If you call this diver homage to Rolex submariner, than every diver which came after submariner with round indicies is also a homage...IMO, this seiko diver has it's own personality and should not be in the same context like other homage divers like steinhart, davosa, tisell etc. which are pure homage watches of submariner.
Hi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I do believe it is a homage to the sub but As I mentioned in the video it’s “undeniably Seiko” and not a copy in the fullest sense. Many other brands although not complete homages have taken design cues from the sub as it’s an iconic design.
well, the bezel grip, dial text placements and details such as the circle on the opposite side of the minute pointer could be alteref aswell if you want to avoid people seeing this as a homage. tho it's just my opinion and i still love the seiko🙏🏼
Do you also call the submariner an homage to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms because of the bezel too?
It looks like a Seiko homage…
@@DavidRonYes I do. 🙂 Joke. Rolex took a design cue from blancpain and formed a style of its own. The submariner doesn’t resemble the fifty-fathoms. However this Seiko does resemble a pre-ceramic sub in my opinion. I appreciate that you may not agree and can respect it. 👍🏽
This is a proper dive watch with decent specs and accuracy without being oversized. If this is a homage in any way, then this is the watch and price of the stuff Rolex should be making if they were remaining true to their origins. I regard this Prospex range as the best decent Seiko available for a reasonable price. Looks good enough for business but is tough enough to be used as a genuine dive watch. Quite a few people have referred to these models as being “a supposed to be professional dive watch”. It is actually an ISO certified professional dive watch and that accounts for the price. Worth every penny and will put a smile on your face every time you look at it.
Well said mate! I bet Hans Wilsdorf would appreciate this as a precision tool if he saw it on a divers wrist. (Don’t tell the snobs I said that) 😂😂😂
Just bought the watch. It’s a tad bit smaller than I thought it would be, akin to that of the SKX013. Conversely, it wears a bit larger than the 013. Size wise aside, I love the watch. It’s very practical, tasteful, and can be worn from the most casual of occasions to even the most business professional type of occasion. And man that blue is delightful. Goes great with a navy or charcoal suit. The watch reminds me of the 90s Omega “Bond” Seamaster with a blue that’s not ostentatious but subtle and with an overall package that can be worn, as mentioned before, in various occasions, as well as can survive the elements. Long-story short, it’s a great watch and I love it!
Hi Filipe. Thanks for the comment. The first day I wore it it felt small but by day three I had adjusted to it. I agree on its practicality and how versatile it is. Definitely love the bezel colour too! My father owns a 90’s Omega Seamaster and it played a part in triggering the hobby for me! You’ve just given me the idea of reviewing it! Thanks. 👍🏽
Thanks for your review. I have small wrists, am a fan of dive watches in particular and a bit of a Seiko fanboy. When I first saw this watch it ticked a lot of boxes for me. Modest, slim, and clean. Decided to pull the trigger and have subsequently sold my trio of SKX watches (which I liked and admired but seldom wore). This watch has been on my wrist since the day I bought it and love it. Yes, I think it was overpriced but at least it’s making up for it in wrist time and not languishing in my watch box!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts James. The SKX is a classic. Glad you’re enjoying the new watch as much as I am. 👍🏽
Agreed, I bought the black version (SNE573) and it has been on my wrist every moment since then. Great watch!
Nice review. I bought this at the weekend after eyeing up different Seiko watches for a while. Love the aesthetic, the size, the weight and practicality. Very happy with it.
Thank you! And I couldn’t agree more on the aesthetic and practicality! Great little watch!!! 👍🏽
L'ho comprato per alternarlo al mio Submariner e al GMT Master II...e l'ho scelto perché preferisco orologi che non superino i 40 mm... E questo Seiko è molto comodo!
Grazie per la tua bella recensione!!😁
You’re welcome and thanks for sharing your experience too! 👍🏽
It's not a homage. The bracelet doesnt look the same, movement is different, hour and minute hands are different, there's no cyclops, size is different ... lol did you want me to keep on going?
Hi mate. I don’t think it’s an exact copy and have mentioned that it has strong elements of Seiko styling. I do however think that there are design cues that are clearly inspired by the pre-ceramic sub. The circular and rectangular indices along with the triangle at twelve. Classic pre maxi-dial sub elements. Although a different size, the case profile gives off pre-ceramic sub vibes to me. The grey bezel reminds me of a faded aluminium bezel on a vintage sub. I suppose the word “homage” can be subjective at times. Still an awesome watch on its own merits. 👍🏽
I couldn't care less if it has solar what ever on it. I have a St. Moritz from 20?? That is a 38mm Diver ( standard quartz). I love it , wear it more than any of my others because it is comfortable but getting old and I'm looking for its replacement as a daily.. it would be nice not to change batteries every so many years. I don't like auto's , I like accuracy, and refuse to pay the price of an accurate auto to abuse it the way I do. I guess this will be my next buy.
Thanks for the review.
Hi my friend. Did you purchase this in the end? I had to look up the st moritz. Looks like a classy piece. 👍🏽
Great review and content for the first time. I would recommend a quicker cadence in voice delivery. The slower cadence does make the review “drag” and my attention did begin to wonder. I agree on the case, movement accuracy and bezel look legit. I would have to dump the bracelet because the clanging sound would drive me crazy. A third-party strap or bracelet would solve that I think. Wonder if a 3rd party sub bracelet with a knock-off glide lock would solve the issue? Has anybody tried that with this watch? Mechanical inaccuracy kills me for the price.
Hi. Sorry for the extremely late reply. Thanks for the tip. I often think far faster than the words come out and end up slurring words so have to slow down to ensure the delivery is clear. I’ll definitely work on it for future videos. I haven’t seen a glide-lock third party bracelet but I know the Long Island watch bracelet has had great reviews. 👍🏽
I just received this watch 3 days ago. I have a 7 inch wrist and this watch fits perfectly. Sadly, my Seiko King Turtle will probably collect dust now. This one is just too perfect. Nice review sir!
Glad you got the perfect fit! I was looking at the king turtle not long ago. Great watch too. 👍🏽
The watch head is let down by the awful, fake 3 link bracelet. So often the case with affordable Seiko's. I bet it will look fabulous on a decent bracelet or strap. The watch head tho' very nice and with the practicality of solar power. Great video thanks.
I agree on the bracelet. I really wish seiko would up their bracelet game especially with their rising prices. I agree on the case though, I love it!
Nice review. I bought the black/blue SNE575P1 and immediately ditched the bracelet and put it on a Zuludiver strap with blue edging. Looks the part and the watch itself is an excellent piece. Perfect size too.
Thanks for the feedback. That sounds like a great combo. I enjoy mine on Nato’s and tropic straps. 👌🏽
If it’s homage, I’d rather say that is homage to Grand Seiko Diver, because hands are almost the same.
Some may argued, that to some extent, all watches are homages.
I’m glad the designers went for Seiko hands as I don’t think I would have purchased this if it had Mercedes hands. Thanks for the comments.
@@Thewatchera1 I own this watch but with chocolate dial and light brown bezel. I definitely wouldn’t buy it if it had mercedes hands. Now it’s my daily beater
🤩 Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight 🙏 great video 👍
solar quartz, sapphire, 200m diver and diameter suitable for my small wrist, the perfect watch for me!, I got the black one with rubber band, lovin' it. Nice video, and kinda of agree with your criticism about the letters in the dial.
Thanks mate. Great Combo. Love the black one too. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have! 👍🏽
Great objective review, I have just pulled the trigger on this watch, and having a small wrist this little beast is an anomaly in the dive watch world at this price point. What I love is the case size, ` the lume, and its genuine diver. This is a watch for all occasions just swap out the strap and you can dive, where it with a suit, or glide straight into happy hour. What I don't like is the crown, it is akin to the Orient Ray11 you need pliers to screw it in. The band is basic and heavy. This is where Seiko have let this watch down, as they are an afterthought why have a stunning Lamborghini with cloth seats!!
This sums this watch up, the only thing that has made the purchase justifiable is I picked this up brand new for around 280 pounds From Star Buy a gray dealer in Australia, which I highly recommend always has great prices and quick delivery. No, I am not affiliated just thought I would pass on some good fortune.
Hi mate. Yes the crown is tiny. Glad you got the model at that price. Hope you’re still enjoying it. I agree that it’s an anomaly. It’s like a no nonsense tool watch alternative to the BB54. Hope you’re still enjoying it. 👍🏽
I have the all black version (wanted the flat black dial) and when I bought it, it went right back in the box for a week. I felt it was too small... but then I got a Yema Navygraf, and thought this one was a bit goofy in size. Cracked the Seiko box back and never looked back (and sent the Yema back :)). Love the damn thing and it looks good on whatever strap you put it on (nato, rubber, perlon,...) and the muted blacks on the bezel and dial are just right. This one's a keeper and I just WISH Seiko comes up with an auto. The dimensions and fit is close to perfection.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this piece. I agree the dimensions are brilliant. Your experience sounds similar to mine! The all black version looks great! I wish it came with a bracelet though. Hopefully strapcode/uncle Seiko do it some justice. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
@@Thewatchera1 I too am looking for a metal bracelet. Is there any news on that front?
Excellent review with genuine and original appreciation of this piece. Well done indeed, with useful information for a prospective purchaser!
Thanks for your feedback my friend! Im glad you found it informative. 👍
Congrats with your very first vid. You made a good review, I totally agree with your impression.
Thanks for the feedback my friend. Appreciate it! 👍🏾
Great review! If this watch is homage to anything it's 16600 Rolex dweller. Its compact size and small white date window is more than reminiscent. I have 7.5 inch wrists, and generally like smaller watches, and having just bought this on the surprisingly good rubber band it fits like a glove. I plan on using it as my go anywhere do anything travel watch. It's a bargain and looks way more expensive than it is
Thanks for your reference! It does indeed look like the sea dweller with the small date window! Seiko have been doing a fine job with their more recent rubber straps! This watch is just solid. Built like a tank and looks great with some excellent technology! I wish the black version came with the bracelet though. Or even better seiko included both in the box for the price. Still love this though. Enjoy yours! 👍🏽
Just got this watch, its really amazing and looks even better irl. Went into a local store and my eyes immidiately catched the sight of this one.
Hi Stefan. I have to agree with you there. Keep catching myself staring at the dial and bezel. 😉
Hi..just bought this a week, this is my 2nd seiko watch. A unique bezel, elegant dial, compact size for my 6,5 wrist, and quite accurate. So far very satisfied with this... The downside is the bezel edge in the front side have a bad finishing (not smooth).
Glad you’re enjoying the watch my friend. Yes I agree, its a great watch but not without some imperfections.
Beautiful choice for 1st Review video 👍
You don't need to buy this bcose of its small size. Get a solar tuna instead and remove the shroud. 40mm size , better dial is the result.
Thanks for the comment Asmeet. The Seiko Tuna looks like a great watch! I’ll have to get my hands in one for a review! 👍
What is the overall weight of the watch in grams? Is it less than or more than 100 grams with stainless steel bracelet on it??? Need to know before i purchase…
Hello mate. Sorry that I took two years to reply, I haven’t been on here for a good while. I used to get annoyed when I didn’t get a reply from UA-camrs and now I’m doing the same. I don’t think I ever weighed this but should have. Did you purchase it in the end? I sold mine last year but am experiencing major sellers remorse. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Thanks I really like the color on insert. I do not like Rolex any more it is somehow not funny and talk about overpriced. The Seiko made something in a cool and nice comfortable size here. They just relised a PADI version on plain black dial. Tasty 😎
Thanks for the comments and yes I agree. I wish Rolex still made watches with the wilsdorf tool-watch principles in mind. I wonder how he would feel about the marketing, ambassadors, prices and waiting lists if he was alive today. Still, credit to Rolex for managing to independently stay afloat with re-branding after Seiko disrupted the Swiss watch making industry. 👍🏽
I own this watch and typically don't like homage watches. Looking at it now it's starting to bug me. All Seiko had to do IMO was use a different set of Indices. That would have been enough to clearly differentiate it from a Sub. As of of now it's right on the cusp of being an homage.
It really looks nothing like a sub in person.
Thanks for your opinion mate. I think this watch has enough of its own elements to be more on the “inspiration” end of homage rather than the “Submariner copy” end. None of the homage elements take away the fact that it’s an awesome watch with great looks, specs wearability in its own right. 👍🏽
Thanks for your first review. I am not sure I agree with you that it is a homage to the Rolex. There are a number of differences, the major two being the size and that this is a solar quartz. I am not sure how much you have worn this watch but I think the big advantage is its comfort on the wrist and accuracy. Finally, noone ever buys retail price for a Seiko. Did you pay £500?
Thanks for your thoughts mate. Did you watch the entire video? From 7:18 I make some of the exact same comments, stating that it’s not just a “copy” and isn’t trying to be, and that it has significant elements that are undeniably characteristic of Seiko. I did pay over 500 for it but even if it was £500 I’d think it’s overpriced considering you can get an automatic handwinding/hacking king samurai with a ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal for £530 at retail.
@@Thewatchera1 Thanks for your reply. My point is that the watch is often selling for $350 to $400 so wouldn't it be a good idea to let people know this? Cheers.
Great job with the video. I like these watches - chic and fun.
Thanks David! I absolutely agree with you! Fun little pieces! 👌🏽
Good review and a nice watch!⌚
Thank you for the positive feedback! Much appreciated! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Nice watch, interesting presentation style.... like an episode of Play School! 😀
I work with children so that’s probably accurate. 🤣🤣🤣
I ordered this today.
Congrats on your purchase and I you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.
i love this watch
Me too. It’s great! 👍🏽
nice vid thanx. hey you know if it's just a colour difference sne 589p1 vs sne 569p1??
Hi my friend. Sorry for being so late I’ve had a long break due to work commitments. You probably already have the answer by now but the Sne589p1 is a 43mm version whereas the sne569p1 is the 38mm “compact” version.
Do you prefer this or the BB58? Thanks~
Thanks. That’s harder to answer than I would have imagined. I like them both for very different reasons. I purchased the BB58 to celebrate a personal milestone so there is a sentimental element to it. I love the dimensions, the vintage aesthetic, the look and quality of the case and automatic movement, and the brand. I wear it mainly as a weekend watch. With the Seiko I love it for being more functional and ‘grab and go’ everyday watch. I like that it has a date complication and that it feels solid. It also happens to look awesome and is linked to a great brand. If I had to choose between the two, I’d lean towards the Tudor. But i would definitely miss this if it wasn’t in the collection.
@@Thewatchera1 thanks for coming back, i like your thought process! I have a bb58 and is considering adding the seiko to the collection. I like the idea of a non automatic watch as a grab and go watch too!
Nice vlog! thank you.
Thank you for your feedback, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 👍🏾
Do you think it will look bad (too small) on a 8.5 inch wrist?
It’s hard to say. Perhaps if you like or wear smaller watch cases in general it may seem or feel ok to you but if you’re more comfortable with larger sizes it may not be to your taste. Try one on at a dealer if circumstances allow. 🙂
E meu sonho ❤
The bracelet has not got solid links and it has the worse pin and collar system I have ever come across. The watch itself is brilliant.
Can you confirm the material of the bezel insert? I’ve seen aluminum and steel thrown around but I can’t get a clear answer.
Hi. I’ve done some digging and Seiko hasn’t officially stated the bezel insert material. However I previously owned the SPB143 which features a stainless steel bezel insert. The look, feel, texture and temperature to touch on the bezel insert of this watch is identical to what I experienced with the SPB143, and I’ve never seen an aluminium bezel insert featuring this texture, so my assumption is that the material used is the same. Hope this helps.
UPDATE: It’s been confirmed on a Seiko website that the insert is in fact aluminium rather than the stainless steel that I initially thought. See the video from the ‘Escapement and watch’ channel. 👍🏽
@@Thewatchera1 I really appreciate this update! I will check them out. Thank you!
It’s actually nothing like the submariner
Thanks for your opinion I’ve heard many say it doesn’t and many say it does. I’m with the latter camp. 👍🏾
The PADI version looks killer
Absolutely! Took me a while to choose between the two. 👍🏽
@@Thewatchera1 wear it in good health Bro!
Beautiful Watch, Awful lugs and bracelet
Carwow for watches
Haha. I don’t think I’m on that level yet but thank you for the thought my friend. 👍🏽
Just so you know..... there is no word in the English dictionary pronounced anythink. (AND you are English) go figure.

Congratulations on being the first person to bring diva energy to this watch channel! Thank you for reminding me that I’m English too. I genuinely forgot. You’ve been really helpful.
