- Recorded with my EARPHONES (used as a MIC) this is a little mock rehearsal with the New Edition guys while their UNCLES got ready to lipsync for me in the other room! Bobby and pals fool around on Drums & Keyboard. This is RARE! Never shown before UA-cam Yes everyone is really playing..YES I made this VIDEO in 1983.I hadda use earphones to pick up sound -you can do that but it sounds poor.....I was in BOSTON to shoot Bobby Brown's UNCLE, Michael Jonzun for TOMMY BOY RECORDS. My ex-wife JESSICA JASON & I directed TOMMY BOY's first music videos in the early 80's. Our production company VIDEOMIX production is still functional.

That's right.. he did say that in the movie 🤣🤣
lol Ralph was getting excited at the end so cute!
Very rare to see a dance and vocal group who CAN play too - I'm impressed. Thanks for the upload.
LOL !... Love Bobby but, he look like his just jumped on them bongos cause he saw them cameras rolling. Ralph was already on the set. He wasn't even in harmony with the rest, just throwing them off beat.. BEING BOBBY BROWN!!! LOL!
First of all, I would like to say thank God for youtube. Second, of all that shit was just awesome!! Why didn't they never performed like that sometimes on their shows. Just one more reason why they are my favorite R&B group of all time.
Truely one of the most talented groups of all time.
Unbelievable... These kids are so musically talented at such a young age. God bless all the members of new edition and brooke payne
Wowwww!!! Rick got Skillz on that damn keyboard
Fantastic vid. Thanks uploader. I am sooooo impressed. Ricky gets my vote. I can't believe how well he could play and at that age too. All of them are so cute. Brings tears to my eyes. They are definitely the most talented and underrated cats in the industry. Very multi faceted. Love 'em...love 'em
this is so cute!! if that's their mom's in the background, they seemed pretty happy.
jessica hogue omg doesn't this remind u of the scene in the movie where they walked in to the studio and started touching the instruments and equipment 😂😂😍😍😍
Alexandria Haynes yes it sure does!! I wonder if this was based off that scene or if they did this often.
You didn't see bobby on the tongo drums. I think that Ron off in the cut beside Ralph.
And lol at Mike at a business meeting; he probably was.
Yobachi2007 😂 Mike probably was
maybe he was the one recording? Lol
Mike playing basketball at the Roxbury Boys Club...his first love was basketball at the time.

Lashay Davis sounds toms like they can't lol
Thanks for sharing this! They all look so innocent 😇.
I thought Ricky say to Ralph that he didn't play drums in the New Edition Story LOL That's a goof.
Look at that old ass keyboard, I bet that was top of the line back then.
danewson it's called a rhodes. Do some research.
yeah, that's a rhodes and it actually possesses one of the most desired sounds/tones.
That Rhodes is is classic and still used in alot of songs today and ver much desired piece of equipment
I love it! Talented group of kids have become amazing men!
do we as a music nation have to wonder why these "boys to men" are truly the best R & B group to ever perform and record. WOW! We truly are blessed to be a part of their 25 year music career. NE for life-
The guys were getting it in!!! That's a jam session.
looks like Ricky on the keys and Ralph on the drums. Mike was probably in a business meeting (lol).
WOW, I remember when they first hit with that song. It is good to see that they could at least play the music they were singing. Nice to se. Bings back memories.
N-E jammin' on the 1!!!! lol
2:37 ralph looking at bobby like "you fucking it up... " LOL
I shot it on Videotape in 1983 at Boston International Records, in Roxbury Mass
damn, they so young!!!!!!
Always have and will always be my ultimate favorites! The last time I saw them in '05/06 their show was just as tight & entertaining as it was when I first saw them in '88. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen them in concert but one thing - they NEVER DISAPPOINT!!! When I saw them in '06 and I thought I would have to calm myself down bc I was 26 by then and couldn't act like I was a teenager or 21 anymore but please it was women w/ 10 years on me LOOSING THEIR MINDS. The best.
Even back then Bobby wasn't gonna be outdone.
Oh yes! The Modern Kings of R&B!
Ronnie hitting that snare LMFAOOOOO
Thank God for UA-cam for real! This is a piece of history! Who knew those boys had that much raw talent! They are my favorite group of all time! I feel like I know them because their music has truly been the soundtrack of my life! Thanks for this post! N.E. 4-Ever, dawg! What!!!

SHIIIIT ONE OF THE BEST UPLOADS EVER
They tore that, raw and the truth, new edition
Wow I didn't know that new edition played instruments

I think that this video was filmed on MICHAEL JONZUN's Roxbury Studio in Boston.
Those TRAP DRUMS was *Simmons or Synare* ?
Roberto Ginsburg Yeah it was...over there by Dudley Square
Simmons Toms that uses for electric drums
@@oholm09 Both, Simmons V and Synare, was popular e-drums on early 80s. A most detailed view convinced me that in The video show 2 *Synare* (The plugs) 😌

not a New Edition fan by any means (born in 89), but now that i'm into them sorta and i remember being raised on em, i've taken an interested. THANKS MUCH TO UPLOADER.
Okay, kinda caught me off guard with this one...
Very impressive video post!
what a fucking racket!!!!!! lol, as long as they were having fun though, but if Ricky knew a few chords, lol.
Nice!
i am shocked to these guys have been thru so much they could have been producing themselves the whole time!!!
I love the video and the remix, only wish that quality was better. But good job either way, especially for recording this the way you did. It could be worse. (:
Didn't know ther playing got to that level.Heard in the day they were taking lessons:^) Wow!!!!
well ill be damned..i didnt know new edition could actually play instruments..nor that they actually made that beat.
Arthur Baker and Maurice Starr wrote the music and lyrics .
Mr. Bailey e.w.f is the Master Of Falsetto! Ralph comes in at a close second!
😫😭 I am so ashamed right now I have been a fan of New Edition since the early 80s and I never knew they could play instruments I need to be slapped with a wet slice of Bologna

I've repeatedly posted that I shot this video, along with my other videos in the 80's mostly, and am a VIDEO DIRECTOR who also did AFRIKA BAAMBAATA's first two Tommy Boy pieces with mt ex-wife and partner JESSICA JASON
Ronnie has ALWAYS been my favorite. Hell, Bobby was born ugly, is anyone surprised. LOL!
what is the synthesizer behind bobby brown with 2 vu meter in the top right and a suitcase system but i think its a mixing table handly.
