- This pedal has lived on my 'precious things' shelf ever since I started this crazy UA-cam thing. It's a killer pedal and seems to have lost none of its kickass appeal in 10 years. In fact, it has waved bye-bye to a thousand other pedals that have visited, stayed and then eventually been shown the door. Michael Ibrahim, "MI" in MI Audio, has become a friend so the Tube Zone represents a lot of good things to me. Maybe it's time for a reissue...
One of the most underrated pedals ever. You can get just about any sound from it.
wow some ten-year-old pedal lust just got reignited
Agreed, best overdrive ever!
I loved my old MI tube zone. Ran it at 18v and it always sounded huge.
Awesome stuff man!
Great pedal
Actually there is also a great clean boost in there and my favorite pedal for telecaster pedal steel sounds.
Great pedal! SO versatile - and there's an internal trim pot for presence control! Blows away so many other boutique distortion pedals that I've tried since getting it new years ago.
This pedal takes my Brett away! I would love to here it direct in an amp.
Yes, a fair call, Rob. The following link will take you back to 2009 and a 'real' amp. I use the Axe-FX III these days because the difference (and choice) between it and a real amp is so marginal, I opt for the convenience and huge choice of the Axe. Go to: ua-cam.com/video/18SjPtJWJJo/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
Please Mi Audio make these again. I had a V4 tube zone and super crunch box. Both killer pedals
Mine lives at the end of my mini "drive only" (plus compression) pedal board and is flexible enough to "chameleon" into whatever I need at the time. Right now, it's a tonally transparent drive that can go into the front of any clean amp. Still a great pedal 10 years on!
I have a tube zone, megalith delta and super crunchbox. The tube zone slays the other 2. No other pedal I've tried sounds/feels more like actual amp distortion than the TZ.

6:44 - 7:04 = SICK!!
I have 2 on my board.. Not going anywhere! I can actually plug into the low input of my 2203, and recreate the same tone as the high. Plus i can use another pedal after it, a Solo boost. (Analogman BD-2)
It screams OZZY and HEAVY METAL
My biggest mistake was selling that pedal back in 2011 :( ...for a past few months I am searching the internet to buy it again but no luck... if someone can help please contact me ... cheers
edit: post the add on facebook that I am looking for this pedal and guy contact me, in the end it is same guy that bought it from me ... of course I buy it from him now ... woohoo it is coming home after so many years :)
That is version 3. Still on my board. I painted the controls black with white dots. Much easier to see what you are doing. :)
Got that right
it was really hot at my house today too...and I was really swollen too (".)
Brett Garsed pedal
Sounds a lot better than Crunch Box
The bright control sounds more like a presence kinda thingy....????
It was ment to adjust not presence (theres a trimpot inside for that) but to adapt the pedal between diferent amp styles. Mesa can get pretty dark and Carvin X100B on clean has too much high overtones. You can tame the pedal with this know in order to keep your sound consistent.
Are they going to make this pedal again?
The chances are high, TJ. If Michael sees enthusiasm from the USA for a reissue as well as locally, he might be coaxed into a 2019 run. It's a very fun pedal that has brute force.
@@BrettKingman This is a great pedal. You can't even find one of them used.
@@BrettKingman if that ever happen, this thing could give the revv g3 a hard competition
if I play directly to the amp, does the sound output remain solid?
Sure does. Can't beat it.
What other pedal comes close to this???
My guess? Blue Boy Deluxe. Has exactly the same Tone circuit than this TZ, it´s also an overdrive, same amount of knobs but smaller. Gain in the blue boy deluxe does not get as angry as TZ but you can always put another overdrive before and does preatty close. Best thing about both of this pedals is that clean exceptionaly with guitar volume knob. Try both at 18V for best headroom!!!!
Fair warning: Super Crunch box only runs on 9V!
