Actually, the interior on the Escalade is also amazing. You need to go sit in one and you'll see the quality is at the same caliber of anything you've mentioned. Also, the second row does have a captain's chair option, yes.

I bought a 2016 Platinum... and I agree with everything you said. I wanted an X5M or Range Rover--both of which were way more expensive when comparably equipped
No super luxurious car service would ever used nothing other an escalade. European SUv' s in the US don't even catch anyone's attention and will never compete period.
I've always hated the fact that the Escalade was nothing but a gussied up Tahoe! And no amount of wood or leather can justify a $96K pricetag!! Cadillac is heading in the right direction with their focus on improving brand image and quality. However, if they hope to effectively compete with the German competition, they'll have to start engineering and marketing their own technology and powertrains.
I thought this was another biased meh car review. However, I loved how you pointed to its Silverado $23k underpinnings and very valid critiques. I had the Escalade rental on the recent trip just recently and I agree with everything said. Not worth the 80k+ Caddy is asking. However, my family has a 2007 that has 230k miles that we got in as a repo about 8 years ago so its had a harsh life. Our neighbors a couple doors down had a 2002 that were handed down to their teenaged kids over the years had one that lasted until 310k miles until the transmission crapped out in 2014. Good to see neighborhood dealerships used in the video - from Agoura Hills.
Excellent review first and foremost.I see a lot of people say this vehicle is over-priced at the 90 plus thousand dollar mark. But my pricing complaint would have to start further down the family tree with the 2015,2016 Tahoe which is priced at or around $65,000 grand.
The Silverado is a PICKUP TRUCK... A more accurate comparison would be the Chevy Tahoe but comparing the Escalade to a pick up truck which weighs 1 1/2 to 2 tons less than the Escalade is absurd. If the quality of the shifter was subpar for a vehicle of the class, your comments would be relevant, but otherwise you're nitpicking. Whenever ANYONE sees my 2016 Escalade with Kona interior and real wood inserts, I get compliments. NO ONE complains about the shifter. Your personal and subjective hang ups about the shifter also being used in the Silverado are not keeping these > $75k vehicles from flying off dealer lots and no other luxury SUV has reached this level of iconic status which other manufacturers strive for. This vehicle has its problems, no doubt, but the shifter isn't one of them.
I'm not trying to stop anyone from buying an Escalade, or any other vehicle for that matter. However, facts are facts: the Escalade is built on the same platform as the Silverado, and thus shares many components. It's great to see that Cadillac has stepped up its game to improve interior quality, etc. But if Cadillac is charging $90 some grand for an SUV, don't you think it deserves uniqueness? Nit picky? Yes. Justified constructive criticism? Absolutely.
I never suggested that you were trying to stop anyone from buying this or any other vehicle, however that response seems very defensive. Clearly, you feel that your criticism is constructive, but your perception is purely subjective, and the strong sales GM is enjoying from this vehicle, which is at the top of it's class, would indicate that few people share your criticisms, constructive or otherwise. Yes, the vehicle deserves uniqueness, but GM is no different from Lexus using parts from Toyota, Infiniti using parts from Nissan or Acura using parts from Honda. The Escalade DOES have uniqueness as neither the Silverado nor the Tahoe has interior motion sensors, a digital instrument panel or CUE. Ultimately, my point remains the same... The vehicle has it's flaws, but the stuff you complain about matters to few.
The column shifter shaves so much space on the console, I wish more vehicles had them. They should consider changing the handle's shape and maybe even make it out of metal to differentiate it from other GM products though.
I'm not sure why people are bashing the Escalade for its price tag. There is a huge difference compared to it cousins if you look at the level of technology it offers, luxury, style and etc. The Yukon Denali is nice but it is not as nice like the Escalade and don't stand out like the Escalade. I have no problem paying $20K grand extra for it. The current Escalade could get a major refresh and the next generation model could be substantially more different than its cousins. Also complaining that the Escalade shares the column shifter with it cousins is ridiculous. Just admit that you have a problem that the Escalade shares its platform with the Tahoe and Yukon and you refuse to consider it if you were in the market. The interior is maybe the nicest Cadillac offer, and you are trying to complain that it comes up short to the G Class and Range Rover? If there was no badge on this vehicle and it was covered up like in spy shots and you happen to get inside of it, some would think it was over $100K quite easily. And you are making a big deal out of the cargo area for nothing when you can fold the seats down. Just funny how Cadillac manage over 3700 units this past September. Cadillac is doing something right and they got me hook on this vehicle. This review needs a little bit of more polish. One of the worst reviews ever.
OK, I admit it. I do have a problem that the Escalade shares a platform with the Tahoe and Yukon. And yes, I probably wouldn't consider it if I were in the market. For the Escalade's price, I'd opt for a Range Rover.
johnls39 Yea, I wouldn't spend my $ on the Escalade either. I hate the infotainment system and those tail lights are hideous. Too much $ spent on gimmicks and useless features. I'd never use the majority of the features.
I agree with you. I don't think premium manufacturers should reach into their lower end partners parts been. BMW and rolls, Bentley and VW do the same 😛
20k dollars more, but without that 20k more. You don't get those beautiful additives, like the Cadillac infotainment system, the refrigerated arm rest and many more things.
Stop complaining of parts sharing... your Silverado would not cost $23,000 if it wasn’t for cars like this that eat up some of the losses GM takes on base models. Also, as an AMG and M-Sport owner... I can tell you parts sharing is great. Cheaper repair prices are great. I’d rather have I dressed up part from a Silverado that costs $80 than a uniquely made part exclusively made for my CLS63 that costs $800. Even if you have money... seeing money burned repeatedly just makes you loose feelings for the car. I’m super happy with our new Platinum Escalade. Absolutely perfect SUV that blows the GLS and Q7 out of the water. The Navigator is the only other good competitor imo, but at that point I think it just comes down to personal taste... both are awesome!
Other reviewers such as Motortrend.com has rated the Platinum edition of the Escalade as having a better overall interior quality than the Range Rover. So if they conclude its better than the Range Rover, I don't see how $95k is super insane considering the price of the Range Rover, non-autobiography.
The iDrive system is AWFUL. The CUE is SO MUCH more user friendly. This is coming from someone who owns a X5M and 16 Escalade. Also, I like the shiny bits on the dash. It looks nice. To me, the dash is nothing like any GM product (hence the reason Cadillac has really differentiated themselves from GM). The palstics are no different than those in any other luxury SUV. But, as you said this is a real truck. I like it because it has the best towing capacity in any full sized SUV. Also, the column shifter. It's the better design as you create so MUCH more space in the center console. Not sure what you're talking about "components". You want a different column shifter? Also, you missed the secret compartment in the dash. I'll assume you didn't know about it. ;)
Pound The Pavement haha yeah I'm really young too but the iDrive system that was introduced in the early 2000's I believe; on the 7 Series, was absolute horrendous. The controls were not user friendly, it was such a hassle, always confusing and if someone was not a techie, then forget about it!
I took my Escalade into the dealer for service today, but I wanted to see how much one of the tail light would cost if it went out..$1000+ because you have to replace the whole light why am I shocked?
Grandizer 45 it has air ride with magnaride the rear adjusts ride height Many times like my Range Rover. I know because i owner both. Range Rover before this Escalade.
Adjustable petals. I have it in my Yukon slt, and navigation and all seats are heated and a sun roof and real wood. so if you don't want to spend 100,000 dollars on a car just get a yukon it's exactly the same for ALOT less.
No leg room if you get hit your stuck for sure. and this design sucks it looks like a box and the old dodge SUV model. The interior is o'k but in no way is it worth the sticker price. I drive the Escalade its alright, but don't all SUV's come with this stuff.
No, it rides better than a Silverado, but I just can't get it out of my head that, considering what Cadillac charges for it, it's based on the same platform as the Silverado.
I like the Cadillac Escalade except for the giant tail lights. Really? I drive a BMW X 5 and I recently broke a tail light which is half the size and it cost $500 + to replace. I just can't comprehend the purpose of this design.
Saying that the Cadillac is basically a 23k pick-up track is tantamount to saying the re is no real difference between Usain Bolt and some other ordinary dude, Same structure!
Nice vehicle but as usual GM decided to cut corners when the powers that be concluded that going with the Jurassic era shift column would be good enough when this car should have either a high-quality rotary or electronic push button selector. In an SUV at this price point, it this is totally inexcusable as it looks like a poorly executed and compromised afterthought. Also, GM dropped the ball once again by not offering a panoramic sunroof.
Yes, exactly! Seriously, a column shifter in a $90,000+ luxury SUV? Like I said in the review, GM simply hasn't done enough to distinguish the Escalade enough from the Silverado truck on which it shares a platform. There's still too much parts bin sharing going on and that needs to stop, for Cadillac at least.
Exactly! Why indeed. That's precisely what I'm questioning. Basically, Cadillac is trying to move upmarket, say more towards Range Rover. Jacking up the price of the Escalade was one of the fastest and easiest ways to begin doing that. Will it work? Time will tell. In the meantime, I think the GMC Yukon Denali is the better value: ua-cam.com/video/DnHzkzbapFQ/v-deo.html
You're alone on that one. Cadillac has built in a huge brand within itself with the Escalade model. The GMC is cheaper, but that doesn't mean you choose one over a Escalade lol. I think you are getting too caught up that its a Cadillac, rather than a massively popular Escalade. And as you mentioned in the video it being a gussied-up chevy, I would love to hear you review a Bentley Bentayga as being a gussied-up Volkswagon (Which it is). Because if you think the Escalade is too expensive, than how about a $230,000 Bentley??
Trent James Entertainment don't get me wrong, cause the Escalade is my favorite SUV but what about the other SUV's that's out there like chevy's Tahoe and Suburban and as you mentioned GMC's Yukon and Denali. I really think it depends on what you're looking for inside of a SUV and what you can afford.
I had one of these (2016 model) on a roadtrip from coast to coast last year and yet again a great example of how not to do interiors in a luxury segment. I don't know why americans can't do good interiors in general. How hard can it be, hell just hire european interior designers to do the job if that what it takes. This truck takes way to many shortcuts with the interior for a car in that pricesegment compared to all it's rivals. The dash looks like a generic cheap korean car and there is an abundance of cheap plastic and glossy blacks. I guess real wood and the fact that the the dash doesn't flex like in the old one are the only advancements they made in the interior department. Great tow capacity, space is good if those are requirements for you, and it's a comfy ride on american straight roads but outside US this car is trash to drive compared to similar cars in the price range. I would never pay premium for a masked truck like this. To me interiors are hugely important since that's where i spend alot of time, I need "the feel", and that's where most american cars falls short. I don't know what accounts for bling, but whatever it is, if this car is bling then bling is not for me. I'd much rather buy a Volvo XC90 or equivalents of the big three germans in that pricerange over this, even without "bling". Just my opinion.
Paul Williams it's sad you think this is better than it's competitors. Clearly you've never been in a Range Rover or a g class. I love this truck and I own it but something like a Range Rover is much more luxurious. Only reason I bought it is because I like the exterior
Yes, exactly! A $90,000 Escalade is a bit nuts, in my opinion. Cadillac is trying to re-position itself as a competitor to the likes of Range Rover, but perhaps it shouldn't.
u fucked cadillac by this description type :) i love cadillac cuz its looks unique between suvs and hp , gmc denali have awesome fornt look but it made by plastic interior and around 100hp less than cady and gmc name is not that luxuries as cadillac it woth 20k extra i think

This is a 2016 Not a 2017
this vs range rover LR4 for northeast USA
any ideas ?
It really boils down to personal preference. Drive them both and then decide.
When are they releasing the 2017 Escalade?
It's on sale right now.
95k?? damn! thats too pricy :/ for the quality they are giving , but still it can be a good car for the price in the coming year .
My thoughts exactly.
K.C.'s RC not exactly outstanding , its good for the price there are better for that price i think :)
Range Rover's limited edition models costing over $200K maybe but nothing compares to the Platinum. QX comes a little close to it though.
Other reviewers such as Motortrend.com has rated the Platinum edition of the Escalade as having a better overall interior quality than the Range Rover. So if they conclude its better than the Range Rover, I don't see how $95k is super insane considering the price of the Range Rover, non-autobiography.

I really think it depends on what you're looking for inside of a SUV and what you can afford.
I'd buy the Lexus LX 570
I hate brushed aluminum. And touch screens.
$127,000 CAD
Supercharged !!!!!!!!!!!
Just my opinion.
did he insult ford Explorer because it's a borrow chaasy ummm Ever 1.35 min.. but i thought this one from ta....well you know
I think it's bullshit my note 8 doesnt fit to charge lol
Black and beige would've been better. Too much beige
Can y'all send me the car
you voice sound like krish fix or crish fix ummmm
Who the hell buys this car? It's just not nearly as good as its competitors.
Lots of people are buying this car. You'd be surprised.
They need to make major updates.
It's way better then its competitors
Paul Williams Did you see the new ford expedition? Not anymore.
Paul Williams it's sad you think this is better than it's competitors. Clearly you've never been in a Range Rover or a g class. I love this truck and I own it but something like a Range Rover is much more luxurious. Only reason I bought it is because I like the exterior
Seats could be better ,
simply try BMW X6M
small interior.
too expensive..... I can get for less that am aunt bmw 2017 x5 full in loaded. ...
Yes, exactly! A $90,000 Escalade is a bit nuts, in my opinion. Cadillac is trying to re-position itself as a competitor to the likes of Range Rover, but perhaps it shouldn't.
so lucky just $90,000 u can buy this car in your country. it not expensive. in my country it sell over $200,000.
Go ahead sellet in your country for 1.000000$...........
u fucked cadillac by this description type :) i love cadillac cuz its looks unique between suvs and hp , gmc denali have awesome fornt look but it made by plastic interior and around 100hp less than cady and gmc name is not that luxuries as cadillac it woth 20k extra i think
Bottom line: the Escalade is still, at its core, a Chevy Silverado 1500. Enough said.
No way am buying this GM piece of crap. Get a BMW , get a Bentley , get a Merc
Lmao those aren't any better and cost way more to repair
