What a great video! I was fortunate to have a tour of Michelle and Rons house and have a wonderful visit with a dear friend. You are definitely in your element Michelle and so happy for you. Gorgeous!!
The gentleman who did the finish work in the house was very talented and true to the time period.... This was his choice for that fireplace and we love it as well!
What a delightful house! Those fireplaces are to die for! I would do some of painting in Williamsburg blue. Anne’s laugh is so infectious! I wish we were all neighbors! ❤
Yes, I fell in love with these fireplaces....they are in phenominal condition and are all in working condition. Ohhhh.....I will have to checkout the Williamsburg Blue....ahhhhh! Thank you for your feedback!
How exciting for you and Ron! This is a small suggestion, no white candles, only tallow or grungy colored and light the wick of each one so it looks used. I have an Amish made dining table. It has bread board ends and stretchers around the bottom of the 4 legs. Sitting at the table encourages you to put your feet on the stretchers and is soooo comfortable. What an adventure you have ahead. You go girl.
Thank you, Charles! And great suggestions about the candles! I'll be right on that!! lol Yes, a table with bread board ends are something I am looking for! Please show photos if you can...I'd love that!
Michelle, Your home is beautiful. You have done a great job decorating and thinking about the process. I do love white walls though. Your furniture and decor show up more with white walls. However, I love the blue color in your craft room.
Oh what a delightful hour and what a beautiful home. I love the way Michele showed it before it was perfect.😂😂 She would fit right in with the Bumpkin Girls, Anne!💝
What a gorgeous home. My only advice is to take your time, like Anne said. When you have lived there a while, you will begin to know what colors you want and what feels good to you. If you buy what you truly, truly love, everything will all go together.
What a beautiful home and so many decor pieces to work with! I think my suggestion would be to start by separating your belongings into "Victorian" and "Colonial" categories and removing all "Colonial" items from rooms you want to have a Victorian look and removing all "Victorian" pieces from rooms you want to have a Colonial/Early American look. If you have pieces that fit neither category, perhaps they can be sold or passed to other family members, unless, of course, they are sentimental pieces. You will always be able to find a spot somewhere for the sentimental pieces. Just as an example, you could move your Sturbridge lamp, tavern sign, large basket by the door, and oval stacking boxes from the room with the curved Victorian cabinet that you want to make a Victorian room. I'd get everything situated by style and then you will see what needs you have. Thanks Michelle for sharing your home with us!
My earliest family that I have found are from Kentucky , he was born there in 1803. In fact both sides of my dad's family are from KY. My great-grandpa was in the Civil War, and he was interviewed in 1924 by the KS state historical society, since he was a successful homesteader and proved up his claim . Anyway he voted for Lincoln in 1865! So of course I love Lincoln, and I also have a place set aside to display Lincoln items. I did take my granddaughter to visit his birthplace. I just love this house, a gem! Thks, Ann!
I love all of the fireplaces, especially in the dining room. I think it would be nice to have a large rug in the dining room. Sage green would be a nice color to use. Beautiful home!
Thank you for the tour! I love this house! I noticed you have a cobalt blue Fenton lamp in the yellow bedroom. I have the same lamp. Now I know what to do in one of our rooms. I really miss Connecticut! ❤️
Great house!! I’d paint all of walls an off white and all of the trim in Colonial colors; reds, mustards, golds, chocolate brown, deep blues and greens!! Have fun!!
Well here’s a suggestion where they can start looking for new pieces. Try an antique show. We went to Ohio over the weekend and visited two shows ( not that I needed a thing!) that were basically primitive/early American. Dealers came from all over…even New England. We got to meet the folks from Walker Homestead. There were so many beautiful pieces for sale. The shows will be repeated the first weekend of November. And yes, I bought a few things….just s few smalls. Arnett’s were there and the Santas were gone in under an hour.
@@AnneClay Doors opened at 9am. We got in at 9:05 and they were wrapping up the last two! We bought an old German pull toy cow from them. Papier-mâché.
First of all, your home is lovely....a wonderful canvas to work with. If you really want to go primitive, my opinion (I had to do the same thing) begin by editing out the Victorian....I know it's hard but it makes such a difference and as you replace those things with prim pieces, you will really move closer to that early American primitive style. I might suggest more wooden ware accessories, add some woven coverlets & early textiles, old baskets, lanterns, old leather books and pottery and you are on your way. Educate yourself on things that came from that period and then be on the look out. Best of luck in your journey.
Great tour! Beautiful Home! The cupboard you want to give away could be painted and used to hold your TV?? I am not a fan of anything white so I agree with you. I vote a colonial red or blue for where the TV room and to keep that one color going throughout your home. Just a thought! What a Wonderful home for your family to gather!
There is every possibility that the house grew over time. I volunteer in one where the original structure was 1 room with a sleeping loft over head built in 1793 then it was enlarged between 1813 and 1820. Please research you home records.
That’s how most homes grew back then… they just kept adding on. My home started as a cape and then they kept building out. Now it’s a maze where people get lost.
We have 3 bathrooms....one in master bedroom, one on first floor and one on second floor. This is a good point! We'll show those in a future video! Thanks for your question.
The home is beautiful, but shes got to settle on what she wants. One room colonial, the next room is Victorian, with a couple of primitive pieces thrown into the mix, there's no cohesiveness to the house. Its what i do and i am trying to be careful to, one stay in budget and two stay within the same time period throughout the entire house
Yes, Michele....that is the plan. It is hard when you have some antique inherited victorian pieces that are hard to part with. I am going for the early american style
I don't know how i ever missed this video! I jumped in to see if Cousin Mel had done her fall home tour yet and found you both as a treat.
Wonderful story, magnificent home. Thank you for sharing, from Waterbury, VT / Miami, FL
Thank you for your nice comments!
I wouldn't change anything I love the way everything looks😊
Michelle has a good eye for arranging.
Thank you, Diane....I appreciate you viewing and commenting!
I love ALL the white woodwork. That’s what makes your home look so light & bright instead of the usual dark primitive.
It is very light and airy.
White trim didnt become popular until the 1920’s when white lead pigment became available
Thank you Michelle for sharing your beautiful Early Colonial Home. Can’t wait to see how you further decorate your home in that period.
Thank you!
Such a wonderful tour of Michelle's beautiful home.
Glad you enjoyed it.

We’re happy to have her!
Thank you, Carol. It surely was a great visit!
My suggestion for your dining room table style would be more towards the shaker .Shaker style furniture we go With Your Love of early American...🙂
Also love the room upstairs that Anne loves with the fireplace without a mantel...drooling
The gentleman who did the finish work in the house was very talented and true to the time period.... This was his choice for that fireplace and we love it as well!
I know. I drool every time I look at the video of that fireplace.
What a delightful house! Those fireplaces are to die for! I would do some of painting in Williamsburg blue.

Me too. I love the fireplaces!
Are they not spectacular??? Thank you for your nice comments!
Beautiful home and so exciting to be able to decorate. Anne, you and Alice are perfect to give advice. Looking forward to see the progress.
Thanks Martha.
Thank you, Martha.....more to come!

I do like the white trim ...works well flowing from room to room
It does flow well!

Deanna, you are correct....education is key! Thank you!
The Martha room color is beautiful...don't do curtains, use shades...pull down when needed. Love the light in that room❤
Ahhhhh....great idea! We do have shades on those windows, too! I do love that color! Thank you!

Thank you, Carmen.....great ideas!
Love your granddaughters sweet bed❤
Thank you! Another fabulous FBMP find lol
So sweet!
Beautiful home. Period style soda and wing back chairs. Period paint colors on walls, deeper colors. Period style fireplace and mantels.
Good advice. Fortunately the mantels are original to the house. I love all her fireplaces.
Thank you for your advice....We do plan to paint in period williamsburg colors
I wouldn't change anything everything looks lovely the way it is and it's really looks primitive so I wouldn't change anything.
Thank you so very much! I apprecite your viewing and commenting!
It’s gorgeous
Thank you, Dawn....certainly a work in progress!
So true
It looks very nice ❤ I live in Massachusetts, so not too far from both of you.. have a wonderful weekend 😊🌷

Hi Della
We'll have to meet, Della!
Could she tell us where she got her curtains and rods in the dining room? Beautiful house!!!
She trying to read and answer all of you so hopefully she’ll see this.
I got the curtains on ebay (preowned) and the rods on Amazon.
One more thing from me... I loved
the checkerboard floor that USED TO BE IN THE FOYER....😢
Right??? I wish that was still there!
I know. I thought that was pretty cool too!
There was a stenciled floor in the large middle room upstairs as well!
👋🏻 An amazing house.
I appreciate that Laurievoelker9005 🙂
I agree!
Beautiful home. The white trim seems too bright. Maybe tone down all the paint colors to get the prim feel.
We agree and are in the process of deciding on colors at this time....another video is coming soon.
Dining room is great, maybe an earlier harvest table?
Great suggestion!
Yes, a nice old harvest table is our future plan! Stay tuned!! lol Thank you for commenting and watching!
Where did you get your prairie curtains ? Love them all
I got them on Amazon.....I will try to find the link for you!
Thank you , the house is beautiful
1st sell or donate all country cuties and reproductions, etc.
You should see a big difference after that .
I appreciate that advise! :-)
When I was changing styles I was afraid the Salvation Army would turn me away for too many donations.

It just may explain the 1795 date attributed to the house lore.
