I cry every time I watch this its so beautiful but so sad and a reminder that we all really need to love and take care of our natural environments if we want to keep them.
Brought a tear to my eye... I may not have any immediate plans on having kids but when I do, I will show them this. So many beautiful messages bundled up within one moving story. Truly a story for all ages.
I love the art style. Ohh I really miss Alison as A Fine Frenzy. Seven years later and I’m still sad that she stopped; I was looking forward to more albums with sweet songs like the ones in this short.
Such a beautiful message and has moved me to tears. I can not wait to show this to my children tomorrow, they will absolutely love this. We love your music Allison, thank you for inspiration!
Alison, first of all, THANKS. I totally adore yur music, your style, your messages... i hope you understand me. This video makes me cry a lot. I think you are a fantastic person and that you have som much creativity and imagination... it is almost impossible to find singers like you... you are magical. the story is fantastic. thanks thanks and thanks. from spain. i adore you. keep doing things like these please...
Allison is just an incredibly beautiful human being! Her heart is so sensible and her mind's such an art machine. I admire her so much. Been her fan for 5 years now! :) Love her.
So beautiful it reminds me of two of my favorite books when I was younger, "The Giving Tree" and "The Lorax". I am crying soooo hard right now. So moving and precious:)
Beautiful story and film. This should be seen at every elementary school in the country. I love A Fine Frenzy's music. "Now Is The Start" is probably one the best songs I have heard by this artist. It would be nice if she made animated films for the other two albums.
this was amazing... love your work and love you so much alison. I still listen to your first album, one cell in the sea, nearly daily. saw you once at a concert at cologne in germany and it was miraculous... there was some kind of magic in the air- the same magic i felt watching the story of the pines. hope to see you again soon. please come back on tour. keep up the good work you do and please never stop being so great and amazing. bye, René
Well in the western rockies yes, we've had many dry years in a row so the pine beetles are decimating trees. We could have stopped the beetles with some judicious logging. In the video you can see the cut trees so it implies a clear cut area.
Such a beautiful story. You truly touched the nature lover in me. Thank you for sharing this part of you. Looking forward to hearing the new album! *hugs* ~ Carol
in north america we have lost 23% of our old growth forests in the last couple of years. yes, really. please protest mountaintop removal, logging of ancient forests, cutting down trees in your neighborhood, and global warming contributors. and if you've never heard the songs of trees, eat some mushrooms and go for a walk alone in the woods. the voice of each tree is so unique and beautiful!
No, I wasn't thinking of that, but that is also a sad book as well. It's just the way the animation is in this film. It's reminiscent of the paper cut-out animation of the Reading Rainbow books that Levar Burton would read.
I grew up in S/W Colorado. This is so bogus that I can't believe anyone would believe it! We have lost more trees to pine beetles than anything. Dead standing timber makes for big forest fires. All the folks that make this stuff up need to drive over Wolf Creek pass and look at what was a beautiful forest destroyed by improper timber management and pine beetles. God help us if it catches on fire!
The movie is gorgeous but the message is strange. Fires and modern, responsible logging help forests grow. Trees are always dropping cones so it wouldn't be one tree restarting the forest but generations of cones growing as they get more light. So it's a beautiful fantasy and a metaphor of letting go only. It shouldn't be viewed as an environmental message.
love it I seen it so many times but i never get bored of it is so inspireing ...full of hope and peace ..Thank you Alison Sudol

How beautiful! Alison has such a wise soul!

"As long as you're here, you'll always be here."
HOW COULD YOU DISLIKE THIS!?
I.. This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, I’m crying.
Even if we have nothing left, we can still begin again with a fresh, new start. Don't sit and pine - just renew.
I love the art style.
Ohh I really miss Alison as A Fine Frenzy. Seven years later and I’m still sad that she stopped; I was looking forward to more albums with sweet songs like the ones in this short.

Sorry to hear there are people that aren't connected to their emotions. I am glad that I don't have them to begin with. Otherwise, I'd be a sad sap.
Stanton Roberts so sad
THIS WAS THE WHOLE REASON I CLICKED
♥♥♥
Is it normal to be crying the whole film through?
Oh good I'm not alone.
stere0123 you right
Why does this remind me of a Reading Rainbow book?
