    I remember seeing this piece of hardware at a guitar center near me that is now a 24 hour fitness. The kaossilator touchscreen reminds of roland's TB-3 remake of the 303, in that there was a touchpad but I was never really sure what touching it in any given place would actually do but sometimes it did cool shit

    • @wowflower
      @wowflower  3 місяці тому

      lol i also have memories of these on display at guitar center. my local guitar center is still around but is a shell of it's former self. nothing but cheap shit for sale now!!

    so many creative ways to break this thing and create cool loops, I used to practice making beats on the highest BPM, record them to the channels, then bring the BPM to its lowest setting to get 'odd' time signatures (since everything recorded on it is in 4/4...) and it would sound so cool. the vocoder effects, especially the delay, sounds pretty halfway decent if you hook a guitar into it too. Lotta people shit on these for being impractical and unruly but if you get creative you can really work around its limitations and make some interesting stuff, like what you did. I remember being so broke I used the thing as a sampler with my guitar pickups and my phone placed on my bridge pickup lol! good times

    Great pick-up! I just downloaded the Kaoscillator app for iPhone for $25 - far cheaper than the used prices for Kaoscillator 2 and 2S ($200-$300). I love the gadget hardware and the pro, but it was more just an experiment for a video, so my budget was limited. Apparently, Korg was giving away the app for free many years ago 😠

    Dropping the comment! Actually it’s totally deserved as I really enjoyed that video! I’ve been interested in these for a while but thought I wouldn’t use it! Love the idea though! Was cool watching you get your groove on when it sounded good! Peace!

      its not great as a looper it just has some interesting sounds in it. the technology in it is pretty dated

    Because it’s an awesome device, then or now. (PS-If you a using it for “3 or 4 really good sound effects”/laser blips, you are pretty much missing out on the whole point; although glitchy loops are a bonus too)

    • @wowflower
      @wowflower  9 місяців тому

      im afraid it still sits in my signal flow only for its laser blips. i cant use it as a standalone device to save my life!

    I love mine because it serves my purpose. once I get my final piece to my video art puzzle I will be using it for background audio. I have mine hooked to my Straymon night sky. the psychedelic clips go with the psychedelic sounds of the kaossilator.

    Just inherited one, by chance. Looking around at some vids to see what learning I can pick up, this is a nice one, I like the sounds you made out of it. Love that JL quote, that's my intention here. Also reminds me of the little keychain toys we could get in the early 90s that made Lazer and other computer sounds, always thought I'd like to make something with them, now I guess I can have a good go at it. Thanks for the Vid❤
