I searched for Svea in UA-cam. I watched 3 other CC's with unicom stats. I am a 48% potato. Been playing since Closed Beta. I did enjoy your video. +1 for upfront admitting your not a light cruiser player. I too like to add range to cruisers, so seeing you play a range mod was interesting. I did feel you were a little to reserved. You had range and didn't start shooting until 12:42 mark. Thanks for showing us how an average player would actually enjoy the Svea in randoms. Soooo…you’re playing a close-range ambush ship and you build it for farming at range? Everything this ship has, the short smokes, quick cycling radars, and good conceal all point to an ambush playstyle at close range. If you’ve ever played Radar Mino, all of the downsides that you say here about the Svea is much more pronounced there. At least this thing can tank cruiser shells and go dark with the smokes, Mino doesn’t have that. Lastly, in your test, you were aiming wayyyy to high for AP to do proper damage. For 152s like Ragnar guns, you want to aim at upper hull or just center mass, most of your AP shots were overpens, and thus can’t do nearly as much as the HE. Also it has DD accuracy, same as Zao.
Appreciate your feedback and that you watched and commented at all. The point of the gun test was to try and show all the consequences of aiming with both ammo types - so the aim was moved all around, and the test was conducted flat broadside and angled. Was it scientific and perfect? Nope. Far from it. But they don't give us these ships far enough in advance to create the perfect video. At least not for me with my real life demands. As far as gameplay, the build is not a distance farmer. I think the only change was to one module for slightly more range. It was still full conceal, not a lighthouse build. I have played radar and smoke Mino. But I'm not a light cruiser specialist by any means. Mino seems to take damage differently... can't put my finger on it but like another comment, this seemed to arm shells where they go right through Mino. No proof, but that was my sense. I may be proven wrong on this ship and that's okay with me. But in the time I had, these were the impressions I took away.
@@aerospacenewsgamingmino has 16mm armor, wheras Svea will arm shells with her 25 and 30 mm plating. However, she is a tiny little bastard of a boat to hit, and does quite well against battleships that aren’t british or italian up close and personal. Her biggest strengths are her conceal, consumables, and her excellent angles. Veryily enjoyed the video, def don’t play it the same as I do.

I'm a DD main for the most part (also play a ton of battleships) so this is not my sweet spot. But there will be others like me out there and they can at least hear things from my biased point of view and come to their own conclusions.

For the look, it's compared to Ragnar. For weapons and gimmicks, i compare it to Brisbane. Brisbane has more guns, more torps, radar and hydro - and is for coal. Svea is for steel. And does not look worth it.
I agree with you, especially about Brisbane. Many of my talented friends who play cruisers don't feel the same way. I think we will know more in a few months when there are many out there being played. I really did not like the way it was so clumsy - hard to be up close and surprising if when you get spotted you are easy to hit.
That's a tough spot to be in - a light cruiser after all your dds are sunk and all the caps are red. You have to try to make a play on a cap or nobody will and it's a loss. Then when you got smashed as you were chasing the red dd another decision had to be made. You don't want to smoke because you're spotting the dd and it's more important with your team losing to get the kill then smoke after and hope it works out. Sometimes it doesn't. But I'd do the same thing you did with the team down bad. It's about winning and sometimes you have to make plays to get there.
I wasn't really planning on getting the SVEA, but it is an intresting ship. I know its hard to get a ship at teir 10 for every country, but i wish more real, historical ships were able to make it into the game, even if they were lower teirs more frequently.

Very grateful you took the time to watch and share your opinion on the new T10 Svea cruiser (and this review). As expensive as it is it really does not feel worth it to me. I know others like it very much. But I don't think it is a good steel purchase.

Great Video and great rundown on the ship. I predict a lot of dev strikes on this ship in the near future. On cruisers like this I think they need the smolensk treatment where less armor is better armor, to me it looks like it has just enough armor to arm everything. I also like your analogy of it being just a conglomerate of Ragnar Gdansk and Halland. But I don't think they implemented this as well as they could of. I wonder if this will end up getting a buff like Hector just did, something along the lines of a super heal or crawling smoke vs short burst smoke.
That's an excellent question that I do not have the answer to, I'm sorry to say. I can tell you this, typically when the coupon can not be used, Wargaming will tell us when they tell us the price. They only told us the price this time, so that suggests the coupon is available, but I don't know that for certain.

Seems like Ragnar or Plymouth would be the first choice, based on ship statistics. Ragnar has a smaller profile, better concealment, no citadel, much more accurate guns. Plymouth brings the smoke-radar-hydro combo with CL guns and a heal. I think Svea may be smaller than a Plymouth, but it does raise question what Svea brings to the table that would make someone waive both Ragnar and Plymouth. I'm guessing she's mainly a counter to DDs and smoke farming CLs?

Rename her IKEA and that she shoots meatballs! I honestly dont think you used your smoke enough in the game play that you showed, but we all play differently.

On oversized destroyer as a light cruiser with few redeeming features.
