I commented on your superior biking abilities and fabulous comments on motorbikes (especially on the Triumphs), then I saw THIS! Your flying abilities are SUPERB! Is there ANYTHING you can't do? You are a true inspiration TMF! Love your videos, a loyal fan forever! -Steve- (from the Great State of Texas)
Really good video :) Thanks for sharing. I'm flying in to Duxford tomorrow from Elstree as my first land-away as a PPL student, weather permitting - this video's been very helpful! :)
WOW O'm glad I stayed to the end, the snaps were great. I'm a biker and a flyer too. The bike is a Royal Enfield Himalayan and the plane is a Paramotor...Not quite in your league but at least my fuel bill and hanger fee's are cheaper.. So There LOL. Great channel enjoying all the videos. Thanks Sandy
I had to give way to a warbird on the hard runway when on final and take the grass last time I flew there. I remember it bounced a little in the tiny Tecnam Sierra.
...you have to be careful there as technically if there's an aircraft on the hard runway the grass is also deemed occupied - at least it is on air show days. Always a great place to visit by air or two wheels, we're lucky to have Duxford!
Just came across this and yes I know it’s an oldie, however what beautiful lines has the Spitfire. An elegant and deadly beast of the sky. Duxford is on my bucket list. 44 more days until I arrive to your shores. Nice video ‘Mr Flyer’. Don’t forget this one, nothing more useless than the runway behind you, the sky above and the fuel back in the bowser. Funny how flying, motorcycling and sailing seem to attract us. Fly & ride safe sir. Rusty, former regional pilot, current GS rider.
Nice landing - not dragging it in on power as many seem to do these days - 3 degree glide slopes are for big Boeings on instrument approaches! I've flown in a few times in the Chipmunk. Approaching Duxford one day we were following 'Whirlygirl' in an R22. Duxford told her to put down next to the B17 (Sally B). "What's a B17?" she responded! Took a while for her to love that down!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Sometime in 1990s I was flying south in our Chipmunk in Manchester Low Level Route (a VFR channel through the Manchester Control Zone 5nm wide and 1250' high). Manchester Approach called the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to me as opposite direction traffic. Sure enough, I saw and reported a Lancaster in sight in my 11:00 opposite direction with a single engine piston fighter on each wing. In turn Manch called me as traffic to the BBMF; "roger, we have the Chippy" said the captain of the Lanc. As we drew level the Spitfire (on the Lanc's left wing, so on 'my' side) peeled off and performed a perfect barrel roll before re-positioning back on the Lanc's wingtip. One ex-RAF taildragger saluting another. Made my day!
I had the opportunity of flying a friends aircraft a few years ago out of Goodwood. I flew it with careful instruction along our seafront then over to the Isle of Wight, it was a marvellous experience especially passing over our house with my wife waving lol. The hard bit was all the bits relevant to flying such as radio speak, navigation and the instruments etc. At least I’ve done it and I do understand why you probably love it so much.
England is such a beautiful country been there many times. motorcycle rides are great. I saw on your flying video you taxied by a pby brings back memories as I have 700 hrs on a pby 5a water bombing, owned many small air craft favorite being Piper archer, any way I enjoy the rides and can't wait till spring to get my Kawasaki Voyager 1700 out , keep up the great vids
I assume you're in the US then Terry? Well done spotting the Catalina, it's resident at Duxford and group owned (pilots like me can actually by a share in it!)...having 700 hours on the big beast is quite a thing, I'm very impressed indeed......and who doesn't love a piper Archer - I flew in a Dakota (Piper) yesterday - unlisted video here >> ua-cam.com/video/we9UOFU3T5A/v-deo.html
Great video mate! I have a friend of my daughters who owns a Cessna 172 and will be happy to take you flying around Austin if you ever make it to Texas!
TheMissendenFlyer we have been very fortunate compared to folks in Houston which has been devastated by the flooding. It will take years for Houston to recover.
Thanks for the guick reply, im in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan, canada, . I have close freinds in Devon, southwest England , wife and I were there last year now there turn this summer to come here then will be taking them to the Rocky mountains for site seeing. If you ever get a chance to ride the sw, would like to see more of the country side and coast, by for now
The Dakota is a great aircraft ,my buddy had a older one ,235 HP with constant speed prop , we flew that one to Bahamas, that would be another story as I had my DC 3 endorsement at 18 years old and first officer, and flying Aztec and 310. My best buddy is in Devon, a pilot and retired air traffic controller as I was, I must get you his name and address , he would be very happy to offer some refreshments, let me know how to pass that along, by for now
...yes the Dakota is a very usable aeroplane, me and my pal flew his down to Majorca in the Summer - took us 6 hours flying time with one stop mid-France for fuel and a comfort break!
Nice video Mr. Flyer. We have something in common. I was a flight instructor for 4 years in California. Stopped flying about 3 years ago due to expense and my age ( 70). I will enjoy flying with you in these videos. Thanks again...Sal : )
Cheers Sal - bummer if you have to give up your wings.....where in California? I've flown out of Palo Alto near San Francisco in a 172....as well as Palm Springs, Bakersfield and a few others...
I have instructed in Santa Barbara, Eureka, and Santa Rosa. I live in Rohnert Park, a suburb city of Santa Rosa. I am one hour north of San Francisco. I just retired from Respiratory Therapy. I worked in San Fran. Will be moving to Thailand soon to retire there. Wow, you have been around California. It's a great place to fly. The name of the airport in Santa Rosa is the Charles Schultz Memorial Airport. He created the Charlie Brown and the Peanuts characters. I don't think there is much general aviation in Thailand. It was just time for me to stop, but I will keep riding the motorcycles. Take care and fly safe....Sal : )
yes its another great way to see parts of the world. when I had my pa28 140 it took me seventeen and half hrs from Saskatoon to Treasure Key, spread over 4 days, The next trip was in my piper Apache , 14 half hrs, slow but pure comfort, cheers
Sounds amazing - I've only ever flown once in Canada and that was in a DA40 from Edmonton (just a local bit of sight seeing) - given the natural wonders Canada has to offer perhaps the least inspiring spot to fly I could have chosen!!!
Nice flying! I subscribe to your motorcycle channel and didn’t know that you flew. I should have guessed with your flyer handle! Doh! I love planes and would love to fly but I have a terrible fear of heights! I have to make do flying Flight Sims on the PC!
I miss flying. Got too expensive for me. I was young with kids, had a family emergency and had to give it up. I did get all my solos and cross country flights done. I think I had like 45 hours. Just needed about 10 more to get my license, but, oh well. At least I know I could do it. Safe flying!
Lovely video. Now, I know this must be a question you get asked way too often but I just came across your flying videos (I subbed for bikes) and I just have to ask: how much does it cost to do it? Not just the license but the plane, fuel, all the other things I don't know about; approximately how much does it cost you? I'm really wondering how it compares to sailing for example. Thanks
Hi Leuff - it'll cost you between £7-£10,000 for your licence (PPL) and then if you fly the usual sort of light aircraft about £180 an hour if you rent (which is what most people do to start with). If you buy an aircraft then the costs get a bit more complicated! How does that compare to sailing???
TheMissendenFlyer Thanks! No idea how it compares personally but from what I've read on the all powerful Internet it's quite similar. "Where cars end boats begin" as my father said.
Had no idea you were a pilot as well. Flying and biking go together somehow. What are you flying now that G-IGGL has gone? I fly a 182 out of Denham as well as driving a 1200GS and a K1600GT...
There is a documentary on UA-cam about a passenger who was with his friend pilot when the pilot suffered a fatal heart attack. With zero experience landed the plane albeit with some guidance. UK video
I certainly do - as it happens I have a mammoth trip planned for tomorrow, Maidenhead (Berkshire) to Son Bonnet (Majorca) - it's going to be a good one!
Watching this makes me wonder how the heck anyone can land a Plane! (I am obviously not a Pilot!!) but you looked so calm. Were you ever nervous when you were learning? I could just see myself screaming on runway approach with my crossed!!! 😂
+MrJpb2000 Oh Crikey Yes, when you first take the controls as a rookie pilot you do wonder how on earth you will ever master everything that’s going on. Like all these things though, one step at a time and you gradually master it....going solo for the first time, that is a Big Day!
well thats even worse..........i flew a tb9 a couple of years ago......and a friend killed himself in a tb10.........flew into the ground in IMC ! it made the bbc news
TB 10 is a nice machine ......imc not good if your out of practice.......are you going flying legends this year..? i am going to miss it.........sailing to gurnsey.......bad timing
I am watching all of your Motorcycle videos and I was asking myself why you have "Flyer" in your name. I thought it may have to do with the fact that you like to drive fast, therefore "flying" your bikes. And then I came across this vid. :)
Only just found this one, Flyer. Possibly my PC's upholstery filter jamming it. Looks like a 1970's Granada interior! More flying vids please!!!
I think the interior is actually Renault based (the TB10 being a French aircraft, this one from the 80s)....

Nice one Russ - and yes, if you’re coming over a visit to Duxford is a must!
Great video, lovely photos.
Cheers James....
I can't wait to fly into Duxford!! Great video.
Got to be done! Duxford is a fabulous place....we're lucky to have it to fly into. Thanks for your kind words....TMF

Glad you enjoyed it....

Just came across this TMF, fantastic video...you make this look so easy..!
Thank you sir - I've been flying for many more years than I've been biking...it seems easy now but it wasn't always that way I can assure you!

Wow, sounds like a great offer - cheers PP - hope you've not been badly impacted by the hurricane/floods????
TheMissendenFlyer we have been very fortunate compared to folks in Houston which has been devastated by the flooding. It will take years for Houston to recover.
Glad to hear that, though sorry for those in Houston....

Ahh cheers Terry - my in-laws are in Devon so I go there quite frequently, not quite as spectacular as the Rockies though! All the best - TMF

Great video again, have you been up to Wellesbourne? They have a Vulcan which on Saturdays you can climb into the cockpit!
just stepped back from flying had a Savannah stepping back into biking now. fly safe. T

Nice old planes. Reminds me of a series called 'Plane Resurrection' we watched on Netflix recently.
Yeah I watched that recently too - so sad about Maurice Hammond (the Mustang/Merlin man)....
Plane Reviews? 😎 Awesome stuff!
...if I find it hard to get bikes lent to me to review, imagine how tricky it would be to borrow a light aircraft!!
Nice flying!

Yes it is a pricey ol' game, I have to make every flight count these days.....
Nice touchdown. I too love motorcycles and aeroplanes - come and have a try if you're ever in Thailand.
You're a man of great taste clearly!
Just watched these again from a long time back. Maverick on the headset. Hahaha! Where's Iceman?
.....she was at home looking after the kids!! :0)

Hi TMF, nice. Have a good trip and fly safe. Enjoy! Sounds like an awesome trip.
TMF - any turbine experience?
An hour in a jet provost and two hours in a 777 sim - other than that, nada

sacrilege 3 empty seats ! .........mixing it with spitfires at Duxford is priceless...........done it twice now !
...actually the TB-10 is certified to carry 5 POB!
well thats even worse..........i flew a tb9 a couple of years ago......and a friend killed himself in a tb10.........flew into the ground in IMC ! it made the bbc news
