One thing you can do about the catacombs is take the Occult Club you find in Anor Londo, and revert it to a Divine Club +5 for zero effort on your part
Really fun video! By the way, if anyone is curious about "Hawk Girl" that section of the guide is actually talking about the item trading bird (known by the community as Snuggly the Crow). The guide even reccomends that you leave an item with her before you leave the asylum. I actually just watched a video by illusory wall all about Hawk Girl, so that really stood out to me.
Thanks dude! Yeah, I few people had mentioned that Illusory Wall video when it came out and I was not aware of a lot of what he talks about in his video. Appreciate the insight!

Using a guide that doesn’t understand the lore to the point that they call “Hollows” “Zombies” is just…. a really good sign right off the bat lol. I can’t wait for the rest of this video!
I mean in fairness hollows are pretty much zombies, they aren’t your typical modern day virus infected zombie, but they are slow half decomposed (well… “half mummified”, but you get the point) reanimated brainless corpses walking around pretty slowly and killing everything in sight.
I agree! Especially with how big of a part hollowing, going hollowed, and the fear of hollows is. It’s not like they had to dig that deep to find what they’re called
On my first playthrough, the bonfire by the Great Hollow was the first one I discovered after Blighttown. Didnt even know about Quelag yet. A message indicated the fog wall, so I went down the Great Hollow, all the way to the Dragon Covenant, realised it was a dead end, and then eventually, all the way up again. Let's just say it was quite the adventure.
I think with the Fire Damage for the O&S fight they could be referring to Charcoal Pine Resin that you can buy from the Female Undead Merchant in the sewer shortcut to Firelink and applying it before entering the fight
Pretty sure you get get the Quelagg sword by ascending a curved greatsword at the giant blacksmith right? You’d need to have a +10 curved greatsword before going to Anor Londo tho
about 4kings nearest bonfire, im pretty sure the nearest one is in darkroot (near the black knight guarding grass crest shield), then you run into the valley, through the opened flood gate, take the elevator up, run a bit and jump down next to the boss fog, just dont get stabbed by the darkwraith
if you go down to ash lake before you get the lord vessel then just dont rest at the bonfire, that way you can use a homeward bone to get out of there easy
6:59 To be honest, there is a good reason to go down there, the Dragon Greatsword. Since you can find a couple of dragonscales up to blighttown and in ash lake, it is possible to upgrade it and smack Quelaag's head in. Granted it needs 50 strength investment to one-hand it, but "only" 34 to two-hand it. Also, I know that this is for a probably first playthrough guide, but if you know how to get down to ash lake without needing to use any of the bonfires, you can just homeward bone all the way back up
You can also get 10,000 souls from the Ash Lake Hydra if you manage to run all the way past it to rest at the Stone Dragon bonfire without dying. When you start to go back, the Hydra will end up committing suicide because it gets trapped by the big tree. Then you just have to make it all the way back up to Andre The Blacksmith so you can buy the Crest Of Artorias from him.
Totally random detail that I'm going to nitpick because I have ADHD is that you can use fire resin to apply fire damage to your weapon for O&S I use it on my zweihander and face tank them because I'm terrible at the game and refuse to play without an obnoxiously large sword

you CAN get quelaag furysword, and absolutely shit all over Snorlax and Picachu, you can also save the pyro boy from the depth entrance and get pyromancies, and you can join the chaos covenent right after quelaag and get that juicy chaos pyromancy
I still have this stategy guide. I got it as a kid when the game first came out and it actually helped so much. It has full maps of all the areas, detailed descriptions of every enemy and attack in the game and charts for all the item stats. It even has a vitality chart that shows how much HP you get at each level of vitality from 1-99. Some serious nostalgia for that book.
No yeah, the maps and artwork are sick. If anything, it feels more of a guide of “this enemy has this much health and does this much damage” and not “go here then here then here”
I feel like i cant say this without trying to really express thats it constructive criticism. Please...pick part of the screen and get out of the center. I feel like someone is standing in front of the tv when im trying to watch it and its impossibly distracting.
I get what youre saying, and I think if he did what you are saying, he would probably appeal to a broader audience, But I kinda like the chaotic nature of the screen.
Bro getting a bow asap is highly recommended to draw out enemies one by one, get free damage pre fight, and just generally draw aggro as needed. Consider it like a utility sidearm.
"You can't get a fire weapon until the catacombs" Quelaag's Furysword, you can get it from Gough before O&S and even get it to +5, it pretty much trivializes the fight since they're so weak to fire and it has high damage for this point in the game.
13:50 - Whenever I'm doing Four Kings I use the bonfire in the rocky tunnel between the end of the Valley of Drakes and Darkroot Garden, near where the Grass Crest Shield is. You can just go down the elevator, across the bridge, and straight into the wooden buildings in New Londo with (relatively) minimal resistance. I'm not sure if it's shorter but it's definitely easier!
Loved the vid man! For the fire damage suggested at Anor Londo, maybe the guide was referring to Queelags boss weapon? I used this to defeat O&S as I couldn't get the timing of the Zweihander down
Popped up in my recommended, liked the video, good work! I’ve never played the first souls game but watched my friend play a lot so this was interesting to see how much this guide varied from his pathing
Haha this is great, oh and also, there IS a bonfire closer to the four kings. From firelink you go down to New Londo, then before even reaching the ghosts you turn right, take another lift, then you’re in the valley of drakes, and then you can run past the weird poison vomit dragon, run into this exit on the side, go up a lift, and there’s a bonfire. From there you go down the lift, continue past the 3 or 4 blue drakes, run into the big doors, and then you’re at the section with the darkwraiths.
For the Four Kings bossfight, instead of running from Firelink Shrine, you can take the bonfire in the cave that's up the elevator in Valley of the Drakes and use the shortcut across the bridge.
Many people have said this, and I honestly don’t know. I used that bonfire on my most recent play through, and I don’t know if it’s just not knowing that route or if I’m just bad, but it felt just as long/difficult as the fire link route.

I only fight Pinwheel and go down to Tomb Of The Giants after I give 30 Humanity to The Fair Lady to unlock the secret door and get the Sunlight Maggot.
If it hasn't already been answered I remember this guide and I am pretty sure from the inference that he's combining the voice of Sparkly the crow (and not understanding she an invisible NPC) and the giant crow that carries you into one entity and also confusing the crow for a hawk thus "Hawkgirl"

Heavy "i just watched general sam's video's. I think ill give it a go, how hard could it be?" Vibes
I’ve been watching Sam since like 2015, but yeah pretty much. NakeyJakey was doing it way before him, but a very different vibe.
@@AquaSloth love them both NakeyJakey's uploads are so infrequent he didn't come to mind. I look forward to seeing you grow.
New fav dark souls vid
19:50 That's not Quelana, she's still in blighttown after you kill this pyromancer
I did not know this at the time, but a few people have pointed that out! Thank you for the into!
We have General Sam at home
The General Sam at home:
Nah fr I was just about to comment
I feel like i cant say this without trying to really express thats it constructive criticism. Please...pick part of the screen and get out of the center. I feel like someone is standing in front of the tv when im trying to watch it and its impossibly distracting.
I get what youre saying, and I think if he did what you are saying, he would probably appeal to a broader audience, But I kinda like the chaotic nature of the screen.
He should continue being front and center just in spite of your preference
I feel like it makes sense that hes commentating and not explicitly focused on gameplay.
@@derknrownonline1323 😂
Stop bro, he’s trying to be General Sam.
This guy is like Dollar General Sam
Bro getting a bow asap is highly recommended to draw out enemies one by one, get free damage pre fight, and just generally draw aggro as needed. Consider it like a utility sidearm.
"You can't get a fire weapon until the catacombs"
Quelaag's Furysword, you can get it from Gough before O&S and even get it to +5, it pretty much trivializes the fight since they're so weak to fire and it has high damage for this point in the game.
I used this to defeat O&S as I couldn't get the timing of the Zweihander down
ALERT ALERT ALERT!!!! If you wanna use the crystal halberd for the rest of the run, it still gets fully repaired whenever you upgrade it
Popped up in my recommended, liked the video, good work! I’ve never played the first souls game but watched my friend play a lot so this was interesting to see how much this guide varied from his pathing
The Bed of Chaos is a perfect boss that has no flaws whatsoever, I love fighting him and I truly think that Dark Souls 4 should have Lost Izalith 2
Yeah, and there should also be a lot more Dragon Asses.
Lmao at the guide sending you straight to the graveyard
They knew damn well what they were doing
For the Four Kings bossfight, instead of running from Firelink Shrine, you can take the bonfire in the cave that's up the elevator in Valley of the Drakes and use the shortcut across the bridge.
Many people have said this, and I honestly don’t know. I used that bonfire on my most recent play through, and I don’t know if it’s just not knowing that route or if I’m just bad, but it felt just as long/difficult as the fire link route.
This is such great content. I have seen every single piece of Dark Souls youtube content and I am so happy to find someone making new videos still.
I hope this channel blows up so we can get more. And also with better audio :c some tiny bits had me going back cause I couldn't hear some words... But thats an easy fix. There are great affordable mics like the AT2020 or a regular SM58 that might help.
My man, thank you for those mic recommendations! I liked General Sam's style with the reporter mic, but I don't have an audio interface (yet), and my Blue Snowball looks goofy as fuck in my hands. I'll peep that SM58 and hopefully do better in the next video.
Seriously, thank you for this comment.
more of this style of video please! also the algorithm REALLY picked up this video, it was recommended to me 3 days in a row and it didn't disappoint
This gives major General Sam vibes. Good Work bro. Keeping making this content it goes hard.
Thank you dude! I’m very glad you enjoyed it, I will do my best
I go down there for dragon head at the beginning of the game
You can forge Quelleags sword at the Anor Londo Blacksmith, so yeah, fire damage before catacombs
True that but you can just buy charcoal pine resin much before that. The humanity weapons are memes
Do more content like this, mic and all. Loved it
Accualy closest bonfire to 4 kings and cousin is above valley of drakes
Its way better you can run past everything and you are there in 1 minute
Was expecting to see a few hundred thousand subs when I subbed and I must say I was surprised pekachu to the max
This program was made possible by contributions to your Aqua Sloth station from viewers like you 🫡
Thank you for checking it out dude! I am very very appreciative of your support
HILARIOUS video bro. Very happy this popped up on my Sunday morning. You should do Dark Souls 3 next!
about bows, even if u don't intend to use it as a main damage source, it is good for baiting enemies and making some situations smoother
Fighting pinwheel AFTER 4 Kings and Seath is unhinged
I only fight Pinwheel and go down to Tomb Of The Giants after I give 30 Humanity to The Fair Lady to unlock the secret door and get the Sunlight Maggot.
If it hasn't already been answered I remember this guide and I am pretty sure from the inference that he's combining the voice of Sparkly the crow (and not understanding she an invisible NPC) and the giant crow that carries you into one entity and also confusing the crow for a hawk thus "Hawkgirl"
Funny how the guide mentions "zombies" and not "hollows".
I also found it super strange. Especially considering it calls the other enemies armored hollows. They were almost there
@@AquaSloth This video and some others got me thinking about how some good 10 years ago video game magazines had a whole bunch of info masticated by "video game review experts" and we kids bought the mags and were delighted with all the pictures and etc but not really paying the amount of attention (to detail, mainly) that we can easily do today. I cannot make up my mind if the guides are really supposed to be helpful or just detailed enough to make our brain take a trip thinking the people who wrote them are really interested in helping us players...
Just a Tip for 4 Kings the Spot where you get the Grass crest shield also has a cave nearby with a Bonfire that way the Run Back is way faster and does Not tilt you into another Dimension.
Otherwise great Video man 👍
See, if the guide was good I would know that.
I take no responsibility.
Thank you tho, appreciate ya!
I went to ash lake without the lord vessel.. I'm an idiot. I got out but ouch
"I've never done a mage build"
Same bro.
Thank's UA-cam algorithm for this gemstone!
Amazing content, timing, jokes! And, please!! Do the Elden Ring one!!!
Cheers from Brazil
This guide was either made by a hawk simp, or a troll
yeah shit ain't very good tbh. but at least it's correct the majority of the time and the concept are is cool
I got about 2 minutes In before the random and chaotic placement you were in put me off entirely.
Yo this shits funny and entertaining as hell good work
Thank you homie, I am so glad you enjoyed! I just finished the script for the next vid. Shooting for next week
@@AquaSloth Subbed and ready 👀
The mouse cursor in the top left of the screen distracted me
Just scoot closer to the screen, it’ll go away
I found a copy of that guide for $20 at my local half Price books last year. Definitely a good buy!
FUCK you’re the second person that’s said they thrifted it, that’s so sick. It’s on Amazon for like $80-$100, but I can’t justify buying it just to have it. That’s a sick find though!
Heres my guide:
>Rush straight to pinwheel with the shortcut down the catacombs
> k i l l
>Go to Blighttown through the valley of the drakes
>Get bonk stick
>You now have best weapon and 20 estus
>Beat game
> Get great scythe
> Fire enchant
> Rule with an iron fist
I’m so glad that, with general Sam going bald, we now have a second, more bountifully-haired version of him to fill the void
LMAOOO I’ll accept that. Once he has his third kid I will take the reins and finally download Tarkov and Kenshi. Hope my hair holds out.
Was not expecting Hawthorne Heights Ohio is for Lovers to be mentioned in this video but I'm happy it did.
i miss the days of strategy guides. i still have a original goldeneye one from ng4.
I had the ocarina of time and a lot of the Pokémon ones, but I am kind of shocked to find that they still made them in 2011. Thought the internet would have driven them off
oh shit i was expecting to see you with atleast 50k subs, keep it up man the contents great
"Every time I tell a filthy scrub to gid gud, they owe me 80 bucks" - the author of the guide
Really love the video. Your humor and pacing are so perfect and engaging
Can’t wait for the inevitable Elden Ring playthrough!!!
