      I couldn't sit up for 3 months or breath/ sneeze without pain after having my twins, (normal weight,nine months twins pregnancy).They forced me to push in a lot if pain for more than 8 hrs... so cesarean surgical procedure finally.Just to tell next day to the students of medicine that ALL my abdominal muscles were torn appart for months before the birth. So I wasn't able to push in the first place.Its not only the time and means to recovery but the HEALING that takes longer.And everyone treats you like if you are fine and only made the effort for one baby and not two, just grabbing the walls with your hands as your abdominal muscles don't support you, anymore..no much left to look good though.

      Well the 100 day tradition was sorta evidence based in those times when the baby mortality rate was much higher so to eliminate any chance for baby to get infected with any illness from outside or person. Yes this may not be as relevant today with advancement in medical technology and what not. But with COVID going around it's better to be safe than sorry.

    I bled through everything for 3 months after having my daughter, and I've never heard anyone mention that until you. • @aquarius2284
      @aquarius2284 2 роки тому +20

      Why are women obsessed with getting back the bodies they had pre-baby just months after giving birth? That's so sad. We're supposed to be focused on recovering from birth and on learning how to take care of the little ones, not on punishing our bodies even further than waking up every 2 hours to feed the baby and barely finding 10 minutes to take a dump or shower in any given day. There's plenty of time to lose weight.

    • @ripplefargo
      @ripplefargo 2 роки тому +23

      @@aquarius2284 I think in Megan's case it's also a form of self-care for her. It's hard to feel like you get to do anything for yourself with the littles. Having even 15 minutes of "me time" is hard for me with a 3-year-old and an 11-year-old, let alone 2 little babies.

    • @JessieBanana
      @JessieBanana 2 роки тому +39

      @@aquarius2284 Going to the gym isn't always about getting your body back, though there is nothing wrong about wanting to feel like yourself after having given up your body to another organism for 9 months(!), it's also about being active. Having twins, working from home, breastfeeding all keeps her pretty home bound. I am sure she is excited to get out and move.
      Woman shouldn't be pressured to bounce back, but they also shouldn't be shamed for wanting to change. That is some BS.

      @da midwif Yeah! Some people have the very weird take that "you must pay X much pain for a baby" and c-sections are major surgery, so I don't understand why people act as if they aren't pain enough. Besides which they can't "preserve the vagina" the way some people think, because pregnancy itself is what causes people to have issues with pelivic floor, and you gotta do your exercises no matter what.
      I had a vaginal birth, and while it hurt to sit, my sister had a c-section and could barely move. Birth is birth, but c-sections are not 'the easy way out' they're birthing a baby via surgery.

    Since you are still bleeding a lot ... ask for an internal exam. You may still have pieces of placenta left and body is still trying to eject. Some Drs will do D&C to clean the uterus up as a last effort. I hope it doesn't need to go that far but be proactive. Feel better soon!

    One thing I struggled a lot with while raising a baby in Korea was SIDS risks. I swear there is no SIDS awareness here whatsoever. My MIL wanted to pile blankets and pillows into my newborn’s crib and would keep putting them back in after I took them out. And my husband wanted to keep swaddling our baby long after she was able to roll which is dangerous. I had to really fight to get them to stop doing crap like that. It was so stressful.

    There is no such thing as a spoiled baby. Babies need lots of attention and love to thrive and be secure. You are right about holding them and feeding them often. In the cold world, no one will love them like their parents. Just keep using knowledge, and a mother's intuition to guide you. I am glad you stuck to your guns. Good luck!

    Huge yes to secure attachment!!! I'm an early childhood educator and we've been taught that the first year of a baby's life is the most important for creating that. Always aswering to their needs helps create it, plus you can't spoil a baby! Having their needs met is so important. So glad you stood your ground on that 😊

    Also wanted to add to your great answer, that babies go through periods on "Cluster feeding". And it's a period of increased development for the baby where they are physically developing (internally and externally) exceptionally fast and they need to be fed more often. Denying them and setting them on a schedule means you're not giving them their needed nutrients during this time. For example if they need to feed 3 times in 2 hours but you already determined you need to feed them once....they're missing out on their needed nutrients!
    Just thought I would add that cause I found it interesting when I learned this in my medical classes.

    Be careful when you're working out at the gym. The incision heal from inside out and takes about a year to fully heal (I had 2 of them) and prayerfully you don't develop scar tissues.
    BTW, the more you breast feed the faster your stomach goes down and the clots will also come down faster but, the contractions sucks 😕

So, I'm never fully present wherever I am and it's a constant guilt trip for not being able to give my 100% to my job and babies." It's a tough place to be for working moms. Feeding newborns on demand is very important… you can’t really put them in any kind of schedule until they are about 4 months old anyway… and the schedule then is a rolling 4hr rotation of feed, diaper, interact, nurse/feed again and nap… and that’s only as they start spending more time awake during the day. Proud of you for trusting your maternal instinct and sticking to your beliefs about the babies well being. Praying for your lovely little family.

    Thank you for your transparency and honesty. You don’t hear a lot of women speaking about what your body goes through or what you are going through in general after giving birth. You & Moon are great parents and it’s amazing to see how the kids will be nurtured & cared for with the mix of both cultures and personalities. I will be praying for healing, recovery and peace in your minds and hearts. Thank you for bringing us on your journey!

    Yes, feeding is on demand the first months and breastfeeding and sink to skin contact creates a bond with your child. I learned this in child development courses. Cramps can sometimes be attributed to your stomach going back to how it was before.

    Your answer to "are you okay?" is so relatable! I totally understood everything in your look and I remember when I was there in the early days. I hope you are able to take in what everyone is saying about what a great mom you are and how well you're adjusting because it's really true. And I super appreciate how transparent you're being. It's really crazy how differently we look at life after we've brought babies into it but you're educating everyone that watches your channel and that's huge!!

      Also if the childcare/preschool situation is anything there like it is currently here, it's never too early to start thinking about where you want to send them when you'll be ready. I felt the exact same way as you described for at least 6 months - no wanting to be away from my baby and not seeing the value in work compared to the value of caring for him myself. Then as he started developing a lot and becoming more and more like a toddler i.e. after he turned 1 I was really wanting him to be in a program that helps him grow mentally/socially even more. we applied to some preschools that I picked for him after a lot of research when he was 9 months, and they won't have a spot for him until fall of next year when he'll be turning 3! These waitlists are crazy. not sure if it's the same in Korea/where you live.

    LOL, I had children in Japan and those baby clothes were da bomb! If you choose the little gowns, lay it flat and opened, lay the undershirt inside it, then baby on top, put the arms in, then start tying. The outside gown was usually press studs. So easy, throw it open to change diapers and you were all done!
    I was also charged separately for the diapers I used in the hospital. One day a van rolled up to my gate and he handed me a bill for approximately $70 for diaper service.
    Cool was, you could use cloth diapers and pop the used diapers and cover pants in a special bucket and they’d collect and drop off clean ones.
    Yes a different but nice experience.

    In South Africa, we have been demand feeding babies for decades (I am a midwife). Some private clinics will help new mums create a feeding schedule so they can get some rest in between feeds, but they would only usually start something like that from about three months, and it’s mostly with bottle-fed babies. If a baby is on the boob, it should be demand fed (that’s how our bodies know how much milk to produce), and that is what we are taught to teach our mums. Most babies are breast fed here too. Bottle feeding is fine, and each mum must do what is best for her and her baby - a happy mum is very important, so I would never judge - but we really do encourage breast feeding.
    You guys are doing great, some stress is normal of course, especially when everyone is exhausted, but it’s heartwarming to see how you are taking all these changes and challenges in your stride - it’s it’s brilliant that you have such a supportive hubby, and in-laws!! You look beautiful, btw 🤗🤗

    The new intro is so cute!! With the babies and kitties. Loved the update on everything and hope you guys continue to do well! I will say that next to the attachment to the baby, at least in the States, moms staying home can be a because of finances. Child care is very expensive and even more so now, so a lot of times it's cheaper to actually stay home and watch the baby yourself. If your entire income would be sucked up by having someone else watch your baby it doesn't make sense for some families.

    Love the openness and honesty. Being a new mum is soooo hard. Not only are you now responsible for the lives of these children, you have to deal with the changes in yourself and relationship. Word of mum advise, remember to take care of yourself. I swore by 10min alone time a day, 1 hr alone time a week and 1 date a month (with hubby). To be the best mum you can be, you need to be the best you first.
