Hell yeah. Till this day my 2dsxl is still playing crap ton of games: ace attorney,omega ruby,alpha,ocarina,hm, 3dland, smash,etc and my ds collection of games andddd gba games anddd gbc andd gb😂. So yes its a one stop handheld. My switch is only for me to play botw,odyssey,,pkmn,lets go,mario,fifa,doom e and last smash ulti😂 and the battery beats my launch switch battery at least double.
A lot of people don’t agree with me but I believe that the 2DS XL is better than the switch. Playing on the switch just doesn’t give you the same vibe. With the 3DS family you can easily put it on sleep mode and continue with the game later and with the switch, even if it’s possible it doesn’t feel like you can put it down and pick the game up later. Also the switch is meant to be portable but just doesn’t feel like it is and unless you want a scratched screen you have to use a case. Also the dual screens create such unique gameplay that actually makes it worth buying even if you have an Xbox or PlayStation. Hardcore gamers might not feel the same way but I couldn’t recommend this console more for somebody who loves strategy or calm games. Even then there is still super smash bros (which is also on the switch but yeh) also animal crossing new leaf (the 3DS animal crossing) is by far better than new horizons. It may not be as aesthetic but it has all of new horizons features and more. It also focuses more on stuff you have on your island like shops and benches, lampposts etc instead of just furniture, bridges and stuff. Not to mention the fact that you can play with other players for FREE instead of paying for online. Sadly the community has died a lot since new horizons came out but I wish there were people like me that enjoyed new leaf more.
Its nice knowing that people still appreciate the 2ds xl. I have had mine for a year and I am enjoying it more that my switch. Also if you like rhythm games, project mirai dx is great and is one of my favorite games
god i love the 3DS family. i got the original model for my seventh birthday and i played the hell out of it for years and i still like to pop in some games like mariokart 7 and tomodachi life. these systems are gems!!

Out of all the ds i find the 2ds xl the best out of all of them in my opinion I have the white/orange 2ds this system is so fun and I love the library of games it has yes I highly recommend buying this console.
I've owned a 2DS XL for about two years now, and I still think it's a good buy. I recently started playing games on it again, and I forgot how much I enjoyed it when I first got one. Even if you don't play it as much as the Switch or other systems, it's still good to have for the price. Definitely get one before the price goes up gigantically.
I went to Walmart two weeks ago to get one of these, there were nine of them in stock. Next day I return with money to buy one and some scalper bought the entire stock.
10/17/2020: Me and my mom went to Walmart to buy groceries, I went to the Video game section and when I got there, I did not C a single 3DS model or a single 3DS game.
Wait for real... I have one and recently staring collecting. Have the original box and ds in perfect condition. Don’t use cause I have 2 3Ds and 1 other Ds lite. Did they end production of it everywhere or what happened?
The 3D function wasn't totally useless. Some games looked really good in 3D, and by the time they brought out the New 3DS they had implemented face tracking making the 3D much more stable.
@@evdestroy5304 Most of the time when people said that it hurt their eyes, it was because the effect was out of alignment, which the New 3DS mostly remedied.
I wont use 3d since its used mostly by gimmicky games like Nintendo first party titles and i dont play then. I mean the hardcore games and port in it dont use it
@@cleangoblin2021 I wouldn't say Nintendo's first party games are gimmicky at all. Only one I can think of off the top of my head that had a gimmicky 3D implementation was Super Mario 3D Land.
Got to try it out the New 3DS -- I love the stable 3D! It offers a different level of immersion to the games even if the gameplay doesn't rely on it as a gimmick. Too bad the first iteration left a bad impression on most people.
My dads buddy had one of these and I found it in his collection, I had been looking for one and the second I found it and realised it worked, I went to my dads friend and offered to buy it. My dad ended up buying it for me, and its only been 2 days and I already love it and highly recommend it over the original 2 or 3ds (I've owned/played both and preffer the 2ds xl) [and my current favorite ds game is Pokemon Omega Ruby]

Brought mine at the start of the year, I play it often. Literally just finished playing yoshi on it and Mario too! I spent £80 so yeah. It was second hand, though. Definitely recommend it it looks way more sleek and cooler than the 3ds xl
I have the oldest 3ds and i think it performs very well for being a couple years old. It only struggles when trying to go to the home screen from a game, but even doing that isn't that slow!
I was having a hard time finding one for months until October I went into a shoppers drug mart of all place and found that they had a 2ds for 100, a 2dsxl for 120, and a 3ds galaxy edition for 230 Canadian

I'm using one I got last year to play some old favorites like Ocarina of Time, Metroid, Luigi's Mansion, Starfox 64, etc... I'm still having loads of fun with it, and I'm glad I got my grubby mitts on the system before it was discontinued. I even used to take it to work to play during periods of downtime. It's just a lot more portable than the Switch.
I still use my seven year old 2DS and I love playing it in 2020 and I love playing Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart DS backwards compatible on my 2DS. Good times and memories 😁😇👍
I decided to go all in by buying 3 New 3DSXL/2DSXLs and homebrewing each of them with every pokemon game from gen 3-7 on each of the systems. Now I can shiny hunt on 3 consoles at once on any games. I backed up all my cartridge saves onto the systems so I can sell those and get all my money back. I can put gen 1 and 2 games on it in the future if I so choose as well. I have ascended.
I have an original 2ds that I found somewhere, and I homebrewed it so I could play a ton of games and all I had to pay was $5 for a charger. A few days ago, it stopped working so I tried to 'fix' it with no experience because I'm a moron. It works again now, but now the screen is all white.
I got a 2DS XL for Christmas 2019 and At there had already been rumours of discontinuing the 3Ds family for a few years so I still have the box, manual and AR cards.
Waiting for mine to arrive any day now - found the black/lime version for around 140€ on ebay, with Pokemon Sun (which I own, but whatever, it was by far the best deal). I intend to get some CFW/homebrew installed on this one, while my Pikachu 2DS XL remains as is - that one is still among my favourite handhelds, next to the Vita and DSlite. I'm mostly interested in SNES games, especially fan translations, and maybe some GBC/GBA rom hacks if I can figure things out...

I bought a refurbished NEW 2DS XL in October from Nintendo store. Dream came true that I got what I wanted since my childhood (the period of GBA) --a brand new handheld game system!
Mine is Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. Got Diamond at launch in the UK on July 27th 2007 and it was just so good. It was actually during the time where Pokémon wasn’t very popular, but the games felt really rich in quality. Would relive that experience again.
Picked mine up from argos bout a year ago for £99 new. Currently has 1000+ snes games, 1000+ mega drive games, 1000+ ds games, 1000+ game boy advance games and around 50 all time best 3ds games on it. Plus physical 3ds games are dirt cheap second hand or even new still, an ideal system to collect for
Damn these have held their value stupidly well. I'm not in a rush because my 3DS XL is trucking along but I might get one of these or the regular 2DS sometime later on "just in case". I call mine the SMT Machine.
My favorite DS game of ALL time is Kid Icarus.. if you haven't played you HAVE to play it at some point. I honestly feel remorse for those who go their whole life having never played it. id love to see a review on it too.. there's so much content you could talk about.. FULL voice acting, an amazing story, exciting gameplay, amazing level design, it feel like i'm playing a game on my switch.
i have an og 2DS myself and i have to say, it might look like a door wedge but it's incredibly comfortable. a well designed cheaper option imo, fits my humongous ape hands better too lmao
In a lot of ways I think that the 3ds is a better system than the Switch for its time. It had StreetPass, full DSiWare/DS backwards compatibility, Virtual Console, a overall much more charming OS with a bunch of neat little addons (Face Raiders anyone?), and eventually got Miiverse shortly after the Wii U launched. It has been three years since the switch launched and while we have gotten some amazing games, I still feel immense nostalgia for the 3DS/Wii U age of Nintendo. Commercially successful or not, gimmicks or not, Nintendo undeniably took a lot more risks with the 3DS and the Wii U than they did with the Switch, and I miss that Nintendo a lot.
I bought the Pokeball edition 2DS XL as a Christmas present to myself in 2017. I still play it a lot, and recently used it to play Pokemon Black 1 and 2 for the first time last year. Also a ton of cheap games to pick up and collect at the moment.
Got a Nintendo 2DS (Crystal Red colour) in early 2016 (previously got a Nintendo DS Lite years before). Recently decided to upgrade to a New Nintendo 2DS XL (Black + Turquoise colour) handheld last October, buying one as a refurbished product directly from Nintendo themselves, since the 2DS XL systems were no longer available to get at store shelves anymore, but the games are still available to buy. When it came in the mail, it was like brand new, nothing wrong with it, no scratches or anything to indicate it was a refurbished product. Just last month with the Christmas break ending, I decided to see if Nintendo was still offering refurbished 2DS or 2DS XL systems for sale at their website, and they no longer had them listed on their site anymore, guess they finally sold out with what was left. Other people must have got on to buying the 2DS and 2DS XLs directly from Nintendo as well.
yet when i bought my 3ds xl, we had to buy a adapter but i was super happy either way for pokemon moon and ultra moon, still a great gen but black and white and 2 and diamond and pearl and platinum , still og ( still waiting remakes).
I noticed a lot with handheld consoles that people will call it a console but then say it's not a console(despite it being a handheld console) and then switch back. 91tech does the same.
I actually the Nintendo DSi and the Flame Red 3DS I bought from Walmart on June 24, 2012. I’ve replaced the battery once ans I need to go it again. I also need to get a new “Circle Pad” rubber cover. I always used the 3D whenever it was available.
@@megami215 It works albeit only on CFW, but most people are on CFW anyways. You can do injection for native GBA games (runs like Original Hardware), or you can do emulation as well.
Yep pretty much. Aside from Sword and Shield, this lets me play every single mainline Pokemon game and most of the sideline games and I'll never get rid of it.
I've had my original 3DS from launch day. I've sunk a couple thousand hours into it with various games like Harvest Moon, Rune Factory series and the Legend of Zelda titles they had. But most of the time I played Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Monster Hunter Generations with my boyfriend. MH is easily one of my favorite franchises to date.
I have the original 3ds xl, the 2ds, the 2ds xl. And the switch and the switch light. One fav of course is new super mario bros ds and the 3ds golden coins edition :)
I still have my original 3DS XL and still play it. I'm currently playing Metroid: Samus Returns. My most recent purchase was Mario & Luigi: Dream Team from the Nintendo Selects section in the 3DS eShop.
I just bought one for my 6 year old this week. I have a Switch and an Xbox that he plays but he wants his own console and it needs to be pretty 'disposable' or difficult to break at least. I bought a used new 2DS XL on Facebook marketplace. Seems great, perfect for him. I hacked it in 20 minutes and he gets a great little machine and a gaming education 👍😂
Fun fact: New Nintendo 3DS models do not include adapter charger assuming that you are upgrading from the older 3DS models. New Nintendo 2DS XL has one. Basically, Nintendo did 1st before eventually Apple & Samsung do it.
When I was a kid I got a regular 3DS XL but I had sold it a while back. That claim the 3D bad was very apparent for the first gen 3D’s but, having the “New 3DS XL” shows me how much better they made the 3D feature it was miles better then the first gen. Still not perfect but if you’re like me and you wanted the 3D feature get the new one.
How the prices have changed... the only ones I can find now are at least $300 USED not even brand new, its insane how the value of these things has shot up in the last few years.
I bought a new 3DS XL second hand about 1 year ago for just 80 bucks, glad i did since its now impossible to find unless you are willing to pay 300 + bucks
I loved my Nintendo DS. My favorite game on it was The World Ends With You. I played through that game so many times. I never really liked the 3DS, even though I got one at launch in 2011. The games on it for the first 6 months was beyond disappointing. It took until Christmas for any good games to be released. I’d have to say after struggling through it for its first 2 years, I gave up on my 3DS and gaming as a whole until the new Animal Crossing game was released last year. I finally picked up a Switch Lite and I haven’t looked back since.
I sold mine, kinda don't regret it. I've played the hell outta my DS games back in the day, and felt like I don't need to replay them anymore. Ocarina of Time 3DS was the best .
The prices online for the 2ds Xl, especially CIB are high asf. More specifically the limited editions, like the Hylian Shield model can be found online for 300-400

Recently had a bidding war on Ebay that I lost for a Solgaleo and Lunala 3DS XL since I've had my 3DS since 2011 and it's been completely withered. But it's got me looking towards here for a brand-new 2DS XL and I'm planning on covering it in lime stickers! It's to imitate this black and lime one that looked cool but I live in New England and the 3DS is region locked from the USA.

I decided to go all in by buying 3 New 3DSXL/2DSXLs and homebrewing each of them with every pokemon game from gen 3-7 on each of the systems. Now I can shiny hunt on 3 consoles at once on any games. I backed up all my cartridge saves onto the systems so I can sell those and get all my money back. I can put gen 1 and 2 games on it in the future if I so choose as well.

I have an original 2ds that I found somewhere, and I homebrewed it so I could play a ton of games and all I had to pay was $5 for a charger. A few days ago, it stopped working so I tried to 'fix' it with no experience because I'm a moron. It works again now, but now the screen is all white.
I got a 2DS XL for Christmas 2019 and At there had already been rumours of discontinuing the 3Ds family for a few years so I still have the box, manual and AR cards.

my parent's got me this for Christmas, my old Nintendo 2DS wasn't working well, and i'm glad of it too.
Waiting for mine to arrive any day now - found the black/lime version for around 140€ on ebay, with Pokemon Sun (which I own, but whatever, it was by far the best deal). I intend to get some CFW/homebrew installed on this one, while my Pikachu 2DS XL remains as is - that one is still among my favourite handhelds, next to the Vita and DSlite. I'm mostly interested in SNES games, especially fan translations, and maybe some GBC/GBA rom hacks if I can figure things out...
i was finally able to get my hands on one after what feels like forever of looking, i’m so excited for it to get here. i usually get this really strong urge a few times a year to play OOT and lately it’s been feeling like a NEED to. i can’t wait!

I bought a refurbished NEW 2DS XL in October from Nintendo store. Dream came true that I got what I wanted since my childhood (the period of GBA) --a brand new handheld game system!
Mine is Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. Got Diamond at launch in the UK on July 27th 2007 and it was just so good. It was actually during the time where Pokémon wasn’t very popular, but the games felt really rich in quality. Would relive that experience again.
I just got a white/lavender 2DS XL for a good price. Late June, 2021. It was really hard to find a reasonable price. I am so glad!
Great handhelds. The new 3DS fixed the 3D with eye tracking. Worked very well and had a nice look.
Picked mine up from argos bout a year ago for £99 new. Currently has 1000+ snes games, 1000+ mega drive games, 1000+ ds games, 1000+ game boy advance games and around 50 all time best 3ds games on it. Plus physical 3ds games are dirt cheap second hand or even new still, an ideal system to collect for

My favorite DS game of ALL time is Kid Icarus.. if you haven't played you HAVE to play it at some point. I honestly feel remorse for those who go their whole life having never played it. id love to see a review on it too.. there's so much content you could talk about.. FULL voice acting, an amazing story, exciting gameplay, amazing level design, it feel like i'm playing a game on my switch.

i have an og 2DS myself and i have to say, it might look like a door wedge but it's incredibly comfortable. a well designed cheaper option imo, fits my humongous ape hands better too lmao

In a lot of ways I think that the 3ds is a better system than the Switch for its time. It had StreetPass, full DSiWare/DS backwards compatibility, Virtual Console, a overall much more charming OS with a bunch of neat little addons (Face Raiders anyone?), and eventually got Miiverse shortly after the Wii U launched. It has been three years since the switch launched and while we have gotten some amazing games, I still feel immense nostalgia for the 3DS/Wii U age of Nintendo. Commercially successful or not, gimmicks or not, Nintendo undeniably took a lot more risks with the 3DS and the Wii U than they did with the Switch, and I miss that Nintendo a lot.

I bought the Pokeball edition 2DS XL as a Christmas present to myself in 2017. I still play it a lot, and recently used it to play Pokemon Black 1 and 2 for the first time last year. Also a ton of cheap games to pick up and collect at the moment.

Got a Nintendo 2DS (Crystal Red colour) in early 2016 (previously got a Nintendo DS Lite years before). Recently decided to upgrade to a New Nintendo 2DS XL (Black + Turquoise colour) handheld last October, buying one as a refurbished product directly from Nintendo themselves, since the 2DS XL systems were no longer available to get at store shelves anymore, but the games are still available to buy. When it came in the mail, it was like brand new, nothing wrong with it, no scratches or anything to indicate it was a refurbished product. Just last month with the Christmas break ending, I decided to see if Nintendo was still offering refurbished 2DS or 2DS XL systems for sale at their website, and they no longer had them listed on their site anymore, guess they finally sold out with what was left. Other people must have got on to buying the 2DS and 2DS XLs directly from Nintendo as well.
yet when i bought my 3ds xl, we had to buy a adapter but i was super happy either way for pokemon moon and ultra moon, still a great gen but black and white and 2 and diamond and pearl and platinum , still og ( still waiting remakes).

I noticed a lot with handheld consoles that people will call it a console but then say it's not a console(despite it being a handheld console) and then switch back. 91tech does the same.

I actually the Nintendo DSi and the Flame Red 3DS I bought from Walmart on June 24, 2012. I’ve replaced the battery once ans I need to go it again. I also need to get a new “Circle Pad” rubber cover. I always used the 3D whenever it was available.

@@megami215 It works albeit only on CFW, but most people are on CFW anyways. You can do injection for native GBA games (runs like Original Hardware), or you can do emulation as well.

Yep pretty much. Aside from Sword and Shield, this lets me play every single mainline Pokemon game and most of the sideline games and I'll never get rid of it.
I've had my original 3DS from launch day. I've sunk a couple thousand hours into it with various games like Harvest Moon, Rune Factory series and the Legend of Zelda titles they had. But most of the time I played Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Monster Hunter Generations with my boyfriend. MH is easily one of my favorite franchises to date.
Just grabbed my 12 y.o. a purple one w/a gold pikachu case for it and I'm so glad I did...lol she loves it.
I have the original 3ds xl, the 2ds, the 2ds xl. And the switch and the switch light. One fav of course is new super mario bros ds and the 3ds golden coins edition :)
I still have my original 3DS XL and still play it. I'm currently playing Metroid: Samus Returns. My most recent purchase was Mario & Luigi: Dream Team from the Nintendo Selects section in the 3DS eShop.
I just bought one for my 6 year old this week. I have a Switch and an Xbox that he plays but he wants his own console and it needs to be pretty 'disposable' or difficult to break at least. I bought a used new 2DS XL on Facebook marketplace. Seems great, perfect for him. I hacked it in 20 minutes and he gets a great little machine and a gaming education 👍😂

Fun fact: New Nintendo 3DS models do not include adapter charger assuming that you are upgrading from the older 3DS models. New Nintendo 2DS XL has one. Basically, Nintendo did 1st before eventually Apple & Samsung do it.

I remember playing Pokémon Soul Silver on a Friday night with my 2DS XL. This is my favourite childhood console for sure.
When I was a kid I got a regular 3DS XL but I had sold it a while back. That claim the 3D bad was very apparent for the first gen 3D’s but, having the “New 3DS XL” shows me how much better they made the 3D feature it was miles better then the first gen. Still not perfect but if you’re like me and you wanted the 3D feature get the new one.

I bought a new 3DS XL second hand about 1 year ago for just 80 bucks, glad i did since its now impossible to find unless you are willing to pay 300 + bucks
I loved my Nintendo DS. My favorite game on it was The World Ends With You. I played through that game so many times. I never really liked the 3DS, even though I got one at launch in 2011. The games on it for the first 6 months was beyond disappointing. It took until Christmas for any good games to be released. I’d have to say after struggling through it for its first 2 years, I gave up on my 3DS and gaming as a whole until the new Animal Crossing game was released last year. I finally picked up a Switch Lite and I haven’t looked back since.
I sold mine, kinda don't regret it. I've played the hell outta my DS games back in the day, and felt like I don't need to replay them anymore. Ocarina of Time 3DS was the best .
The prices online for the 2ds Xl, especially CIB are high asf. More specifically the limited editions, like the Hylian Shield model can be found online for 300-400

Disagree with you completely on the 3D for the 3ds. It was pretty sweet.
Recently had a bidding war on Ebay that I lost for a Solgaleo and Lunala 3DS XL since I've had my 3DS since 2011 and it's been completely withered. But it's got me looking towards here for a brand-new 2DS XL and I'm planning on covering it in lime stickers! It's to imitate this black and lime one that looked cool but I live in New England and the 3DS is region locked from the USA.
Hey you were wrong about the N64 not being able to be emulated on the New 2DS xl. There is a Emulator called Daedualas X 64 3DS made by a dev called Masterfeizz
