Uncharted Travel 2022. - Розваги
Those paper cups are 90's.There was also a credit card processor. Lay the card down , put a carbon copy receipt on top of card then slide the red thing over, have the customer sign it, give a copy to customer keep one for business. That is why credit cards were embossed.
I was just about to say that those cups have the Jazz design which came out in the 90s, so the diner operated atleast until then.
i got my first credit card in 2010 and the ONE place i went to still had this carbon recipe thing.. but they switsched to a regular machine soon after..
I still remember ever so fondly using those credit card processors. 😄 It was fun if you had your finger in a wrong spot and a bit of your skin got pinched when you rolled back and forth with the slider. On top of that, you had to act like nothing happened, because of course the customer was watching.
@@lenajesse from reading about them I think what you described gave them their nickname of "knuckle busters"
Much like this diner, we all thought this channel was abandoned
Coming back!!
@@UnchartedTravel Nice
@@UnchartedTravel thank God, you're literally one of like four channels I have notifications for
@@UnchartedTravel wut the fuck took u so long bruv? 🧐🧐
@@UnchartedTravelfinally! So happy!
10:09 My dad enjoyed you trying to figure out the credit card printer ("It's not a reader!"). He says they would put your credit card on the metal brown bit towards the bottom right, and it would in print your credit card numbers as well as a charge. They would generally make 4 carbon copies, one for you, one for them, one for the credit card company (It would have to be mailed to them! Wild.). People would steal the carbons to get credit card numbers.
Damn thats crazy!
We called it a knuckle buster 😂
Sorry you've been going through some tough times Brennen, but glad to see you back keeping us entertained - looking forward to some more Alone episodes :)
Thank you so much!
So excited to see more Uncharted Travel. I've been missing this channel.
Thank you! Happy to be back!
The blue "curtains" were actually for the bathroom towel dispenser. But it just rolled a cleaner spot on the roll. Before paper towels.
Thank God I'm not the only one who remembers the rolling towels in public restrooms 😂👌
Thankfully, there were companies who kept them sanitized, but geez, thinking about the germs wrapped up so tightly on the dirty rolls tucked back up into the machine kind of turns my stomach now 😜☣️⚠️
@@SherrySherry Exactly!
You guys trying to figure out how a credit card swiper worked is cracking me up. It used carbon papers to print tickets and receipts.
Really reminds me of a chain of old diners we had in Ottawa called "Rockin Johnnies". It's amazing to see the place in such good condition. I've found most diners end up pretty run down; this actually looks better than some of the places I've eaten in!
Very cool! It definitely looks like it could reopen tomorrow
The retro cups were popular in the early 90's! I remember seeing them a lot
I saw an instagram post not only a few days ago, with that JPEG imagine of that cup design, with the caption. "I don't know how I remember this but I remember this". And there the mystery is solved
floor tiles and seats are from the early 70's, the drop ceiling is 80's, the wall paintings are from the late 80's, the styrofoam cups are from the late '80s or early '90s, cash register from the late '80s or early '90s, and the omelettes price were from the earlier '90s. so I guess the last served was before 1995.
Nice place to discover
Welcome back and take it easy. Losing beloved ones is very hard on the mind. I have been very down after losing my dad. Its a struggle to get up again. Love watching your vids.
Thank you
This made me tear up, I can see the family that owned this and it looks like they just had to walk away one day. So many families probably passed through here.
Missed your content, bro. Glad you're back!
Thank you! Glad to be back!
The equipment and décor ranged from the mid 70s to the mid 80s. Based on the prices (though I'm not as familiar with historical Canadian currency values) the menu seemed to reflect the mid to late 90s. That's when I think the restaurant itself was shut down, even though you said the owner of the property sold it in 2005. So I think what we're looking at is a restaurant that used old equipment for a long, LONG time. That telephone was definitely circa 1980. The coffee machines were from the mid to late 80s. The Coke machine was early 80s, perhaps 79. Those manual credit card receipt machines mostly went out of vogue in the mid 90s. In the early 2000s you would still occasionally run across some old Mom & Pop stores that would pull one of those contraptions out. Very cool video, man. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for making this! Ciao!
That's not charcoal, they're lava rocks to absorb and radiate the heat.
The “motor” is actually refrigerant lines and a compressor to help cool the cabinet. Serving veg, they need to keep it a certain cooled temperature. Also, the grimy under counter cabinet was a refrigerator. That temperature gauge monitors the temp inside it. 👍
Great to have you back! Great vid! 😊
Thank goodness it wasn't an "Alone" episode gone wrong but good to have you back
Long time no see! Any abandoned alone overnighters coming?!
Working on a couple for this year! If all goes well then one will come out in a month or so 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Cool find. The credit card machine receipts had carbon paper. No need for ink. Carbon printed onto the paper.
You should have checked the date on the milk carton!
It was 2005! Im kicking myself i didnt show it on camera!
Yes, thats for credit cards, it would print on one copy, and the pressure would transfer the carbon to the second copy.
You have the best urban exploration content on this platform…..
If you could somehow plan a way to get more stuff posted,, more frequently,, this thing really has the potential to be seen by MANY many more people….
Glad to see an upload 🤙🤙
(Although,, what makes this channel so good, is the quality of locations,, which I’m sure are not easy to find)…. I’m just saying, you deserve to be much more popular
Not checking the date on the cream was a missed opportunity. :/
Edit And don't leave faucets on! Major faux pas.
I did off camera and it expired in 2005! My bad for not recording it! Thank you for the heads up!
@@UnchartedTravel Again, because it's important, don't touch faucets, toilets, breakers or any electrical. Don't even flip switches.
You don't know the state of any of the infrastructure and you could start a fire or flood.
yes hes baaack
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Well worth the wait. First 30 seconds I thought it was fallout irl 😂 😂
Thanks Brennen!
Can't believe I'm just seeing this three weeks after the upload! I was wondering where Uncharted Travel has been.
Really like the intro with the music .. Great touch. Thought you had quit this channel but I’m glad to see you back.. I suffer with a number of severe mental health conditions and these videos help relax my troubled mind
So cool to see you back Brennen!! And hey to Jake!! Wow this place was a time capsule!! The cash register looked a lot like the Casio model that I used to use at the shop I worked at in the early 80s. Not familiar with the receipt machine however that was new to me. Such a cool little place, very interesting! 💯🌈👱♀️ Cindy
Thanks Cindy! Glad you enjoyed and glad to be back!!
this fills me with awe and wonder and a little bit of hunger
There he is. Missed you Brennen.
I love the video! Glad you're back ❤️
Yay!!! So excited to see a new video. Hope everything is well Brennen!!
Thank you!!
Loved the opening of this video. Felt like I was in a liminal space nightmare.
Glad to see you back! This is one of my top channels and you've been missed. It was a long hiatus without any new content but glad you're back!
Another very enjoyable and produced video! Cheers, UncV!
So glad to see you're back! I can't wait for some new Alone episodes!
Thank you! Glad to be back!
I might be wrong.
But those rolls of blue fabric were probably reusable drying towels for the bathrooms instead of paper towel. They went into a similar dispenser but you use a knob to roll out the sheet and the part that’s been used gets rolled back into the dispenser. Again I might be wrong.
Mostly correct 😁👌
The King has returned!
The editing? *chefs kiss*
The vibe? *chefs kiss*
The music & commentary? *chefs kiss*
The cookware? *grimy*
Glad you're back!! And it's good to see Jake again!

I feel like I saw this Same Restaurant on the Internet years ago. And they said it had been abandoned back in 2008-2009. Very cool video always love these kinds of places.
10:26 is for credit card purchase's. You put the price and date in the machine then lay the credit card on the machine then put in a paper on top of the card and number's then slide the orange block on the left to the right to copy the information onto the paper receipts. the call them a credit card imprinter
Oh fantastic to see you back 😊 What a fabulous find, such a great design... Apart from keeping the food weighing scales Just above the loo so lovely gross particles can fly up through the air to land over various food preparation items each time the loos flushed 🤢😮 Other than that, fabulous place, I really loved the taps handle at the ice-cream section 😊 Looking forward to seeing more videos from you when you're able 💖
Thank you so much!
I just discovered and sub'd two days ago. Amazing young man, just need some decent boots. 🤠
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the content! And yes I do need a good pair of boots!
Loveeeee ! and miss these videos! Glad you posted this one
Really happy to see you around again Brennen. There was a really happy point in my life where i was sharing your vids + the ADR vids on the daily! Hope for the best for you and your creative goals! :)
I am so happy to see you are back!! I have missed your work, so much. 😊😊😊
Great to see another video! Love you guys. Fascinating place!
HI! BRENNEN, NICE TO SEE ANOTHER OF YOUR VIDEOS; I ENJOY IT THANK YOU. 👍👍
So glad you're back man! Have missed your content!
Glad you're back! It's awesome to see Jake too.
I love how the jazz cups were left behind.
Super excited to see this new video, as I just recently discovered this awesomeness ❤ I love the attention to detail and the interesting information shared during the videos. I look forward to more of your adventures.
Thank you so much!
This was a fantastic exploration! It's great to see you're filming again.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing!
Glad you’re back!
Great video man!
Wow! I’ve sure missed Uncharted Travel…..glad to see you back!! Loved that diner video….gets me back to a more innocent simpler time!!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy!
Yooo hes back!
glad your back! 😁
Another great video
This must have been shut down by the Board of Health. No way would they have passed an inspection! Gordon Ramsey would have had a fit.
You could tell it wasn't 70s or 80s just by looking at the lights, all power saving lightbulbs
thanks for sharing ❤
Fantastic find really maybe someone would renovate it revive it ? Retro dinner inn maybe ? Would be cool 😎
The coat rack being directly above the toilet and next to the urinal in the employee bathroom was disgusting.
Cool video. Welcome back.
Holy sh*t! You guys are back!! Oh happy day.
Awesome to see a fresh upload brother! I was hoping you would check the service date on one of the fire extinguisher. hope your doing well.
Thank you! Been doing better thanks! Hope your also well!
Well howdy, good to see y'all again.
This place would be a perfect place to come during a zombie apocalypse and shelter down with scavenged food, water and a few close people
Welcome back Brennen
Great video
Yes he’s back why did you take a break?
Had some personal stuff going on, but im back!!
@@UnchartedTravel I’m glad you back!!
oh woww my favorite urban explorer is back brennan how are you this was a coool diner i love diners like these its good to see jake from bright sun films back as well will u and dan bell be doing any another dirty room eppys again soon let me know love yu guys goood to see ya take care and be safe exploting
Welcome back!
Because there are no smoking signs on the wall and going by the coke machine and stalls and colour decor i would say the diner is late 80s to 90s since smoking in diners were banned mid 80s.
Thanks!
2:58 OG Cool Kid Cups 😎
Looks like someone comes and still takes care of this place
Nice editing on the intro!
Thanks!
JAKE LOOKS SO COOL WITH A BEARD!!!💗💗💥💥💗💗
The credit card reader was used in the 90s too. I remember them well. 😅
9:24 Yes, tetnus with a side of bronchitus, or any other disease caused by inhaling mold and consuming rust/lead chips.
A Bingo earned for you guys coming back!
A true original remembers the bingos!!
Hope to see some new videos soon 😊😊
Sad to see that it was demolished at the start of the month
We were pretty backward back in the 60s 70s
Lol
Cc machine 😮😂
He's back
90's Diner
The pricing of the dishes makes me believe there is no way this is from 40+ years ago.
This reminds me of the "Dead Like Me" TV show
You're brave for touching the stuff in the refrigerator! Yuck! 😨
Hmmm...I'd say this place started up at the very end of the 70s and died late 90s ish. Seat colors definitely 80s pastel. Most appliances fit the early to mid 80s and just never got upgraded.
Those cups at 3:00 have the "Jazz" design which debuted in 1992. The CC cameras at 3:53 look to be Sanyo VCB‐3424 models which were B&W and sold from like 77 on.
15:37 check extinguishers for last inspection date, should give you an estimate for the closure within 12 months.
Greetings from mexico 🎉
There would've been a date on the milk carton 😮
I was late 2005! Im sorry i didnt record it!
Blue linen were called roller towels for drying your hands in the toilets, you can see them when you went in the Ladies.
The design on the cups is called "jazz" and date from 91-92 i think, don't quote me on that.
You can tell by the prices that these were from a 90s decade. They would be too high for any time before that.
And that one is gotta be probably 70s because the one I saw in the 90s it actually would print out through the cash register and then you would put your card on and it would go across so that machine got that thing is probably from the 70s or early 80s
