Well done! Really nice that you put a lot of effort in this. Even though I think a lot of “old” legends weren’t named, I think you described everything very well. 🙏🏻🔥 Thanks for spreading the word about our beautiful genre.
I really appreciate that you saw the video and commented on it. That really honours me! I tried to include the timeline and all the aspects in my research. Of course, the whole thing is subjectively biased and I could have invested more time in early frenchcore and its legends. In general, though, I think you get a good overview of the development and, above all, the different vibes of the eras. It's important to me to provide information and to capture the nostalgia emotionally with the right music.
I think it played a crucial role in developing frenchcore. It's underground and fits into the vibe. I strongly believe in the 90's and early 2000's this influenced the French Hardcore scene. So more commercial producers like Radium started implementing these kicks in their Hardcore tracks. But I got no proven data here...
This was my life from 16-30 y/o....it was literally my everything. Could not understand why anyone would want to be anywhere else on a Saturday night 🤯
@Mindprinter no you're right - the free party movement absolutely was where Frenchcore originated alongside hardtek. These all grew out of the hardcore, acid hardcore, rhythmic noise, techno, tekno and tribe you find at free parties. Jungletek/raggatek is a UK music thing that also came out of the UK free party scene (mainly Bristol and Cambridgeshire area. Main artists of this were Vandal and Mandidextrous) and then got exported to France to their free party scene. Hope this helps for a bit more background.
I do wish we could hit it back to Atari Teenage Riot but I played at Frenchtek (and a load of the other Technivals/raves) from 2003-2017ish. Always rude af! Thank you for drawing attention to how important French hardtek is in the development of electronic music. It was a truly beautiful time of my life...just started playing out again...now im sober. Why do you need drugs with this kind of music?!? 😂
First encountered Frenchcore and hardtek through a Japanese producer USAO. His music takes heavy influence from them and other genres. Because of him I eventually discovered not only Sefa and Dr. Peacock but other Frenchcore and Hardtek producers.
Thank you!! ❤ Edit: some of the best parties I've ever played are Frenchtek/Tehcnival events...Scum (London, UK) was always shit-hot till the Met turned up and beat the shit into all of us 😂
@@hollieBlu303 haha yes the Scumtek parties were really some hall of fame parties for us in the UK. So hard to get away with the large multi rig rooms now.
@@domtekos7761 I haven't been out since pre covid. Played a few clubs and stuff but it's mostly commercial shit work. Pays the bills but it's not really it. Nice to not get pepper sprayed tho 😂
@@hollieBlu303 yeah, know what you mean about the legal venues. It's never the same. Tbh covid changed things a lot and has really slowed down the UK scene. We did a freedom of information request because we didn't understand how or why the police suddenly seemed to be very on it with shutting parties down (sending multiple helicopters for even smaller parties!) And it turns out that during covid unlicensed music events became a huge thing, so they got their funding to deal with them upped massively. The figures were, top of my head now, something like 35-40 a year then up to over 400 a year classified as UMIs.
Great job, I loved this. Would be a good way to explain to friends & family so they can wrap their head around what im off to do on the weekends lmao. But I'll not try to have them understand
Thanks mate! Speedcore will be a thing in the incoming video. But first I will do a poll, which genre should be lightened next. I think a newer Hardstyle or Rawstyle Video would be interesting, the last is 6 years old... Terrorcore and Hard Techno could be also interesting.
@Mindprinter for sure I think an update Video on Rawstyle would be crazy too, since the genre is in constant change. Also Hardtechno would be interesting. Will be waiting for the next one, doesn't matter, what you decide 💪🤘
21:29 Euphoric and Main Frenchcore are definitely too cheesy for my taste. I prefer older Frenchcore like Radium and The Sickest Squad. I do wonder if both have a future, if they're mainly consisting of taking existing songs and making a Frenchcore version of it. Once the hype dies down, it looks cringy and not a serious music genre.
the french tekno folks make a teknival that goes through all of eastern europe all the way to my country "bulgaria" !!!its always underground ! Almost everytime is not known initially where eaxtly wiuld be the party !!!
The free Tekno scene is not just French. It has always been over Europe. Particularly there is a huge scene in Eastern Europe. Originally this all came from the UK and Spiral Tribe left here to go do parties in France and it spread from there.
Frenchcore ist meiner Meinung nach reine Komputermusik, da sie doch subjektiv sehr digital klingt. Und ja, "Computer" lässt sich auch mit "K" schreiben - genauso, wie "Disko"😁
If you want to try some good stuff, make an episode about the development of PolCore, which is a unique genre in the hardcore/spilltercore/extreme whit polish sumpel from underground SKRD - splitter core records dziwko
What do you think about the video? I like to got this kind of documentary/video about my favorite style... but can't agree with a lot said here. I think that's really the point of vue of dutch people on the genre. We can't ignore psiko, progamers, sickest squad... influence and yours of course. Also mention more sefa than Radium 😅😅 . But at least that's something
Here we go! 🎶 The history of Frenchcore 🇫🇷

Raggatek - technically tho. Ask Vandal 😂

I’m weird. I hate hardcore music with a passion but I’m fascinated by all the subgenres and all that deafening kicks.
I absolutely loved French core around the 2008 time. Master piss album. First few sickest squad albums. Amazing
your documentaries are always an absolute treat and a crazy nostalgia trip! thanks for doing this ❤🫡😁
That Greenday thing was pure STILTON 😢....at least it was a bootleg....and we're back to PROPER hardtek!!! YAAAAASSSSS!!!!! 👌🫨😵💫🫨😵💫🫨😵💫

This is insanely well done! It's so cool to see the developement and the variety of our favorite music genre.
Mad respect for the work. It was a pleasure to watch and I learned many new facts and stats about this beautiful genre :)
Die wellenartigen loud & distorted offbeat basslines haben mich schon immer an ganz bestimmten Stellen meines Körpers berührt :)

I like to think of Frenchcore as the mic between the two best subcultures in the world: Free Party and Hardcore !
