It’s probably the dullness of everything. Sims 3 had very dull lighting that toned everything down
Also probably how sharp the plants look. Sims 4 plants have been really fluffy and green always (and not as textured)...but not anymore! :)

If you want thunderstorms, hang out in Forgotten Hollow in Summer. Forgotten Hollow doesn't have an ice/roller rink or a food vendor, though.
