- In 1978, Hughes Airwest partnered with a long time friend, Sunset Magazine (Sunset Films) to develop and produce a top quality 16mm film dedicated to the great employees of Hughes Airwest. The mission of the film was three fold:
1. To thank the employees for six straight years of profitability
2 .Information about future plans:
3. Intro of the new 'YES' advertising campaign.
My Dad was John Jones, he was hired by Air West @ SFO, in 1966. He went on through RC and on to NW.. But I will always remember racing a RW D9S up the fwy from SJC to OAK. Dad passed in 2020 but these video help keep him alive in my memory. Thank you, so much for posting.
John Jones was a good dude, liked by just about everyone I ever ran into!
Wow! Saw people I worked with at LAX that I haven't seen in decades! Amazing!
What a great video, of a great airline

Thanks Tom Bailey for your detailed movie. I was an Australian passenger with RW Hughes Airwest just merged with Republic Airlines RC.
Flew just then RC with RW feel mid December 1980 between LAX and YEG on DC9-15RC with great YES service and aircraft still had banana yellow jet colours and cabin crew with tan uniforms. I have many photos we had a diversion to Lewiston not Spokane. Have picked up new Republic Airlines paper Time Tables 1980 and still have them. Continued to Edmonton Alberta. Still have salt and pepper snap open rippled shakers from Hughes Airwest food service from the flight!
Love and miss Hughes Airwest as I do with Ansett Airlines of Australia similar organisational cultures.
Hughes Airwest had the the same feel with our now long gone Ansett Airlines of Australia.
Ansett 727.
Thank you for your efforts over the years Tom including the Hughes Airwaet web site. Your work is much appreciated by so many of us.

@@tjbailey29820 It is, though.
What happened with the rest of your career? Did you move to Republic or Delta?
