Thank you so much for this video. It has great tips. I'll be making my wedding dress this month and I bought crepe back satin stretch in cobalt blue and this video will be great help to help me make it look it's best.
Thank you for this video it helped a lot. I'm currently working on a project that requires me to work with satin and I didn't know what to expect because I'm so use to sewing with knit fabric.
Awesome, your explanation is very precise..love it, thank goodness I haven't lost too much touch,.and thank you for you !

+Divine Grace I'm so glad you enjoyed our tutorial :)
Thank you for these tips!
Thank you for mentioning the iron-impression trick. I've been pulling my hair out what this strange line running through my fabric was. Will give this ago
for this, I just use some muslin I had laying around, but I normally use an old pillowcase.
This video will be really useful for me since I am planning on my very first satiny sewing work. Thanks for uploading :)
When you’re doing a bling hem....you only need to pick up one or two of the main body strands...the amount you picked up...I’m sure would be seen greatly on the finished side....
I am stunned by this one
Great video, thank you very much for sharing . You rock
Very nice video... instead of the tissue paper I use old news paper ...it work also
what do you use for a pressing cloth?
Thank you. You explained really well.
Hi i have a dress made of statin and it seems to have some rips or small holes do you know how i could fix them?
I'm beginner sewer visual learner and I'm dieing to sew a jean skirt and a jean jumper and or dress. I have bought the material months ago but waiting to see a good video on how to go about it.
@04:33 the bobbin thread is either a different color than the topstitching thread or your tension is really off?
this is great.
Merci beaucoup pour votre explication bisous
Thanx a lot , u solved my problem
Thank you ❤
You didn't turn the fabric over near the end to show if the hemming was showing on the other side. I would think it would because that material is very thin.
Very good trick
nice video!
I am making a satin pillow case would I be able to serge the edges?
sure! :)
okay so I want to make a tank top but I am not sure how to get the right size with this type of fabric. how should the measurements be or how should I measure myself to get the right fit? please help
I am working with taffeta
We have a tutorial on taking your body measurements here: ua-cam.com/video/T5fktYo_h3A/v-deo.html For a tank top, you should use your bust measurement for deciding your size.
This was a great video ty, but maybe next time u can show us what the blind stitch looks like in the right side I think that would help as well ty
I'm a week away from a comic convention and my cosplay skirt is currently a pattern and pile of fabric. Only ever used cotton before .
I'm wanting to make a satin patch but I dont really know how to do this with 2 different overlaying satin colors. My background is white and the actual satin artwork is gold but I dont know how to make the patch look the way I want it. Does anyone know how to help?
Sorry, I don't know either. Typically, patches are made with fusible webbing which is applied with a hot iron and satin can't take a hot iron. :(
I used purple silk tafetta for my cat cloak cosplay
And used purple satin lining for the inside cloak
I sewed it from lining side it turns out lovely
Fton the pattern i pin it to fabric
Hi, If I want to make a skirt with Satin fabric. usually satin fabric is very thin, what kind of the material that i can sew together with the satin fabric so it will feel thicker?
I would say that the more expensive the satin is, the thicker it comes and you probably wouldn't need to add anything, but you could probably just add a lining to stabilize it more. At the fabric store you should be able to find a section of "apparel lining". Just realize that while it'll add some thickness, you won't be able to take really flimsy fabric and make it a great deal stiffer. You'll have to choose a different fabric that already has that characteristic.
I've been taking classes at Joann's on this and they said that although you can line with just about anything, for a thicker but still "flexible" (it won't stick out from the body) they suggest a cotton or knit lining because the satin will be what is seen but YOU get to feel like you are wearing your favorite tee shirt! I thought this is great. Since I like retro style stiff garments I usually line with a polyester twill (think suit shirt) because its a bit stiffer. If it's a winter garment you can really go the extra mile with fleece or felt but that may require using a thicker needle.Hope this helps?
I'm making a double wedding ring quilt out of bridal satin. The satin I received had wrinkles and deep creases making it mostly unusable. I put my iron on one setting above low and using a pressing sheet over the satin was able to remove even deep creases, making all of my satin usable.
oh good! Satin can be pretty finicky so I'm so glad you were able to get it to work for you :)
What makes it bridal satin?
can you tell me the fabrics they use to make a moncler coat or any shiny down jacket?
I'm thinking it's nylon. You might have to order that kind of fabric online. I don't really see it at a regular fabric store.
thanks
I didn't catch the type of needle you suggested... could you tell me again ?
universal, sharp or microtex needle should be fine. I would start with a size 80
good video. i wish you would hand down the finish product after the hem. 🙁
nice! you can do it! :)
it's a different color :)
Do you have a video on how to use Shantung fabric? Stretchy denim (want to use both of these for a maxi skirt)? Also is there fabric that is recommended for beginners?
La-Kia Kommeren we don't but I'll definitely add it to my list. When you're first starting out, I recommend working with cottons and cotton blends. They don't slip around and have problem child issues. Also, if you make a mistake they're fairly forgiveable. They're not the most exciting but there's a lot of cute prints out there.
Thanks for the feedback.
I feel like there's just too much tension on the foot and it'd be great if you could take a little bit of that off because when I lift up with the handle while I'm sewing I feel like that helps so with satin where it doesn't come out uneven because the bottom is pulling faster than the top so it just feels like there's probably just too much tension and there aren't really any adjustable options on sewing machines with a standard foot fur stitching with satin so you basically I have to hold it up manually
Hei, instead of tissue paper, Is it ok to use a walking-foot?
You can try. It doesn't work as well for me because sometimes the fabric is so slippery that whenever the walking foot goes up, the fabric slips and, therefore, my seams are not was straight.
Paper...good idea
beautiful ♡
Do you need to prewash satin?
2.0 stitch width
There's no video on the taffeta
satin and taffeta should be treated the same. the tips in this video can apply to both.
You didnt talk about the taffeta😵
the same rules apply to both satin and taffeta
"How to sew with satin and taffeta". Consider the *and*. It means both fabrics already. The "and" here should also tell you that these two fabrics could possibly behave similarly. 🤗
I wish I could hear this video. I've got to volume turned to max on my computer and on You Tube, and I can't hear a thing. Oh well, on to another video, I guess. :)
