Hello all! I'll be starting another channel with lessons, free sheet music, recording tips and other fun things. Here is the link to subscribe in advance. First videos will be out by the end of the year. ua-cam.com/channels/l_B2yhO9ADc_iQIvwVQq0A.html
Looking forward to some tips, as a amateur guitarrist, I would love to see a video about your training process, from learning a piece until mastering it. Thank you
In my honest opinion, you are the best classical guitarist in the world today. I legitimately look up to you and am inspired by you and Mr. Kolk. Keep it up!
It’s an absolute gift that one of the best classical guitarists alive ALSO happens to be one of the best audio engineers AND videographers for the instrument. Your output is an absolute treasure to the classical community and without a doubt you are helping new people discover the beauty of the instrument. Thank you so much!
As I've listen your play from Rigondi ,I could imagine,as if I'm observing a rose ,which is slowly opening its leaves and sending its delikate scent through the air. Thank you for such a moment.
Bravo maestro Drew!!! ... That Allegro vivo 🤤, outanding. Greetings from Monterrey México 🇲🇽. By when are you planning to give us a concert in Monterrey?.
Algo del alma española está en su guitarra y en sus dedos. Es un gran placer escucharle, como siempre. Qué bueno, habrá mas videos próximamente ? Excelente noticia. Muchas gracias!
Your playing, for me, is up there with Barrueco and Williams. Would absolutely love to hear you play Rodrigo's Tres Piezas Españolas, also dedicated to the great Andrés Segovia.
Very beautiful... I always thoroughly enjoy your records. May I ask a question concerning your nails? Are you using acrylic nails? If so, are they permanently attached, or what do you use to attaching them? Thanks a lot and thank you for all the beautiful music that is coming through you into this troubled world!
Thank you! These are just fake nails that you can get at the drug store. I put them on with stickers I get from GuitarNailsKit website. They hold very well for me, but not everyone. I believe it depends on how well the fake nail fits onto your real one. For me, they fit very snugly and sound a lot better than my natural ones. I’ve trusted them to play the Aranjuez concerto which as you probably know has a lot of strumming and heavy rest stroke passages.
@@DrewHendersonGuitar Thank you so much for the info... I'm always having problems with my a-fingernail, but it's difficult to combine one artificial with the rest natural. Also I'm affraid the sticker ruin the basis of the natural nail more and more... Do you see any detrimental effects of having these nails? Do you keep the on or do you remove them daily? Thanks again.
Thanks Ramon! I worked on this on and off for a year and played it a couple of times in concert. That is what I generally do before making a recording to make sure it sounds comfortable when I hit record.
This piece is truly a masterpiece and it is so refreshing to listen to it in such able hands. Also the tone of this guitar seems quite appropriate for the repertoire. Was it traditionally built?
One of the nice things about these videos - apart from the amazing music, obviously - is the footage: close-ups of hand positions /etc. On that note, I was wondering: it looks like you use fake nails of some kind? If so, it would be amazing if you could do a video explaining which nails you use and why etc...
Great playing! Im curious about your nails though, looks like you are using some kind of plastic nails? I have kind of shitty nails so I’m always interested in alternatives. Maybe an idea for a video on the new channel?
You read my mind! I just use the fake nails from the pharmacy, but they fit very well onto my existing nails which I think is necessary if you plan on using them. From there I use the stickers from the Guitar Nails Kit. They hold for a month at least for me.
@@DrewHendersonGuitar Drew thank you for the EXCELLENT guitar playing and music. Thank you also for the information on artificial nails. I am currently working up to making a recording of original compositions and I have dreadful nails. My nails are so bad that I actually have to hold my right hand in a rather unusual position to get a good tone. It's working, but if I could use the nail "prosthetics" , I might be able to hold my hand in a more usual manner.
Turina's guitar music is interesting because of the quasi flamenco element I'd say, Ponce sort of did this with the Sonatina Meridional of course. But listening to Turina's piano music is enlightening too because he integrated things much better there, also in his chamber music. In any case Turina's guitar music may not quite be as good as Ponce's but it is fairly unique.
I always thought that you use natural nails for your performances, and now I see that you actually use artificial ones. I don't know about you, but I had bad experience with artificial nails and my tone wasn't as quite as good as it is with natural ones.

Ótima ideia. Já estou inscrito, e ansioso para os vídeos...
Great ! . You are always great. When you play it looks as if it were easy.
I am not a guitarist myself but I very much enjoy your performance. I look forward to your first video in your new channel.

Drew, you play so cleanly. No string attack, no left hand string noise. You make this look way too easy.
