    this bike is actually amazing. i watched this video before buying the bike and i’m so happy i ended up picking the clash. So much fun in the bike park but it still climbs good enough for enduro and trail rides!

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому +1

      Agreed! Solid bike overall. However I feel it’s not ideal for trail rides, a bit too heavy / slow rolling for mellow terrain. Best when pointed down steeper / rowdier terrain (or flow trails at the bike park)

    I can't decide whether this bike would be worth it for me. I usually ride trails where a 140-150 mil trail bile would be perfect, but I take about 5 trips a year to bike parks where this bike would kill. Any advice?

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  3 роки тому +5

      If you can only have one bike and your local trails aren’t similar to black diamond bike park trails, I would not recommend this one. I’d stick with a bike in the 140-150 range and one that is a bit better all rounder. This bike is only good at going downhill. And if the trail isn’t full of steep roots, drops, and rocks… the clash is quite boring to ride and takes a lot of extra effort to pedal it around. It can be pedaled uphill, but it’s slow going and hard on the legs - even when you’re already a fit/strong rider. The bike is designed well, but it’s simply heavy and full of suspension travel, because it was designed to ride the hardest tracks possible

    Happy to see you back in your hometrails in Italy. I like your new bike (even if I listen to the music in the intro, so sad, I thought that It has been stoled by thieves the day after you purchased It😂). I don't know if you can fit a 29 inch in the front and let a 27.5 in the back like Fantic and KTM, but It could be an idea to have the best of both world. About reaching 1000 subs, of course you deserve it, but you should celebrate the event doing a manual completely naked🤣. Just remember to add some blur in the 'hot spots' during editing...

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  3 роки тому

      😂 fortunately not stolen - at least not yet! Music was a bit too dramatic for the positive vibes - got it! Haha.
      And yes! I mentioned that I plan to try converting this to a 29 up front, at least to try it and see how it feels. I already have all the parts I need on my ebike so it’s a straight forward swap.
      And the idea of looping out on pavement without any clothes on is terrifying… but with the heat we’ve been experiencing maybe I’ll have to consider 🥵

    Curious where you stand on 29 v 275 for your park riding? On the fence with a meta or clash (or torque) and leaning toward 275 due to how much I plan to be downhill/park focused

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  Рік тому

      To me, the benefit of 29er roll over can’t be beat. It’s just so much smoother and faster through chunky stuff. And to me, jumping isn’t deterred that much.
      I’m on a Torque 29 now, you can find those vids on my channel as well.
      I did enjoy my clash as a mullet and loved cornering on it, so I wouldn’t mind trying another mullet (like the meta sx) for comparison. However I could still feel the smaller rear wheel getting hung up more on roots / rocks

    Great review, I've had mine for a month or so now. I had the same issue re leaking air out of the box. I fitted muc off valves and Orange sealant. I had to run the sealant around the tyres for a few revolutions and (touch wood) it seems to have held out so far but I'll definitely keep an eye out.
    So glad yours is scratched too. I nearly wept after doing the same on my second ride 😅

    My buddy has the same bike with the same tire/rim issue losing air. Also has something wrong with his Formula hub which Commencal was quick to remedy (great customer service btw). He's a newer rider so I told him it's the rim tape. I did the fix and showed him how to do it, and it helped but didn't completely solve the problem. I'm convinced it's the 532 cause we swapped tires and had the same issue. Also put Cushcore valve stems on and that helped slightly.
    He's getting EX511 w DT 350s so hopefully he'll have better luck with them.

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому

      Appreciate you sharing your experience! For additional follow up on this issue - I immediately took the tubes out and put rimpact, rimpact valves, and sealant in and instantly had issues with losing air, even through the spoke nipples. So then I replaced the factory rim tape (tubeless ready they say), and I used Gorilla Tape as I always have without issue. As you mentioned, it slowed the leaking, but I still couldn’t get through a single ride without losing air… but it’s also super intermittent, sometimes it loses air within an hour and other times it holds for a week 🤷‍♂️ I quickly wore out the stock dissector, I put a new rear dhr II on and instantly the problem went away. My stock 27.5 front still leaks intermittently with the stock tire. So it’s left me wondering if it’s an issue with the Maxxis white logo tires and 532 rim. My new yellow logo has been perfect. But I’m just guessing

    Hello, I recently got my Clash Essential (although 2022 but shouldn't be any different) and as it is my first Fox damper I could use an opinion on the setup.
    The bike came with no spacers in the damper, and when setting the air pressure so that I would not bottom out violently on my local trails I was at 15% or so sag, compared to the suggested 30% and the bike was of course feeling harsh in the beginning of the travel. So I installed 3 spacers and set about an 25% sag plus set the flip chip to the supportive, and it seems to work okay but I am still bottoming out in the biggest of features (which are not huge, I am not a pro but I like to load the bike pretty heavy while riding) and in the end of the stroke the ramp-up is really noticeable because of the spacers, and I feel there is not so much middle support either.
    Any opinions of the preferred setup? You seem to ride fast and I would appreciate sharing the suspension settings you have found on the time you have spent on the bike, maybe I have something weird going on in my setup. Maybe I should just ditch one token and have the sag a bit lower and deal with the harshness.
    Ps. Thank you for the great review(s)! Helped me to make my decision in the beginning of the year.

      Hey there! That’s correct, the 2021 and 2022s are the same. Unfortunately I’m not sure if I can provide you with the answers you’re looking for. My experience seems as though it’s been a bit different than yours. I haven’t ran any spacers and I don’t have any issues with bottom out while in the progressive flip chip position (nor harshness in the initial stroke). Although I’m tall, I’m very light at 70kg - so that may be why I don’t seem to be having a similar issue??

      @icanseeumad 2 роки тому +1

      @@GlobalTrailGuide Hey, thanks for the answer, appreciate it anyway! I am also not very heavy myself, some 75kg. Maybe I should not stare at the sag %, fiddle with the LSC settings a bit and see.

    Hello, nice review! I have ordered Clash Essentials 2 weeks ago and based on impressions coming from video - I will not be dissapointed :) Is it possible to mount 180mm rotor on front fork (Fox38) ? What kind of Disc rotor mounting is used there ( extrenal or internal center lock)?
    Many thanks.

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  3 роки тому +1

      Hey there, thanks! The 38 accepts 180mm rotors, but personally I’d recommend keeping the stock 200mm. No purpose in going smaller.
      The essential build comes with Shimano rotors, which are center lock. Once you receive your bike, enjoy!!

    yo do you wish you had gone with the new mullet META SX im having a hard time choosing between the 2. wondering if u have an opinion

    • @GlobalTrailGuide
      @GlobalTrailGuide  2 роки тому +1

      At the time of my purchase, the Meta SX didn’t exist and the Meta AM wasn’t available - which was a large part of why I got the Clash. Plus I had always wanted to try a long travel 27.5 anyways. The clash is a very fun and playful bike (aside from the weight).
      However, I would definitely go with the Meta SX now. The geometry is improved over both the AM and the Clash. Commencal went way too long with the reach numbers on the Clash and AM - as proven by them reducing the reach on the SX.

      Hey there! Thanks! I was between L and XL, I went L - even though I always ride XL with any other brand.

      192cm - normally I’d always be on an XL, but that’s a reach of 520 on Clash’s. To me, that is too long and I also think the bike would be very imbalanced with such short chainstays

    • @GlobalTrailGuide

      At 17.1 kg (37.76 lbs), it’s definitely not an ideal climber. However, with the steep seat tube, 51T cassette, and relatively efficient pedaling - it can get it done. But.. the bike is definitely heavy. Very noticeable.

      @GlobalTrailGuide  3 роки тому

      I’m 6’3, 191cm. I’m on a Large and it fits well. I definitely could have gone either way, L or XL.
      Traditionally, I always ride an XL, but these bikes are very long. Meanwhile, the seat tubes are cut very low, and I have incredibly long legs, so the only issue I’m running into is that the 170mm dropper post doesn’t reach high enough for me to pedal efficiently (Even when set at the min. insertion line). I always get 210mm OneUp droppers for my bikes, so that should resolve it in the future.
