Was going to buy a HF truck crane but this is really cool. Effortless lifting with hoist better than a hand crank & no power needed as a bonus!. The only thing I would reccomend is to put something at the bottom of the crane to transfer the weight it lifts to the ground rather than your trucks suspension. A bottle jack, a 2 ton pump car jack or another steel bar rig you weld up yourself. Particularly the right side is seeing the bulk of the stress so it would help save the shock, springs, control arms whatever over time. It could also prevent the stress caused on the truck and the crane by keep the crane from tilting outward. Pretty cool though. I like it!!!! Nicely Done!!! Thanks for telling us the wieght of the laod too!

Needs a stabilizer leg under the mast's base down to the ground...obvious if it hasn't been commented already.
That steel looked like it was at the top end of it's tensile limits there. Good idea, works well, but I probably wouldn't try lifting anything heavier
It will pop someday, 🤔

Best simple crane hitch attachment by far , I loke the second hitch assembly nice , mind if I ask for some materials plans
I would add a rear out rigger of some sort to stop the twist on the lower part of the lift.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing
Good idea , needs some improvements.
Looks like it may not hold up to many of those heavy lifts though.
Just being honest, the mast is too weak.
What is the diameter of the two bottom round pipes and what is the thickness of the all tubes inserts inside round pipes?
Nice done

much too slow using a chain block when you can buy a ATV winch and fit it for peanuts .. Called working smarter not harder !!!! But I really appreciate the design of the crane ! Bravo !
I think I would add a leg that goes to the ground under the column
That’s how you get some god damn work done! Shit I’m puttin one on my fuckin truck right now!
While not shown (since I thought this log was light!), the truck crane also has an outrigger/stabilizer that can quickly be installed as shown at: suncatcherstudio.com/truck-crane/
Nice vid man, crane is cool!
yeah that mast could use a bit of vertical reinforcing...or just don't pick so heavy logs :D
Some type of a bearing application at the pivot point. Steel on steel equals too much friction
Nice job there!!

That's a LOT of moment (or torque) on that hitch connection. Might slowly warp and fatigue the metal there.
Great homemade crane though!

ya, great build, but the far end needs a scissor jack or something as such, you went down 6 + inches before you went up

Great for dressing your deer harvest too
Love the awesome idea mount, and all. Was wondering could this setup be left on while driving down the road? I have a ladder rack to keep the top secured. Just wondering cause my back isn't the best these days. Thanks for the video.

Notice the Chevy squat and the running boards almost on the ground
If I make this out of a 3x2x1/4 inch rectangle tube would it be strong enough for 2000 pounds? I would also have a leg to support it.

That set up is nice, but I would worry about it coming down on my head.
put a small electric wench on it. save you a lot of pulling... Love the idea of a double hitch,

I think I could have muscled it in and been on my way by the time he set that crane up.
Good idea but the whole thing needs refinement. Flexing once or twice is OK but fatigue will eventually set in...

Nice.
I could use one of these
Block & tackle's a bit slow...should attach an electrical winch to crane...not big price difference
Do they make one tall enough to hoist a refridegerator onto a pick up bed ?
The crane bring the truck to the log😂
TOWER CRANE : HOLD MY BEER.
nice
Nice idea . Looks great I would reinforce it some more if possible.Great job though.'
Im curious how you got such an exact weight for the log?
probably a weigh station or a scale at a scrap yard
Hey man, awsome job. Does the bottom bit need bearings or grease or anything or does it spin just fine?
