i grew up ion area , in late 70's the road in now didnt exist and the road/ trail was up from bridal falls , a friend and i did it from bottom to top and back in 12 hrs .. I also sledded in in winter ,parked the sleds at the pond in back bowl and bootpacked 3 hr to summitt for a wicked 8 min down after a good storm and lots of fresh powder
for a interesting hike in same area , going up through Jones lk there is a old mine where the ridge between Conway pk and Foley meets Foley ,The Lucky 4 , started around 1900 and worked occassiponally up into the 70/s
Cheam used to be reached from Popkum Road more than 30 years ago. Most of the work is done today by driving logging road. McFarlane requires gaining lower and upper Pierce lakes and McGuire has miles of logging road before trail access. I been to the top of these two as well and recommend them.
@@mikeJones-zo8si I've been up Archibald twice. First from the east ridge and then west. It's a great destination in it's own right, but still a very long day.
Yeah it is truly amazing Joe! One of my favorite hikes too. It helps to have friends with a 4x4 as my Mustang is going NOWEHERE near this mountain! Ha ha ha. Last time I went I took my half golden retriever and half ridgeback dog with me. She was dead for 2-3 days afterwards from the hike but she did thoroughly enjoy it from start to finish. Any crazy but rewarding hikes where you are Joe?
@@LifeOfaMatt LOL, no…here in Illinois, USA all I have available are very tame trails through forested State Parks. I DID do some significant hiking in the Italian Alps when I was young….nothing like standing on a peak, looking down to see clouds and having a snowball fight in August! As you know, you cannot express the emotions…the euphoria of being on a mountain and looking out on the overwhelming beauty of creation…it’s humbling and spiritual! I love that you shared this my friend! Perhaps I will keep it on my bucket list 👍🏔️
@@joesprostreet74gto68 very cool Joe, very cool. Yeah we are very blessed to live in BC with all the surrounding mountains, I try not to take it for granted on a day to day basis. A few summers ago with stayed in Jasper National Park in Alberta. Yeah it’s like the Swiss alps there too, no bad views anywhere. If you do a trip there, make sure you check out the Miette Hotsprings. 2 main hotspring pools with a view of the surrounding mountains. I felt like a member of the Von Trapp family from the Sound of Music lol, part of some elite club. And the best part, it only cost my family and I $20 because it was considered a public pool. Perhaps another one for your bucket list too!! www.hotsprings.ca/miette

At the begining of the 20th century it used to be packed with picnickers at the peak on weekends, 300+.

Ya if you start at bridal falls, hike up archibald then across the ridge to cheam then it would be up there.

Gorgeous!! I’d love to experience that….but I can’t even accomplish step 1 ! 😁 Fun to imagine this hike!

I am going for this trial tomorrow. Hoping for fun ride 😂
Nice! Be careful though, there could be snow up there, bring spikes for your shoes if there is.
what about in january?
@@LifeOfaMatt
Oh yeah! There is a lot of snow up there; I can see it from my bedroom window. It would be an amazing hike but BE CAREFUL if you go.
@@LifeOfaMatt much appreciated
