As for the Scotland/fruits it's because Scotland is famous for deep frying everything, so Frankie Boyle makes jokes about their unhealthy diet because of the stereotype (Scotland was the first country to commercially deep fry a mars bar according to the newspapers).

I half agree, I do think Australian comedy in general doesn't have as many true geniuses as British comedy does, but we do have some good comedians. What do you think of Shaun Micallef and Working Dog, aka the people behind Frontline, The Castle and The Hollowmen?
