Where is that? Everywhere I've checked it's out of stock, including the official page. I ordered it from a site called Floating World Comics but it said it's on backorder so idk if it's going to be up soon or if they just didn't mark it as out of sale *i just saw you meant last month. i assume those are the ones shipping june 14th. still, I'm worried about the backorder thing.
As great as Mork Borg is, there's something about that doom metal aesthetic that I've struggled to get my head around. However, there's a folk horror eeriness to this that really appeals to me. I can see them working together well.
This book is a real gem, and if you add the D100 Dungeon World Builder to it, you have a real souls-like world. Piece of art. I hope they reprint it asap.
Got this a week ago and couldn't put it down. It's the closest a book like this has come to making me feel like I was playing through a souls-like solo rpg without ever writing anything down. Incredibly evocative.
For me Its like just a musing generator, all sorts of dense details to dwell on little scenarios and imagination to take bits to run away with. Very cool. The art is awesome, very dense, dark antiquarian look.
My god why doesn't someone make a game just of this book. It seems unbelievable. Thank you so much for bringing this awesome book to my attention. Definitely going to look for this one.
After seeing your recent reception of Cyberflesh, I researched the publisher and found out about Vermis.. lo and behold you already have a video on Vermis.. it was love at first sight.
European folk horror at its finest, it gave me nostalgia of old stories my grandmother used to tell me. Plus it reminded me of rpgs and jrpgs i used to play
Definitely going to add this to my growing fantasy source book collection. I also can see this book as a good source of home-brewed cards for Doom Pilgrim.
When I wrote instrumental music I would often think of it as being for a specific scene in a specific genre of film, to the point of giving the music titles like 'A Suicide Wouldn't Cut Out His Ident Chip. Suicides Want Someone To Know Who They Were'.
I just got the Foresaken Edition in the mail yesterday. It’s so beautiful. I love the unique style it’s written in and the art is AMAZING! I’m at the swamp right now, and I’m forcing myself to stop for a little bit so the experience lasts longer lol
Thank you for reviewing this very evocative book! That was fascinating. I absolutely love the style of the moody, dark art and the twisted creativity of the world.
As I understand it, this is actually meant to be a guide for a fictional video game, rather than a tabletop game, hence the pixelated quality to a lot of the artwork. The second volume even says 'game disk not included' on the front, and the plastiboo 'logo' looks somewhat reminiscent of the Nintendo logo... But of course it would be a great inspiration for an RPG setting or something like that.
I was so sad when I finished it, I would read like 5 pages and put it down to stop myself from finishing it, finally it happened, and I just came to the conclusion, ill read it again. I'll be sure to preorder vermis 2 also
Vermis is the true masterpiece, the feel of the world it creates resonates within me still. Part 2 is confirmed by the autor:) I'm hoping for the hardback collective edition in bigger format In the future.
I love this book. Got my copy a couple of weeks ago. Very inspiring, and honestly, it's a piece of art. I plan to make a custom leather cover to make this slice of darkness justice. It deserves the best. Thank you for reviewing it!
I snagged a copy and I'm so happy I did. I know most people want to use Mork Borg for this source book but I want to try the Dark Souls TTRPG. I think steam forge did an alright job converting the feel or Dark Souls to a modern style TTRPG.
got my own copy too ^^ It is just soo great and inspiring ^^ So inspiring that right now there even is the 'soundtrack' of this game, that not exists, being 'restored' and uploaded now. Really. that is just great stuff ^^
Ben on Questing Beast sold me on this. I love it. It’s so evocative and “sticky” in my mind. I’m going to use goodies from this in a game for sure. The fiction itself is haunting
This game gave me Demon souls vibes. I remember the white and black system. The more good you do the damage against evil spirits increase and vice versa. Plus, it unlocks certain areas, or you can use certain items. I luv the art and might get the book to improve my Dming skills.
Soo so good, recently picked up a copy and might try and work some of its dungeons/monsters into my solo campaign of Mork Borg. Do you think you'd ever do something along these lines on your channel? I'd love to see it!
I just ordered Vermis 1 and 2 last night. I can't wait to get these. I like the atmosphere of the Souls games but somewhat dislike how hard they are. I would love to see Vermis made like an old school dungeon crawler like Ultima. What music is playing the background here?
I'll have to grab one of the next print run (The site says the 20th of July) It's been recommended to me for a while and I regret not investigating it sooner.
Can I triple check Vermis I and II is still available? I ordered both earlier today and have received an order confirmation and order number, but I keep on reading there are limited printed copies and it's only for October - I can't not have these pieces of art in my life 😩
@@TheDungeonDive what makes the first better in your opnion? For me i found the second one had a cooler story and atmosphere while the first one was more in tune with the guide and video game part and had better diverse locations, more worldbuilding and nice moments (mirror maze antics could get a little stale but it was a very nice book to read only if you read the first one first)
Thanks! I'll look into those. Although the cruel thing doesn't sound too appealing. :) I like dark things, but when they move into being cruel or mean spirited, I don't.
I ordered my copy 2 days ago. Daniel, what do you think about the "restored soundtrack" of Vermis ? And have you heard of the solo RPG Thousand Year Old Vampire ? Good to see your channel doing so well, I guess/hope it means that you are too.
I don't usually listen to composed soundtracks for things, as I like to put together my own soundtracks when I do listen to music, so I haven't heard this one. I have definitely heard of Thousand Year Old Vampire, but I haven't played it yet! It's kind of a classic in the realms of journaling games.
Sometimes I wish I was European so the currency I use wouldn't be abysmally low compared to dollar so I could get a hand on this book. It's legitimately awesome and I already plan on doing a Mork Borg one shot in my High Epic Fantasy setting, using this as a primary inspiration. Also could you please drop the name of the track that's playing in the background? This very cool, dreamlike ambience.
I know this is a hobby channel, but speaking of dungeon synth/music, I love the genre but do you know of any bands, genres, albums etc that move a little close to something like a concept album or prog rock? I love the sounds but I'd love to find something with a little more form, pace or melody to it.
if you like this you should check a game called Kingsfield 4, and Lunacid (Kingsfield's spiritual successor) check their music especially, good for environmental ambient feel
I’ve played many of the Kingsfield games! Been a fan of From games since the PS1. I’ll look into Lunacid if it ever comes to Xbox or Switch. Looks cool! Thanks.
Thanks, you always find the coolest stuff. It seems you can plug a lot of this into many TTRPG or sandbox games, and modify/create appropriate stats. Where to find a copy??????
Do you happen to listen to the TeamUnwinnable podcast, Daniel? I find it a funny coincidence that you bring this up after that channel just recently made a podcast about this game. Just curious if you listen to them too? 🤔
@@TheDungeonDive That's a funny coincidence then, lol. I highly recommend checking their podcast out. They cover pretty much primarily retro roleplaying games. Even the very obscure ones that no one has ever heard of before like this Vermis game. You might find a lot of new roleplaying books to check out on there and review them here on your channel. 🙂
As of 5/30/23 there's a new batch for sale. I just ordered a copy.
Thanks for the tip!
I am so excited for my copy to arrive.

I just got mine I am not disappointed thanks
A fear and hunger like game in this style would be GODLIKE
Fuck yeah

Hell yeah!

They’ve reprinted it, I bought a copy yesterday! Hopefully there’s still some left, but hurry!
Plastiboo is working on a vermis 2!
Vermis 2 is out and Vermis 1 is in preorder for reprint until mid-October

Same difference, just a matter of theming. It’s a guide for a video game you can play on your table. :)
I've had my eye on this one for a while. I think they are currently out of print or between print runs, so super stoked to see you cover it!
Just got my copy the other day, love it.
Yes, this is outstanding! So full of awesome content that I still find new small surprises every time I browse through the pages.
I felt exactly the same way. More more more.
Ordered this book today, always wanted a artbook by plastiboo as he is one of my favorite artists, and I am SO EXCITED
Glad it has come back into print for people to pick up!

This one looks so brilliant. I definitely want to pick up a copy at some point and can't wait to see what's next from the creators.
Love these spotlights on these hidden gems.
I can understand not wanting to finish it. Felt that even more with the second one, took me way longer than you'd think given the word count :)

I don't necessarily have my focus on the same games that you play, but I do get a lot of inspiration and insight from your videos really often!

Yep! Great game.
Need that book and some Bone thugs n harmony added to my playlist. Still some dope tracks on the old albums😎
The art of the book it reminds me the anime/manga Berserk
Way to call out bone thugs, so old school, so good!
Every track E. 1999 is great. We used to skate to that back in the day.

Not sure I get the equation.
Looks really depressing. I don't need any media that feeds into that.
