Love the golden mate white ups. $150 ish on sale. Powers my router, denon av receiver, 65”oled, ps5 no problem when the breaker flips 😂 bought one for my dad too😂
Useful setup. Especially if you live an area prone to power issues. A friend is doing almost exactly what you are doing. Lives in an apartment complex that has had issues. Using a large capacity LiFePo battery and inverter. Saves a bunch going the DIY route. 👍😎
Crazy that you released this video today. I just got my first lifepo4 off amazon yesterday for mobile charging with a hota f6. Went with a 25ah that was $63. I think that should easily keep me flying all day but if not the manufacturer says they can be combined up to 4s4p
I wanted one for the bread maker , twice in one week overnight the power must have gone off and screwed it up ,but they were either Uber pricey/bulky or these models broken on ebay
Just watch out because by putting a massive 20A battery instead of the original 8A battery might give you much longer run time in theory, the problem is with the electronics inside the UPS. They're are not rated to continually run much longer than the original 8A battery. You'll need to install fans just to keep things from burning inside the thick plastic shroud.
Before I say this I want to say that I am a real big fan of lifepo4 especially in low quality UPSes as you will see why although I haven't tried it yet. You say in your video that sla lasts only 1-2 years. This simply is not true. I have two UPSes running for 3-5 years on the same batteries. What makes the difference is a good UPS. Both my UPSes are made by Eaton. I have a line interactive one that has been running for 3 years and a line interactive one that has been running for 5 years. Now I must qualify that the line interactive has a loud fan running while it charges which can take a day when empty. The online ups has a loud fan running 24/7. The time it takes to charge might also have to do with the time the battery lasts. The online UPS also says in the manual it should last for 5 years. It's an expensive model and it still hasn't said to replace the battery. In contrast, I have some other models from Armor Line and their battery in fact was dead after two years and the batteries were significantly diminished after 1 year.
Excellent work, Albert! I had no idea something like that would work! 😃 Well, I'm injured right now... I tried to move a big massage chair and hurt my chest. And if that doesn't kill me, this project should be interesting. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The setup in the video only runs for and hour or so and if the current draw is lower, it will last longer and also generate less heat. He did mention in the description if the current draw is a lot higher, the setup will need to adjust accordingly. However, the one in the video does NOT need air cooling.
I was looking into this idea and noticed that the Lifepo4 batteries BMS seems to limit the current to about 1C, meaning a 20Ah battery can only deliver 20A, which with a 12.6V battery, is 252 watts. Likewise, the 100Ah battery can deliver 100A which is 1,260 Watts. Size your battery according to the power you need. I don't know what would happen if you put a larger BMS on a smaller battery. Just saying if the load is above the battery limit, your battery is going to limit the power output.
Yeah, this 20Ah battery is perfect for the load I have on it which is about 140W and I have tested it and it works without issues. Absolutely, you have to size your battery according to the load and use case.

*note, if you go for a higher wattage setup, you may need higher gauge wires
or a completely different arrangement than shown in this video...

the required phrase is "saving money the DIY way"
Now these APC UPS are useful again and you're saving these from going into landfills. Way to go!
Awesome idea. Didn't think these were useful anymore. Keep making these great DIY videos. Love them!
I was surprised to find out SLA batteries only last 1-2 years! Thanks for sharing this info.! Please enter me for the tablet.
Neat! The APC model you're showing is actually rated for 450W which should be more than enough for most people and their devices. Thanks for sharing!

I needed this video ,saving money the DIY way is the mantra I live buy 👍🏻
Awesome video. Love these DIY projects and these are really useful too.

This is an awesome idea thanks for putting it out there and showing us, cheap way to get a dc to ac converter too!
Now I need to go find some of these at my local e-waste center because I know people are throwing away these by the truckload.

Nice. But i think you`ll need to add extra cooling because these units were only designed to run for 30 minutes or so. Not 6 for hours!

@@frankcastillo8869 I don't think this guy actually watched the video... he's a bot or troll.
