As a kid, having movie nights where before home internet, it was like our own theatre type experience. As I got older I used to simulate in my head being like a tv network and getting to pick what movie or episodes to play in that given moment. As strange as it sounds, my big interest at a younger age for discs was no matter what service outage or whatever happens on a streamer, I can play some content. I’ve essentially built up with physical and digital media that I could lay off the internet for content. Music wise I bought some digital albums off Bandcamp that are ZIP files backed up to drives since getting albums shipped to Canada has crazy shipping costs from what I’m getting 😂😓. Appreciate you! Thanks for giving me the space to ramble ❤️
Physical media will always remain important. They signify a lot of our childhood memories, that nostalgia of holding something in our hands, will always hold more personal value, importance. People forget the PS5 Pro will be able to hold a disc drive, like the digital ps4, hence why scalpers are buying disc drives up like crazy atm.
Good Will Hunting made $225 mill at the box office on a $10 mill budget, it definitely made its money back. I know the clip you are talking about with Damon saying that DVD sales could make more than it did in the theaters thus still giving us mid-budget movies in the theaters. Big fan of the channel! Just wanted to drop a clarification!
I think that in the future they will match the downloaded media quality to the physical one and they will still supply physical but not as a disc but as a box with some artwork and a code were you can download the movie because is going to be interconnected. You will either buy it digitally for a lower price initially but if you buy the physical with the code it will be slightly higher because of the artwork. Each production company will have there own streaming platform that way they don't get to remove their content due to licensing problems but they will still have subscription services because that's how they will be able to make there royalties and the money they make will go straight to there company which is a good thing. I know it has already being done partially but that's where I see it stagnating.
Hello Jamie 💜 I got a question if u had 15 war movies 5 on dvd 5 on BLURAY 5 on 4K would u put them all together on the shelve or would u out Them separately as there different formats ? Just curious 🥰
@@JamieToomeyPresents oh u got me all wrong with my question Jamie 🤣 I didn’t ask for u to do a favourite I was asking if u had 15 war movies with each format would u put them all together as one war movie collection or would you category them for each format shelve u understand me now ? 😍🥰
@@graciemckenna8283 ah ok got you, I would arrange into format, so dvd, Blu-Ray and 4K seperate then from there seperate into genres and then alphabetical
Not only physical media is good for preservation, but also you get other bonus materials or paper that we cannot get from streaming services, such as special features, small booklet about the film that was narrated by the director etc. those stuff feels like you got more than you originally brought.
I was streaming toy story hadn't had my couch close to the tv lately because I was playing rythem games. I put it back in theater mode lol. Meaning equal distance or closer and the compression is so bad. I was seeing artifacts with things would move. I got reminded again why I physical media is superior. You shouldn't be paying more for 4k. 4k needs to be a standard and not a premium. Even cheap Walmart tv's are 4k so why am I seeing hd with dolby atmos or 4k and no surround sound still.
For me, the quality is better and I torrent nearly everything so the price is significantly lower. If I REALLY have to watch something while I'm traveling, I can usually always rent it or stream it from somewhere. But it's not real ownership with digital. Those companies made the terms entirely favorable to them and you and I both know it's only a matter of time before the rug gets pulled out and you have no recourse.
I have been collecting digital movies for 10 years, I have 3000 and I have not lost a single one of them, maybe some are changed versions I do not know because it doesn't bother me, the way Star Wars fans lose their shit because things were added is just funny to me, it is still the same movie FFS, I am also never hanging on every little detail of a movie when I watch, but I get the physical media fascination, to me it is no different from people collecting figurines or stamps.
It’s not that the Star Wars movies were changed that upsets me, it’s that George Lucas didn’t make the original theatrical versions available after the 2006 DVD release, and even those 2006 theatrical DVDs have a poor audio video quality.
I own 1200 digital movies and have never lost one of them yet having 1600 Blu-ray’s and dvds knowing its original and untouched , like the covers on digital, why do they change them , drives me nuts, sometimes they upgrade my movie and don’t tell me and then I’m seeing a completely different version. I don’t appreciate that.
If weren't for physical games I wouldn't be able to sell them. You give a good deal to someone and go out and buy another game. Now I just won't buy the game on time since I hit hard times recently. Oh I've explained supporting things but gen z but younger kids think movies theaters alone will save movie theaters and good movies. We movie goers and physical buyers are keeping quality alive.
You can’t get away from companies knowing what you are doing! Your cell phone is always listening, if you’re watching a movie on your console they know about it. I don’t know how many times my Alexa has tried to join a conversation me and my wife are having. There is no anonymity anymore!
Not true at all they are looking at the media you are playing. My Roku TV literally reads the Metadata from the hdmi port connected to my zidoo and always says hey watch this movie on this streaming service it's creepy. Apple definitely knows what rips your playing on your ios device.
I choose the physical medium so that I am above all independent despite the digital age because you are somehow always online and if I decide to watch something in streaming then I also want to watch what I want but now with the advertising interruption it falls It's even harder for me to get interested in streaming because it always takes me away from the film, which is why I haven't watched normal television for decades. It's kind of funny when you think about how the hype about streaming services started. They advertised that you could watch so much without advertising and all for a small fee a month, but that changed quickly over time because streaming has now become the new television with advertising and censorship 😒 I used to love playing video games as a child and teenager, even in my early 20s, games were just as important to me as films, but then this nonsense with DLC came along and that you have to pay to play the full game, that took the joy out of the whole thing for me. I was never a big gamer because I played for fun and enjoyment, but today's developments have completely put me out of the gaming scene.
You are very wise beyond your years young man. Excellent video. I can relate to so many of your talking points.

Keep up the good work kid, you'll go far.

It may be old fashioned but its never out of date

Hard to pick 5 for each format, but I will do a war/western movies video at some point

I can't claim it won't stop actually spying on you but if you are tired of those pop ups showing what you are watching you can turn them off.
You won't be getting the anniversary edition of the PS5 then! Epic fail from Sony!
