I played a lot of spin tires and that's where I got the know the Ural and Kraz 6x6. Funny enough the lighter Ural with the big Kraz wheels worked better for a pro like me rather than the mighty MAZ 8x8 every beginner liked to use. But true MAZ 537 is like my favorite 8x8 truck so when Cross-RC came out with BC-8 I had to own it. Could not care it was the most expensive rig yet -pre order in the US, ship to the Netherlands. I build the chassis and assembly was a fun week in august 2018. One year later the low-boy trailer came and I spend a long time painting, I dislike painting and not finished it yet. It's mostly just a unfinished static piece, parked with a Traction Hobby Tank 300 and King Kong RC Lurker on the trailer. I've loosely thrown in the receiver, ESC and battery to drive it around. And what a great pack mule it is! It's a tight fit backing it into the elevator but the stuff I can put on the trailer to not walk back and forth to the car. I need to build Trail-EZE sliding axle flat trailer with better ground clearance. Since I hate cleaning and never in the mood for maintenance so I'm avoiding water and mud to keep my bearings alive. Never ever want to sell this Mammoth, absolute dream rig!
Great video explanation Terry. You shouldn't feel guilty or ashamed having had, or selling the Mammoth. It is a beast of a rig. It is a great wholesome hobby. The Mammoth not only brought you joy it also brought many of us joy watching the videos. I completely understand the issue of money. I have wrestled with that wily foe for the last 4 years especially. Since I got sick and had to go on disability, many of life extras had to be trimmed or removed. It has made me and my family more fiscally responsible. I guess what I mean is we make sure we get the most for what we spend. I think you did get the most of Mammoth. Thru building, driving, filming, and sharing the journey of that incredible rig you HAD and GAVE an amazing experience to many of us that may not ever be able to undertake such an epic adventure. Thank you for that. Thank you (and Andrew) for your hard work and for sharing it with us . I think you made a great decision. I know great things come for difficult decisions. Stay safe and stay tiny. Steve.
Nice one Steve. Thanks for the kind words. It's very much a case that I reached a peak moment in Wales with the truck, and felt that I had done with it what I had set out to do. Not sure if you have seen the other comments but Peter who now has the truck has commented on here which is great. Money wise its always a tricky thing, as I have got older I have mellowed about debts a bit but it does still make me twitch. Family is top of the list and selling it had eased the guilt. Plus it means Andrews MC8 is top dog again lo. Look after yourself. Stay safe Terry.
I have only built a Mammoth and they are a lot of work. But for me if a truck is pushed though water or mud it will have a full strip down. That's part of the hobby for me, I like that and why I lose less bearings.
Yeah, your right, they need regular maintenance if you use them hard. It's the running bit that I prefer the most. Maintenance is definitely my least favorite part about the hobby.
I totally get what you have said and i have been guilty of similar mindset, but when you buy and build a top class model, if then you decide to sell it you always lose money, i have done this lots and wasted a pile of cash i recently got a cross NT4 Unimog and soon after getting it started to feel maybe its not for me, but i wont sell it and lose a chunk of cash, keeping it as my flagship truck, when you had the mammoth i think i would of kept it and looked for better dryer places to run it
Fully waterproof it (electronics), marine grease on the eternal running bearings and components and hose it off after a run. Same as I do with all my rigs. I love mud so my trucks get drowned in it. Just needs a jolly good blast with the hose down the chassis rails………..
It always had lots of grease in it and got a good hose down. However, despite this it still really needed a strip down after a few good mucky runs to keep on top of it. I was a bit anal with it due to the cost 👍
Sorry to hear that. You were an inspiration in me buying one. I watched all your build videos and made my build go by quicker, at least in my opinion. I just painted my components and look forward to fully assembling it and get some run time on it!

I think you made the right choice for you especially if you got a sexbox that you use and other projects on the go and as long as I have one you are always more than welcome to run a pack through it for old times sake m8. Hi, I am happy to report that your Mammoth is doing well down here in cold, wet Hampshire. It joined my fleet of other 1/6, 1/10 rc rigs, has had a couple of minor cosmetic changes since arriving but remains the fantastic blue which caught my eye in the first place.
