Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has been with me for almost 7 days now and here is my ongoing review. The more I spend time with it, the more I learn about it. AI is great, battery is great, but there is also a serious problem with AI that needs resolution.

Is the screen colors / brightness worst than the S23 AND S22 ULTRA ?? there is lots of reviews about it looking more dull even at QHD resolution 😢 apparently due to the anti reflective screen .

I'm surprised Samsung didn't make more of a deal about the anti-glare display. It's an awesome improvement 💯

I know a lot of people don't want to hear this but they had problems with the s24 ultra they had a green line running down the screen and a white line across when they boot the phone up and the guy calls up Samsung and Samsung says no you got to talk to the dealer and when he went to the dealership the dealership is looking Verizon is looking at him like what did you do to break the phone he couldn't even take it back the person said they had to buy a new one and then trade the old one in what a rip off so I'm sticking with the s23 ultra I know you may not want to hear it but I hope everything works out for you and I hope you got it from Samsung and not a dealership you get it unlocked their phones are the best and believe it or not they are different because I brought a Samsung Galaxy A52 5G from Samsung unlocked I was going to get it from Metro by T-Mobile and I'm glad I didn't because their screen was an LCD screen what a rip off but I really sincerely hope you have a good phone and they don't try to rip you off have a good day

I've been using the Note20 Ultra since it came out. I ordered this phone and should be getting it soon, so I'm pretty stoked. Even this Note20 is still really good, though.

@@sebertspestsolutions I had to get a note10 to get VoLTE, then got a 21ultra for 5g, then a 23ultra to get the s-pen back. This 24 is tempting with all the discounts, but I'll probably wait for a 25 or 26, depending on features.

Do you have also pixel issues in the samsung weather app? Especially when it shows the weather in the night and you look closely while scrolling the display shows kind of squares. Do you have the same thing? I think it's a software problem. Thank you very much. Greetings Mark

What will happen to the glare reduction when you put on a screen protector? I'd imagine that benefit goes out the window. I could be wrong tho.

It's a beast but apparently the screen is worse than that of the s22 ultra, that's concerning
Display is poor my friend as compared to previous versions.
Upgraded from the S21 Ultra and am really excited to finally have an S Pen and to see what they do with the new AI features. Also integrating the camera features and quality into Instagram and Snapchat is huge too. Still loved the S21 Ultra and it was still a GREAT phone. Probably the longest I have waited to upgrade phones and that is saying something for the quality of Samsung products
Why didn't you have an s pen on your s21 ultra.
I'e got the S24 ultra but i'm thinking about returning it as when side by side the S21 ultra' colours there deeper more saturated when watching UA-cam 4k hdr footage the S21 ultra' s screen is more dynamic brighter images

Hey Saki is the display that washed out looking compared to the s23u? Have you tried to put a tempered glass screen protector on it to see if it negates the anti reflective properties and makes it look vibrant again. That would be great if you can test this out. Also the new one plus device is over 4000 nits. I still prefer Sammy though.
The protector actually negates the anti reflection but color still stays a bummer...op12 is a fantastic beast in almost all category yeah but is a Sucker in camera

I would love to see a navigation test. Something like: the Samsung S24 will drain battery at 2% / minute while navigating GPS over 5G. I made those figures up because literally no-one on UA-cam is testing the navigation even though it's an extremely common use case and is notorious for draining battery.

is it coated, or is it baked into the screen. As for the AI, it's free until the end of 2025, not until 2025. And don't forget 7 yrs of updates

Hi Saki, What do you think about the issue out there about S24 Ultra's screen being less Vibrant dan Washed out compared to previous S23U, S22U, S21U.. ?
maybe because of the new screen that less reflective..
the s24 ultra screen is darker because of the anti-reflective glass, this why samsung had to increase the brightness to 2600nits(peak)
My advice for you if you have it try a glossy film screen protector. On the other hand if you wanna get it but have doubts go see it. One of the reasons apart from the price was my getting the S23 U...I like slightly curved, vibrant displays and knowing me I wont keep it for 7 years lol
I am reading lots of reviews about the colors and screen on s24 ultra looking washed off/ dull compared to older models... apparently it is DUE to the anti reflective screen .. why would we want that? If it looks worst?? ... and ofcourse NO youtuber talking about this !
@johnjohn6808 No, this includes with the small and plus model. Not that they have reflective glass but the panel is washed out too.

There is no difference between "vivid" and "natural".
Iam NOT happy about that and as I got my device 2 days ago ,directly ordered from Samsung , I am really planning to send it back if there is no update fixing this problem the next week .

I received my S24 Ultra yesterday and absolutely love it! I had Exynos version of S22 Ultra until now and while I never had any issues with it this is another level.

Got my s24 ultra today, my first Samsung phone in a long time. I'm liking it so far but I wish Samsung included an option to switch to a vertical app drawer. I'm also not a fan of the haptic motor that Samsung has used in this device.

Does someone have any issue with front face camera? Is it really dark at default? It seems too contrasty and dark when using during video calls. 😢
All of these ai changes could 100% be a software update.
With the exception of the computer power required....
Picked my s24U a few days ago and I am blown away at how good this thing is.
I ordered my s24 ultra from samsung store online put I don see the date of delivery
How does your s24 ultra say 12h10min left with 28% battery and mine at 100% says 14h31m and I'm at 28% right now and mine says 4h4min.... same percentage but your says can last 8 hours longer. And btw I have 5h25min of usage and 28% left
I've just upgraded from the S22 Ultra and its a huge upgrade. The one thing thats annoying me though is the navigation bar, on my S22 I had swipe gestures but they were just the buttons "app drawer, home and back" but invisible and you would swipe up from where the buttons would be. Now the gestures have completely changed, they're not the same and the menu doesn't even tell you what the new gestures are. (I still can't find any answers online). I've had to go back to using buttons, but using Navstrar in Goodlock to make the button bar as small as possible and enable the hide button for when it looks horrible at the bottom in full screen apps. Super frustrating and is making the experience of using the phone feel super slow and clunky.
It should be:
- swipe up from for app drawer from the homescreen
-sswioe up when in an app to go home
- swipe up from home and hold to multitask view.
- swipe from left or side side of screen for back.
-sswioe diagonally from corner for assistant
You can also search gestures in settings. Excuse my typos

Yes, it's literally a difference between day and night. My s24 Ultra lacks a lot of saturation and I hope that they will fix that with the next software update

I am having faded display.. low light camera issues.. I am in contact with Samsung service center and customer supports for hours.. still no resolution .. They are not saying a software upgrade is coming.. looks like 10 yrs old display and camera. Disappointed

They are a good case have dropped the phone a few times have not cracked screens ever and they are a nice looking case. I got the Monarch Pro the one with the magnets all most $100 can't take it with you.
They are excellent cases. Very protective not too bulky and cool looking
Lost my note9 at venice beach a few weeks ago. Great phone. Asurian didn't have my phone. So they gave me s23+ which I'm trading in for the s24ultra. All in all $8 a month now for 3 years. Can't kive without my s-pen. Thanks for the $150 was able to get ear buds, case, battery pack.
I am wondering why they configured colour reproduction of the display to be so washed out. Compared to my S22 Ultra it is a difference between day and night. Setting the screen mode to "Vivid" unfortunately doesn't do much.
The colours lack from saturation a lot and hopefully they will fix that with the next software update.
Everything else is top notch and I can't complain about anything else.
S24 ultra display is very washed out.. Less vibrant... Less saturated.. Less contrast compared to s23 ultra. Even the brightness at full (without going into sunlight) is very dull.
The display is a huge downgrade. Eveything just looks very dull and washed out. It doesn't pop... There is no punch to the colours
Vivid and natural screen mode look identical.
Samsung mentioned the used a dynamic amoled display like they do in their other flagship devices.. . But this looks like a very muted.. Toned down LED display. IT just looks flat and boring. Can't believe what they have done.
It's the new anti glare glass that's why.

It’s not a problem. After many owners complained about the over saturated photos and screen they listened and made adjustments. You may claim that it looks good, but scenes in any format should be reproduced as they really appear. Maybe they should allow you to adjust from the baseline? Unfortunately the over saturation was really negatively affecting picture and video.
does anyone recommend getting cover for the back cameras
I never had any issues with a scratched or cracked camera lens. I do prefer cases with individual lens cutouts vs the entire camera area being open.
Sent mine back. Disappointed in the cameras. I decided to keep my ZFold5 after comparing photos side by side and the ZFold5 consistently produced better photos. Not sure if it's the post processing but I made sure all the settings were the same and the quality wasn't even close.
I have note 10 plus can't wait to get my s 24 ultra should be a few more days :)

I hate the way s24 has lost the swipe up geatures I used on my Note 20. The buttons that you now need to have visible; take up a huge tranche of screen real escape.

I've got an s24 ultra, although I love it I'm still loving my s23 ultra, I'm lucky I can upgrade for £400 but I'm not sure it's worth it. I've a big decision to make in the very near future.
I have been using S24 Ultra for three days now and only one issue experienced so far; fingerprint detection. Though the option "touch sensitivity" is "on" it is a pain to complete the process for registering fingerprints (I applied screen protector immediately before starting to use the phone. It is from the brand Invisible Shield). I succeeded registering finally by pressing too hard on the screen, but, unlocking via fingerprint is another pain now, a real challenge). Hope this is something that I am not alone with it and is a software issue which can be sorted out in upcoming firmware update. Anyone else having the same issue? Or, should I remove screen protector to get use of it?
Maybe because you applied screen protector from other brand that is not the one with anti-reflective from Samsung. That's just my opinion because everyone also wondering about other screen protectors that might be affect the phone display.
@@KateJake-Tsy exactly, it is from another brand, namely Invisible Shield, a tempered glass type of screen protector (I bought it together with the phone from my mobile operator, included in the same order). It is stated both "ultimate scratch protection" and "compatible with in-screen fingerprint scanner" on its box. S-pen functionality is not impacted at all, it works flawlessly everywhere, everything works just fine except for the fingerprint detection. I want to be sure it is due to screen protector before changing it because such a quality product comes with its price as well :)
I have the s22 ultra. I stopped putting on screen protectors because they just keep cracking because of the curved display and the finger print sensor gets finicky. So I'm assuming they didn't do any improvements to the finger print scanner. Besides processing faster due to the chipset.

Display colors are so bad! If i change to vivid nothing changes. And everyone is saying that is amazing best so far. It's not true, s23 ultra colors was better 1000 times!

I'm not sure what units reviewers are getting but forums everywhere are filled with complaints of the S24 Ultra being dull and washed out compared to their S23 Ultra's even after they adjust the settings. I'm waiting for my S24 Ultra to ship and hoping there is not a faulty batch. Coming from a Note 20 Ultra I'm not sure what to expect in comparison.
Yes i compared it to my s21 ultra and the S21 ultra is way more vibrant. I really hope they can fix it with an update.
I was waiting to hear this, because from my past experience of matt screens on any type of device, tend to be slightly dull compared to glossy screens. This means turning up the brightness which may result in a higher power consumption, and possible burn in! I own the S23 Ultra, S20FE 5G, and other Galaxy S phones, and lower the brightness and still see the screen in most conditions. This also meant that none of my phones have suffered screen burn in!
I have an S23U and compared it side by side. I thought it was cause it's the demo unit when I saw it at the store. So there really is an issue.
This has definitely got me worried too. Especially since mine is a long way from arriving (3-10 days after Feb. 19), it feels like an eternity and seeing reports like this doesn't help. I'm kinda starting to regret pre-ordering. Hoping we get a better display!
Update. I've just spotted discussion of people saying this dull display might be caused by Samsung's Smart Switch app messing with the screen settings and effectively locking them into a dull mode.
This would make sense in that none of the reviewers would have experienced the issue as they are using fresh phones and not transferring over their apps. Only the end user customer who is transferring their settings & apps over will be effected.
Worth keeping an eye out on the forums.
A I features are coming to the S23 series in a few months. I will be patient and save $ at the same time. I will also keep my 10x zoom, which I use all the time on my 23ultra 🇺🇸
Lot of Ai features will not come to S23ultra due to new chipset the cloud based ones will probably come later on

To get the real speeds of wifi7, your internet connection bandwidth should be faster than wifi6 speeds and atleast the same speed as wifi7

No need to upgrade. S23ultra still do fine. S24ultra has some things new, but not convinced
I still have the S22 ultra which I still find a topnotch phone. I think I will carry it till the S25 or even S26 Ultra. Spending €1000 to buy a "2 models later" phone is a bit too much
I suspect my s24 ultra came with some sort of factory defect The colors are kinda dull.
I have had Samsung since the note 3 and I love the phones. I have pre-ordered the last 3 and the 1st 2 were great. The Ultra 24 however is faulty and when you order direct, Samsung does not have a positive policy to help. Hrs of driving and on the phone with techs they decided I was to front $1700 and and send me a working phone and do some refunds. Got a new phone in 2 days but it was a fake phone (demo) and they wanted another $1700 to mail another phone. Still don't have the joy of operating the 24 ultra.

@@mandrill81 i will do the exact same thing. did you use smart switch? some people think using smart switch is causing a bug where the vivid and natural setting show exactly the same colours
