  • Halls Garage restore a 1960 Austin LD light commercial truck. Started off in life as a one off build for W. Ward & Sons Nurseries, receiving a chassis extension and a bespoke body as ordered from new. Finally on the road in 1961 it saw service carrying plants till about 1996 when it was taken off the road and left to deteriorate.
14 years Later, Steve hall is offered the truck. By a twist of fate, the faded paintwork is a near match for Steves FIA MGB race car and the extended chassis is long enough that it would fit inside the bodywork.
Once a one off build from new, 2 years worth of work and now restored for another one off purpose, a historic transporter for a historic race car.

What a great job on the restoration. Back in the 60`s, I had to deliver a second hand one of these from South London to Great Yarmouth. I was nearly deaf by the time I got there. Not a bad vehicle to drive, but noisy was an understatement.

Caught the SU carb and the aluminium rocker cover I'm guessing from the 70s or early 80s. What engine is it?

Was the Ecurie a tribute to Ecurie Ecosse or is the Ecurie merely a reference to your racing stable?
I get to go to the Festival of Speed and The Revival at Goodwood each year. Pining for a lack of The Revival this year. I'd love to see your transporter and car there some year.
Next project a vintage caravan with awning to tow for the racing team and vehicle support?
Before the Ecurie Ecosse Commer sold I was allowed all over the transporter and the owner was very friendly. Extremely easy going for what turned out to be a £1.6M vehicle. I expected the vehicle to disappear as it was sold to an American buyer but it still attends The Revival.
Your link to Wolfmotorsport on the About page doesn't work.

I believe it was some sort of tribute but I am not sure, I don't own the transporter or the MGB, I have only done a lot of work on both of them and raced the car but I have no association with the owner anymore.
My personal website is something I need to get sorted.
