My son ( technically step-son but I've been in his life since he was 3 weeks old, he's mine just as much as my biological kids ) just turned 11 , I showed him this song a little while back and when we finished it he looked at me and said " That's why you tell me all the stuff you do, that's what a daddy does " then he gave me a hug and went back to what he was doing. I think I might be doing something right 🙂.
I play this every Father's day and dedicate it to him, even though he's not here anymore. I was blessed with a Great one.

This is my granddaughter’s favorite song to sing karaoke, ages 6 & 7. I definitely should have had them 1st.
This song hits differently as I go through life. As a parent, I have my children to try different things and they knew whatever happens, I would be there for them.
Then as I got older, I lost both of my parents. Then I fear of passing and the hurt this will cause for my kids.
Another one that’ll soften you up for a minute is called ‘Believe’ by Brooks & Dunn. It’s’ beautiful. ❤

I paused this before it even starts. I lost my dad almost a year and a half ago. This was our shit. It reminds me if him. Ill cry for the next ten minutes but I'm good with it. Let's do it.
I remember as a kid my dad was my hero...he worked installing air conditioning and would work all day and was also a volunteer fire fighter so he wasn't home all that much but to me was he was a superhero....we didn't get along all that much when I was a teenager and during my 20's... nowadays I'm scared to death of losing him. The older I get this song gets harder and harder to listen to

It's a positive song about family and how father's should be. When I heard this, it brought back the times my dad and I butted heads and I said things that haunt me to this very damn day and I'm getting old now. The older I get, the more time seems shorter and I miss mom and dad. After I said things, he passed away a year later. I was messed up back then. Wish I could do things over again but that's how it is. Very sad song.

One thing I've noticed that no one who reacts to thus song has pointed out the last verse. He talks about writing a song good enough to say I love you to his father, and finishes with that's his job. I just think it's interesting because he pointed out that even though his father had different dreams he supported his son so much that his son did achieve his dreams and goals of flying out west to sing.

And I am beyond baffled that you're reacting to this one. This is a song I heard when I was a little girl and literally ran up to my daddy crying, holding on to his leg. He asked me what was a matter and I told him what I had just heard and he started crying too. This same song was the one he thought of most with his father that had passed not that long prior. I was like 4 years old and will forever remember this moment.

I just subscribed because of this reaction! My father passed away 1/4/21, my parent's 41st Anniversary, he was my hero exactly the kind of dad you are describing! Conway was one of his favorites, so this song became my song for him long ago. Ringtone to played at the funeral! Thank you for being an amazing DAD!!

I played softball for 12 years. Little league, travel ball, and a UF program. I've had coaches that supported me and amped me up to better myself if i made a mistake. But, I've also had coaches that one strike out or bad throw and you were garbage. You are very right, coaches tremendously effected the players. I understand that feeling man. But anyone that loved a sport remembers those amazing plays and fun games. After all of the leagues i tried, little league was my favorite years. Just a bunch of kids having fun learning and watching yourself grow in the sport. Can't trade it!

Yes!!! Even after you are gone you can and will be their light! This song killed me on father's day last year. They sang this song in church on the father's day which was just a few months after my dad died. I almost had to straight up walk out of there. My god is was so hard to sit and listen through this song. I knew it already but hadn't heard it in so long. Dad's are amazing!!
