Just bought a new trailer and I told my wife the cheap bathroom faucet is the first thing I'm replacing with the exact same tap you installed! Thanks for posting.
Good idea with the homemade washers Lou. 👍 I still wonder why RV manufacturers install those bathroom faucets with low spigots barely enough for hand washing. Thanks for the pointers... stay safe! 👍
I live in New Zealand in a Cottage imported from the USA. My forcet is the same as you changed out. How do i change the washer as my shower is dripping thanks for the steps to take.
I did this to every faucet the first week we had the coach, only issue I have is the holes for the bathroom faucet are drilled into the counter instead of made into the sink like yours and the faucet isn’t centered to the drain! It’s off by a good 1.5” and apparently that is .5” past how far it takes to drive me nuts! Lol.
Oh that would drive me crazy too. Try a plumbing supply house they may have base plates you can use that will allow you to drill new holes to center it. I agree with changing these things out the first week. I want to do the kitchen faucet very soon!
I know exactly what you’re talking about, I call them “goof plates” lol. I’ve looked for one but our sink is a corner sink and the faucet takes up the whole corner with only 1” on the one side and 2.5” on the other ( yes it should be equal on both sides lol) and all the goof plates I can find won’t fit without having to cut the corners off it.. I think I’m going to try and find a sink like yours with the holes built in, we could use a bigger one anyway! Also keep an eye on your local big box stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot for your kitchen sink, I’ve bought several over the yrs that were on clearance because of missing parts and those parts can usually be purchased at the same store for cheap! The kitchen faucet in this motorhome is a Moen that sold new at Lowe’s regularly for $189.99 but was on clearance for $40 because it said missing parts, I opened it in the store and it was missing the large nut that holds the unit to the counter and I was able to buy it from Lowe’s that day for less than $5! I’ve bought a few others the same way that were missing a hose or something else cheap!
Yes goof plates! Sounds like a new bathroom sink is in your future. Great tip about the faucets on clearance. Thanks for always watching and taking time to comment.
No you can buy most any faucet but may need adapters as most RVs are 1/2 inch and many faucets are 3/8 inch. Be careful many bathroom faucets come in different widths so make sure you know what your RV needs. To see the adapters I use see the video I did about installing a kitchen faucet.
Thank you. I discovered my bathroom faucet is leaking and had no idea how to remove it. You just saved me $200. But the pex is leaking so I need to change those. And my water valve is stuck. So this is one job out of 3 that I can do without paying someone. Yuck! Plumbing it's so fiddly but I just took the door off my cabinet to have room to reach up underneath the sink.
Thank you! I can’t seem to get the hot and cold pipes to not leak. I have connected and disconnected at least five times. What am I doing wrong? My bathroom is actually smaller than yours but I can get my head under the sink. I can feel them tighten. The new faucet is brass. Should I replace the water lines? I actually replaced the faucet last year and had no leaking issues. This week, I replaced the sink and thus needed to disconnect the faucet again. Now leaking …ugh help please!
Unfortunately that is not uncommon. Certain types of wrenches specifically designed to reach under sinks are available. A sales rep at the local hardware store can point you in the direction of the right tools.
In almost all cases yes. I just did a video on replacing the kitchen faucet. I used a residential faucet. The only thing you may need is an adapter to go from the RV plumbing to the faucet connectors. In my case the RV plumbing is 1/2 inch and the faucet was 3/8 inch. Picked up the adapters at Lowes for a few dollars. Take a look at the kitchen RV faucet video i did it will help you out.
I thought of that but the nuts were bottoming out on the faucet before making contact with the sink. The hole in the washer were big enough to go all the way past where the threads stopped. Thanks for watching.
5 minute job. Ha ha. Famous last words. There is no such thing as a 5 minute job on an RV. Good job on the video. That’s a tough shot under that bathroom sink.
LOL isn't that the truth nothing is ever as you plan it when working on an RV. It was even tougher doing the entire job by feel and not sight. Good thing I have long arms. Thanks for watching.
Good idea with the homemade washers Lou. 👍 I still wonder why RV manufacturers install those bathroom faucets with low spigots barely enough for hand washing. Thanks for the pointers... stay safe! 👍
Thanks. Glad to see your pinch points, so I'm not blind sided.
Great DIY. Now I want to go faucet shopping. Lol Thanks! - MJ
I really hated that faucet MJ. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for another how to do it video. Your channel is my "go to" channel for how to fix things. The home made washers was a great idea. Thanks Lou!
Thanks Patrick I appreciate that. Hope all is well.
Like your washer idea. 😀 Changing out our bathroom faucet took care of the problems we had since the rig was new. Good Job Lou!
The washer solution is 'woodworker meets plumber'. Thanks for watching.

Couldn't agree with you more
@@RVHabit where did you get your new tap?
Got it on Amazon. There are links below in the description.
@@RVHabit great thanks!
I shoulda had the RV dealer do that when I had them put in the porcelain toilet before I picked up my rig! /facepalm
Thanks for this video. I’ll order some extra washers ahead of time. Hopefully avoid a trip to the hardware store!

I think the answer is cheap. Thank for watching Tim.

Nice upgrade, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Rickbo.
Nice Lou, my next project on my 2801 Forester. That faucet is laughable. Thanks.
It really is pitiful for the price these RVs cost. Thanks for watching Al.

Thanks for making great videos!
when buying a new facuet, does it need to say specifically for RVs or does it just need to have those 2 sides for the hot and cold water?

Ugh you have your work cut out for you. Good luck.
Thanks for another great lesson. Is there a low point drain in every class C ? I can’t find mine
Yes typically all RV's and trailers should have a low point drain. Good luck.

Check that the washers are in place and in good condition. You can also try a little plumbers tape.
do you replace the drain mechanism as well with the one that comes with the faucet? Don't like the look of the cheap plugs that come with sink
I did not but if it will fit you certainly can. Some RV bathroom sinks it will not work.
What if its REALLY tight and VERY awkward position?
Unfortunately that is not uncommon. Certain types of wrenches specifically designed to reach under sinks are available. A sales rep at the local hardware store can point you in the direction of the right tools.

double nut it with the nuts of the old faucet Boom done! could have saved you 5 mins lol the old taps are junk anyway
I thought of that but the nuts were bottoming out on the faucet before making contact with the sink. The hole in the washer were big enough to go all the way past where the threads stopped. Thanks for watching.

Ha fifer price is tougher than a lot of things. Lolol

Absolutely! My faucet is so low and it leaks up underneath! Awful!
