Ridiculous that you have to do that but I get it. I live off grid and there's nothing better than knowing you have privacy. You guys are awesome. Keep doing what you're doing. It's working ❤❤❤
When planting a tree, you should fill the hole with the original soil from the hole, mixed with some compost. You can also use water to gently settle the soil and remove air pockets. Here are some other tips for planting a tree: Backfill: Use the original soil to fill the hole, making sure to break up any clods. You can also mix in 10-20% compost. Water: Water the tree directly after planting, and then continue to water it until the soil is level with the surrounding soil. Mulch: Spread 2-4 inches of mulch around the base of the tree, but keep it away from the trunk. Mulch helps retain water, control weeds, and insulate the soil. Don't use fertilizer: Don't use fertilizer, potting soil, or chemicals on newly planted trees. Prune: You can prune broken or dead branches, but wait until the tree has been in the ground for about a year for any additional pruning. Break up root balls: If the tree is root-bound, break up the roots before planting. Plant at the right time: Bare root seedlings should be planted during the dormant season, which is usually late spring or early fall.
This is the perfect time to transplant trees. Water well before the first freeze. That stays with the roots throughout the winter. When March comes around you can fertilize the tree and water well. Good luck with everything. 😊
YES! My husband bought himself a bigger chainsaw and a Alaskan sawmill this year. He started utilizing down tree's and cutting our very own lumber. It's gonna take a couple years of drying, but so worth it. Eventually he wants to purchase a sawmill, just need to save up for one. Love knowing we can remodel our cabin using wood from our own land. ❤
@CantContainUs I get it, moving trees around won't hurt the woods, cutting trees down will. We are working on making our property invisible from roads as well. Good luck
When digging up the cedar tree 🌲🌲🌲 you have to remember that the tap root runs deep in the ground and you have to get as much of the tap root as you possibly can. Or the tree will die. It would be best to dig up a 3 to 4 foot cedar tree 🌲 to transplant because cedar's grows fast. A 3 foot cedar will grow to 5 to 6 foot in three years. Cedar never go dormant they continue to grow even through the winter. And technically they're not called cedars they're called juniper trees because they are the family of the junipers. It's that we just call them cedar's. The berries that's on the cedars just by taking them and throwing them on the ground they ain't never going to do nothing the only way that they're going to grow is Blue Jays and Cardinals eats them then wherever a tree that they're sitting in whenever they drop their droppings that's how the berries of the cedars grows it takes birds for the cedar berries to make trees. And you don't want to feed the cedar berries to your chickens because it's poison to the chickens even though the chickens are birds does cedar berries are poisonous to the chickens.
I’m in North Texas and I have had problems like this but luckily they moved off and we have had great peace and quiet since and I hope the same for you as well.
@@CantContainUs yes be careful with bamboo, once they are in the ground they will spread and take over if you are not careful. The root system is almost impossible to remove once it takes hold. Having said that it definitely makes a beautiful privacy fence. ❤🇨🇦
@@CantContainUs Like others have said bamboo spreads like crazy so be careful and use a bamboo barrier if you do plant it. It's a hard plastic to block the roots from spreading.
Yes planting those trees ought to really yank those nasty neighbors crank. I think that's a really great idea plus it decorates and landscapes the yard.
You might want to check ourt Bambo trees they grow really fast and depending the species if planted in alternate rows you can have a wall quick. Fact 1 , make sure you check with state regs there are a few species you can not control they are extremly invasive
I transplanted several cedars for a wind break. Had the best luck with two or three footers. They seem to grow the fastest. The only problem was cedar rust that got my fruit trees. Good luck.
I’m sooo sorry that u guys have to still go thru that all with the neighbours. But having that shelter and not having to go pay is definitely a blessing that’s forsure!!!!! U guys r doing an excellent job on it all!!!! Keep going strong!!!!
I totally get why you'd want to build up more coverage. We moved from the country to a small village, and it totally creeps me out when I can see people out my window, knowing that they can look in. If I had my druthers, there would be wall of evergreens, two deep, surrounding our property. Another thought for you guys. Forsythia grows quickly and provides nice privacy pretty quickly. It's a weed bush and is probably cheap and plentiful. You might put a row of that on the far side of the evergreens just for more coverage in a few years, as the trees fill out.
Yes, I'm very aware of the value of privacy. We live in the country on 40+ acres, but our house was built within sight distance of the nearest neighbor. Thankfully, there is a stand of trees between our properties, but the trees are not ours, and they could take them down at their will. We have a very peaceful existence, now, and prefer it that way. So, we planted a lot of loblolly pines...very fast growing. We now have much more privacy. The bugs are Asian Lady Beetles, and now infest many states every fall. As soon as farmers harvest, the seek a warm place to over winter. I battle them all winter and until mid-spring. My hand vacuum is my greatest tool for the job.
We planted giant thuja trees along our fence line. Bought them at Lowes. In 5 years, they have grown 25 feet. These were only 5ft. When we put them in. They cost $35 each.
A less expensive alternative could be to put an inclined roof on the deck in front of the trailer house and plant some trees or bushes around the deck. God bless you.
Well done by you both and it will really make your winters greener and happier. Great job. You have paradise and very lucky because you have each other thats special
Keep in mind all the little 2 footers in only 2 yrs they will be around 5 to 7ft tall, and the root balls are alot smaller and more resilient, I see alot of the small ones. You might be able to plant well 50 or so. Doing a great job love seeing the progress
I really like the way that you two get along with each other. Life is so much easier and happier when you have a spouse that is on the same page as you are. Good luck with your adventures. God bless.
Take some of the smaller trees. It will help the woods around that spot, they will grow and you can do larger ones also and get a wider range of heights. The small ones will also grow to even out with the others you transplant. I've also had better luck getting younger/smaller tress to survive the transplant. They're also way quicker to move. You heed to get a "Turning Fork" and loosen the soil around the root ball. It will allow water and air to get into the soil and it's easier for the roots to get restarted.
Good use of your property. We had some maple trees that were growing in our flower beds close to the house ( I think the cat moved the seeds there, or the squirrels). We moved them to near our property line and now they are really big trees.
It is a shame you Move out like you have and still have people that are like that. What I see is 2 young people trying to make a home for there self and not owe a lot of money on it I think you doing a great job and wish you the best
I really appreciate your kindness, Robert! It’s something I’ve never quite understood, how the same people who talk about others being entitled are the ones giving us trouble. Cody and I are just out here, building our home with our own two hands, but somehow they still find issues with it. I wish more people would focus on investing in themselves instead of worrying about what others are doing. The hours they waste on us is just mind-blowing. One thing’s for sure, though…Cody and I will always keep our priorities on each other and our own life.

Great show guys it’s a pity you have terrible people next what I suggest you do is put some high green netting up wrapping it around the trees till your trees grow that netting is cheap an most affective it’s a great screen barrier an will last a long time 👌😍
Yes I understand completely. We have 9 acres but in winter can see and hear our neighbors. Not what we want to hear them screaming at each other or speak to negative ppl.. I get it. Can't change house location but trees Yes I get it.
From the looks of the area, as long as you spread it around, it doesn't appear you would take too many of the seedlings. Enjoyable video. Have a blessed week and I'll see you guys on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
I have planted trees twice in my life. Once for snow protection 50 years ago and then for privacy protection 27 years ago. Now I live in a 16 story condo. That's how it goes in life. Great video!
Y’all are just making more work for me LOL! Now I wanna go out on my property and “transport” some of my smaller trees to block off an old pathway and spruce up that barren area. Technically you did have to “transport” them from the forest to their new home to transplant, hehe. Fortunately my house sits far enough in the middle of my property that you can’t see it from the road or neighbors anytime of the year…and I’ve only got one unruly neighbor that doesn’t bother to venture the 2 miles back my way very often. 😂
I don’t know where you’re located , but Home Depot has Thuja Green Giant arborvitae trees for about 29$ each , the size is 3 gallon/ about 3 feet tall, but they grow about 5 feet a year. I bought & planted dozens of them 5 years ago and they are all full and nearly 30 feet tall. They are highly resistant to disease and pests, they are beautiful hardy evergreens. They are also easy to propagate, so you can just purchase a few, and propagate the rest to save a bunch of money.
Great idea!! Maybe try planting them from seed as well. So happy for you! Better now than later! It makes sense that’s why you move to the country for privacy.
