    Just got this bike, my first MX bike. I spent last season which was my first season ever riding, on a 2019 CRF250F and let me tell you, HUGE difference. I love riding on a track more so than trails and I was pushing the F model well beyond its limits. I hopped on the 250r and other than the change in seat height (I’m only 5’ 7) I felt way more comfortable. The power is there where as the F just didn’t have enough to get me out of a corner and over the following doubles at my local track. This video helped me choose to continue to ride red so thank you. Awesome bike! Now it’s time for some FMF pipes!

    Does the crf250r feel as planted as the yami does though? I did like that about the 250f when I test rode it. Idk I think I will end up going with Honda, would you say they are just as reliable as the yami as long as you keep up on maintenance?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. Any Honda i've ever owned has been very reliable. My first bike, a 2014 CRF450R, I put 130 hours on it and just changed the oil and filters. As far as planted, it's really close. The Yamaha might have a very slight advantage but the Honda wins in the cornering category and is easy to change direction. It just feels more playful which many riders have said in shootouts. And the motor is good. - Chase

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 роки тому

      Any 250 is a good bike. Just depends on how it was taken care and maintained by the previous owner. 5K will probably get you a 250 roughly 3-5 years old and depending on the hours it has, I'd be asking if they've had a top end or bottom end done, when they last greased the linkage, swing arm, steering stem and other pivot points. Check the spokes and make sure there are none broken, check the rims for any really bad dents or cracks. As long as they've done regular maintenance, then you should be alright.

    what about a 250f (crf or yfz) for a 220 pd, local races, c class, +30 rider? Too small?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 роки тому

      220lbs is a lot for a 250F, especially if the dirt is sandy or soft and loamy. What do you currently ride? For a C rider, you might be ok. It's really hard to tell without seeing you ride. If I were you, I'd try to ride a 250 and 450 back to back and see which you like more. You can also get a KTM or Husky 350 and be right in the middle. - Chase

I like the features( tuner and app) I don’t know what this Honda rides like and that’s my worry. You will not be disappointed with the Honda. I've ridden them all and the Honda would be my choice. Yes, it doesn't have as much bottom as the Yamaha but it isn't far off and that thing screams on top! Suspension is just as good, it corners better, and is thinner feeling. But even if you find a good deal on a 19', DON'T do it. Get the 2020 for the better motor and gearing. I rode them both back to back and I'd honestly bet the Yamaha over a 19 Honda but not a 2020. #riderred

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 роки тому

      It definitely won't hurt to lube your cables. The 250R has a lighter pull than the 450 so be grateful for that haha. Which finger do you use to pull in the clutch? The middle finger has more strength than the index so maybe try that out. A good tip and one that I use is pushing my clutch lever in as far as possible so when I pull it, I'm grabbing the very outside of the lever. There is more leverage the farther out you go so it makes the pull easier, AND you won't break levers as easily if you crash. The WC connection levers have a really good feel to them and I love the bend. I don't know if it'll make too much difference in pull though. - Chase

I can get both feet on the ground and be comfortable. It’s all about getting used to planting one foot, which us short people need to learn to do. When we can expect 2021 crf250r review?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 роки тому

      Not sure. With COVID, we haven't been traveling and not getting invited to bike intros due to the restrictions. But I'm sure they'll be coming soon. This year with the new 450R coming out, I'm sure Honda is putting much more emphasis on that bike right now. But it'll be here soon enough. - Chase

      When he says 250f he means 250 four strokes in general not just speaking about the honda. 250f=four stroke, 250t=two stroke

      They are just referring to a 250 Four stroke when saying "250F". Sorry for the confusion!

      @@MX-CO No, I haven't yet. I'll probably wait for next year to get a new bike and continue on my Kawi til next spring. I have a map in my kawi that mellows out the bottom end and makes it much easier to ride. But a 250 is still on my radar. If I go 250, it's a honda or yamaha no question.

      With the 19', the gearing wasn't quite right. Second gear was just too short and that's why you would have to short shift it. But the 20 gearing is much better and you can carry the gears longer. - Chase

      Thank you Chase. I’m 55 years old, and do mainly fun moto track riding, and the JDay Offroad series in the Super Senior Class. I switch back and forth from my ‘95 CR250R, and really appreciate the way CRF feels when I hop back on it.
      I had an ‘03 CRF450R and truly believe the 250f is a much better fit for me. I totally agree with your assessment. Awesome upload as usual.

      Trust me, I wish they would! We get tired of riding the same tracks also. But to get a rig to another part of the country i'm sure is much more expensive and time consuming than people think. But you're right, it would be nice to mix it up. - Chase
