My boyfriend bought one for his 93 Trans Am here in Texas in December . And its a real good product. It passed the stress test of the Texas weather. It is real reliable. More throttle body Response and improved torque according to him.

The best way to install the Optispark is to remove the cover and turn the Rotor by hand and it will fall right into place... start your 3 mounting bolts then put the cover to the Optispark back on... I just did this job on my 95 Vette.. there is a special socket set you will need from Autozone to remove the 3 tiny little bolt/screws that hold the Optispark cover on.. like a backwards torque head...

Im curious how you installed the optispark on that LT1 with out taking off the harmonic balancer ? the opti needs to be installed straight on and not angled in, you could force on to that shaft and be a tooth off. Ive installed 4 optisparks and always removed the harmonic.

Yes, harmonic balancer was removed, see 10:45

The Opti Spark Distributor maybe the worst automotive part ever invented. After installing the "Pin Drive" unit on my 95 Corvette and having worse issues with alignment than he just had with a "Spline Drive", is a nightmare. Failure rate with these things is well above normal for automotive electrical parts. Ask anyone that has installed one on their LT1 motor and had to remove and replace it a 2nd and sometimes a 3rd time due to manufacture failure. I purchased a very reputable one from a Corvette source (not made in USA) that failed after the second days test drive that completely quit, then started after cooling down. Three days later the car would not start at all. Currently researching for the best one manufactured, if that is even possible as the original GM part is no longer made, so only after-market parts are available. I am leaning towards the Petris part based on reviews and references or the top end MSD. In closing, the design of this thing, an electrical component mounted below and behind a water source, requiring removal of the Harmonic Balancer to replace, is pure nonsense on the C4 Corvettes.

I have changed out the Ignition Coil, Ignition Module, Electric Fuel Pump, Fuel filter, Fuel pressure regulator, Map sensor, Idel air sensor and the Fuel positioning sensor and the internet says that All these part should be replaced after 75,000 miles so i did just that.... my C4 just turned over 100,000 miles and just started running bad... rough Idel and making a popping and pinging backfiring sound so yesterday I changed all Spark plugs and wires the old factory wires were numbered from the factory... however there was no change in the way it ran.. I've been told that the OBD1 Scan Reader will not tell you if the Optispark is bad or good... so what's the point...?
Just keep changing parts until you fix it or what...? The C4 Vette with the LT1 is an amazing car but the idea of the Optispark was STUPID...!
    THANKS FOR NOTHING GM....
If anyone reading this has any ideas concerning my problem I'm open to any ideas...
    Thanks
    Happy New Year

Sold our car because of the Optispark, and then bought it back. May want to consider running a a different ECU that eliminates it.
