  • The skaters of the Philippines are insanely talented ( PART 2 )
This trip brought me back to Cebu at the Infamous diy plaza Pahara Bridge.
Only one session and my mind was blown once again. The skater here deserves more recognition that’s a fact.

Their good because they actually value their boards. Those things are expensive as fuck and most people here can't afford them. So, when a Filipino kid gets a board they actually learn how to skate instead what happens in richer countries where the kid tries a couple of times and then gives up. I've lived here on and off for years, between here and Japan, and I got nothing but the utmost respect for the graffiti artists and skaters here. They really got that work ethic you can only get from having to overcome limitations your whole life. It's more fun in the Philippines!

There is a rise of skateparks in the Philippines, but admittedly not enough :) Filipinos are really good skaters but most lack the resources to do proper skating. They learn on the streets and for some reason it seems like they're never hurt during a bail, except if they have an actual broken bone lol. Random street kids will watch and learn, try to borrow a board, and next thing you know they're riding full speed and doing ollies. A lot of initiatives are being done for free skate clinics and free equipment and it's really good, but once skating is considered a full blown sport here and it's given enough attention I think Filipinos will be unstoppable. Great video man, keep it up and stay safe on your travels!

@@Theskatenomad Yo does the Philippines have a team to skate in the Olympics? If not, man that would be amazing to build up to. Imagine how much pride and representation these kids would bring to their country.

The Philippines probably can't afford to send the kids to the Olympics.
That's the top and bottom of the matter .
They would do extremely well though @@Devillionaire

Mike are you a professional skateboarder?
      Who are your sponsors?
You should do a video introducing yourself
      May Allah bless you

There are skate parks here in the Philippines. But they are only a few in between so they are inaccessible to a majority of the people. Heck the only one I know of and been to is the one in Tagaytay. There are more for sure but like I said there are so few.
