My family served in both world wars. During the first we where german soldiers marching to defend and prove that our nation had a right to exist. During the second we where Americans ending a totalitarian government as well as a war that had destroyed most of Europe. In both wars we foght and bleed for the right reasons. The main reason. So others would never have to fight again.
In war there is never truly a hero and a villain. Good men die on both sides, fighting because they’re told they’re doing the right thing, that they’re the good guys. But in the end there’s nothing but blood, ash and rubble. That and the survivors, who are scarred forever.
My great grandad fought and died in the death and mud of the Passchendaele conflict in France during the First World War and my grandad served in burma during the Second World War when we were fighting the Japanese empire also I have few relatives on my other grandads side that were captured and brutally tortured by the Japanese and survived after their prison was liberated but my point is wars are a time of untold stories, death and courage and without the brave men like my grandad and your grandparents we wouldn’t be sitting here today the world would be so much different so I’m so grateful to all those serving today and those who didn’t make it home, my grandad survived burma but a part of him died there and I would never wish that for anyone ❤️
In memory of Prince Philip Mountbatten Windsor, Husband of Queen Elizabeth II, Father of Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Grandfather of Prince William and Prince Harry and Great Grandfather of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet 1921-2021
We may not count her armies, we may not see her king. Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering... And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.
