This is truly miniscule! It's like a really small TV box. But it's affordable with Windows 11 pro, which is nice. Worth look for basic non demanding work. Thank you for the comprehensive review Chris as always 👍👍👌
@@okutaviof That's a good alternative depending on the level of power efficiency you want and on the software you want to run, and storage speed. The Mini S is not the most power efficient but it has x86 architecture and sata3+m.2 slots.
I still think Linux is better, ChromeOS flex doesn't allow android apps and for some processors won't even allow Linux apps so you are stuck with PWAs. Some linux distros like MX Linux, Lubuntu and Xubuntu, EndeavourOS XFCE of LXQT should work on this fine and maybe even faster than ChromeOS Flex.
the price of this one dropped quite a lot, because they now have a slightly better version with the n5105 cpu, making this one in the video even more interesting, its below the threshold where i would have to pay import tax, 150 euro.
I tried upgrading the memory to Viper 16GB DDR4 2400MHz in my Beelink Mini S. After power up, the fan coming on was the only thing that happened; nothing on the monitor. I tried pulling out the memory and reinstalling it and the same thing happened. I reinstalled the original 8GB and it was fine. I tried the 16GB one more time and it was just like before. So, I gave up. I took the 16GB to a store where they did a basic memory test and it passed. Any suggestions on what I should do?
"Spindle One?" .... In 27 years of building and using computers, I've never heard that term! ... Why not just call it an HDD, or Hard Disk Drive? I recently bought the Mini S, and I've fitted a 2TB "Spindle One" 🤣 ... It's a great little machine for GBP £159 on Amazon, and I've seen it a bit cheaper too! ... I've heard some reliability horror stories, although mine is fine so far. You can not pick all you like, I think this is a great machine for the price! ... Incidentally, in 27 years of using computers, I've NEVER had 20 tabs open at once! That's just ridiculous! Why would you want that many open at once? It doesn't make sense? EDIT: Not tried 4K streaming, but find it odd that my 4K Hisense can stream 4K perfectly! Surely the Mini PC hardware is more powerful than that in my Smart TV? AFAIK, my Smart TV doesn't have a powerful Intel processor inside it?
I think in comparison to rpi4 this system wins, because: It is available, cheap, preboxed, has SSD, enough ram to run Linux/BSD and derivatives It could be used as a lab for open source operating systems expirements The quality is ok since beelink been makin' minipcs for quite some time
@@Techtablets As of now, there is nothing "exclusive" that can(not) be done on neither x86-64 or ARM systems. In other words -- if you want to work on a rpi 4, you will be able to do so just fine just like if you were on a x86-64 rig.
@@Techtablets Hi, Sad to hear you Intel Nuc died. i assume it is much much more expensive than this miniS. :( Seller (SzBOX Store) requested video, i uploaded to 3 platform, but he said not able to see them. Then I asked where should i upload? He never answered. Aliexpress not allow to open any complain. im very hopeless, and upset.
Single channel, oof. Also the only benefit of running a CPU that feels like it's 2010 again in 2022 would be if it's entirely passively cooled tbh, either as a multimedia or on-desk browsing machine. Looks like a really hard pass to me.

Yes nice tiny size and good for just basic computing needs. Thanks for watching!
Great professional review as ALWAYS !!
Thanks for watching!
Price (as of 31 August 2022) is now down to ~US$152 for 8GB/128GB on Amazon US. Just chuck in a cheap used 2.5" SSD for extra storage.
That's a great price for the spec!
Thank you very much for all these mini PC reviews. I love them. I hope you do the review of the Minisforum UM560 in the future.
Hi, yea I should be getting on of those to review.
Couldn't help but notice the gt3 pro on ur wrist 😁
Good spotting! Yes a great watch the GT 3 Pro.
I have this for a month I did have
The same stutter from videos, I fixed it but replacing my memory to 16 gb and now it’s so much smoother.
That’s good you found a fix
Good review. I'm running a little linux server on a 2011 laptop with 4gb ddr3. This will be a 'big' upgrade both in performance and physical space.
i'm consindering an orange pi 5

Good review Chris, thanx

Instead of Linux, you can also test ChromeOS Flex. I think it would be more suitable for specs like this

Can you do a review of the Dell XPS 13 or Razer Book?
Can you play mame games in this little stuff
It does say it has a second slot, i think it might be next to the cpu
How to go in the bios
Normally Del key on boot or Esc. Mash both on booting and it will go into the bios.
Hi,do you know how to get in the bios using a Mac BT keyboard ?
Is this good for coding/web dev?

Could anyone enlighten me if CS 1.6 is smooth on this machine?
Im from uk what adapter do i need to buy and will it be able to run minecraft
Is it powerful enough to do Plex 4k transcoding?
hello I have a mini pc amd ryzen 7 2700u and I would like to put an igpu but everything inside a case. which case do you think would be cool?.
I live in a city where the voltage is 220, is this product dual voltage?
The power supply I had was dual switch voltage so you would be fine.
já tentou colocar dois pentes de 16gb ram pra ver se reconhece :?
Would this machine be sufficient for keeping records on notepad?
100% it will be perfect for that.
Running Linux wouldn't be better for 4k video?
Does it support automatic power on when dc power is active?
You can set that in the bios
Can you please explain how can I disable UEFI in Bios or how can I boot from USB? 🙏
a same price version with 16G memory but without windows would be a nice low power home server
what do you have to say about durability?
Seems good
It seems like all these type of units with a single channel ram are not good enough but those with two channel with even 2x4 gb are much better.
Yea much better it’s a shame it doesn’t have the two Sodimm slots

Hey chris, Poco f4 review anytime soon ?
Unfortunately not Xiaomi won’t send one out.
Nice and well-detailed review. But if I had to choose this and the rpi 4...? I'd stick with the pi.

which is better this one or u59 ?
U59
only difference is U59 has a USB-C port, if you care about that
What type of memory it uses?
Use vlc
Yes it would run the HEVC videos better without the initial stuttering.
would you be able to play fortnite with this?
No but this one yes with lower settings: ua-cam.com/video/ZHXm51u4N8c/v-deo.html
Other youtuber also complaining that this device died in 2 months. I was not so lucky mine MiniS died in 1 month. :(
Really? Did you get a replacement sorted out? Mines still running fine, but my Intel NUC extreme i9 just died on me...
