performance of Julie Anne in this teleserye. I read in one of the comments that she will sing again and also play the harp! Limitless talaga!! I am really waiting for it!!! Thanks Nephi!!

This teleserye was a great move by GMA7 to remind the world of Dr. Jose Rizal and his thoughts.

25 yrs ago, GMA7 had produced a big and very intense movie about the great polymath, his life and death, and many little details.
I believe this can be translated to the international situation of today. But it is almost impossible to mention it.
The issue seems blacklisting.
I cannot mention this movie anywhere in social media. If this is systematic, then everyone should know about this, and spread it additionally to this new, Rizal related work.
One point here is that we have restrictions in emotionalizing, which is a colonial privileg of the preachers of the regime. An emotional movie against mainstream today can be disappeared almost a 100 percent.

This type of song is normally sung by a classical soprano. There's an appropriate technique in singing this genre. Her rendition is not really perfect but the effort that she put into it is commendable considering her training is more on pop music.

I hate to be a killjoy but I can't not say this. If this were considered as a Ave Maria (Bach-Gounod) cover, then this could pass as a nice one because Julie has a great voice but if you experience learning the song like I did way back when I was 16 years-old then there are loads of errors in this version. The piano is not in sync, her breath marks are all over the place. Check the score. I just wish they pay more attention to such masterpieces before they use them in shows. There is a score, please follow it.

Weird flex and sounds pretentious but such scene is not the highlight of the entire series, and anyone can make their own versions and need not to be purist. There’s no other mainstream actress in the country who can meet the demands of the role.

And if you're saying that not being the highlight of the series means it's okay to be ignorant of facts and things that seem to be not important to the "masa" or to people like you then shame on you. Every scene matters and is a thread of a large tapestry. Respect and be knowledgeable. Uulitin ko. There is a score. This scene could have informed viewers like you that this Ave Maria (Bach-Gounod) is a popular version based in JS Bach's Prelude No 1 and never tinugtugan using chords like how it was done in the show. And even the editing if you use your ears, hindi sabay. Just the facts.
