It would be nice to have Woody Shaw and Dexter Gordon in the title of this post... I saw Victor Lewis play last night and he reeeeally gets into his playing... very inspiring...
way back in the mid 70's when Victor was playing with Dexter I was at the show, at Sandy's Jazz revival in Beverly Mass, had the chance to talk a little, nice person great player as well.
Mr Lewis plays on 1 of my favorite records, The Visitors "Motherland" Saw him 2 years ago & told him how much I loved Motherland He smiled and asked me to burn him a copy, which I did A true master

When this video was made I had known Barry for a few years, but I used to see Victor in the studios when he was working with my Dad going back many years. I eventually recorded an interview with him that I oughta share. Last time I spoke with Victor was at the Village Vanguard... probably longer ago than I think, but maybe ca. 2016.
