You mentioned in a previous video certain designs produce more "candy waste" than others. Maybe it's just me, but I would be willing to buy said waste. Especially for the more unique flavors such as lavender or rose.
Damfino assortments are usually made from that. I can confirm that while they're not as pretty as the rest of their candy, they'll still taste fantastic.
The thing I love about your videos is that they're more than just candy-making. For example, I came here to see the specifics of lavender image candy and ended up (1) wanting to go to Tallahassee and (2) listening to some excellent poetry. Keep up the good work! :)
Some days are tough, sometimes you need to just pop some headphones in and watch a couple of videos of Greg talking about his love for candy making Makes life a bit more bearable
@@TypeOneg Well they're certainly not going to do you any good sitting in the packet. Read a bit about growing lavender from seed throughout the fall/winter then try next spring. Make some mistakes and learn. They're just some seeds.
nice video!I'm glad to see your continuing the crystal candy flower collection, and we have a lot of lavender bushes in our back yard! also I voted for you guys in the poll
I've been watching these videos forever, and I finally caved and ordered some of the candy. I seriously can't wait to try out the crystal rose candy ... just don't tell my dentist, hahaha!
For the blossoms maybe make 2 batches of purple, one with the white added to make it the purple you have now, one without the white to have a darker purple. Alternating that should give a nice effect of individual blossoms with slightly different colours, kinda like lavender blossoms arn't identical in colour either! I btw assume you added white to the purple, considering the way it looks at 1:40. Instead of pulling it to make it lighter.
Hans Schreutelkamp Actually he added a type of acid to reinforce the flavor. Normally he will add it to the white, but as he's using clear, he added it to the colors!
I love when you talk about your life, family, and stuff to fluff up the quiet bits. It's really interesting to hear how the candy ties into your family or history.
Earl Grey is my favorite teas, of all the teas. Watching these videos are just so relaxing. Its like watching the candy version of that painter guy, who used to paint landscapes on PBS. He was SUCH a sweet soul, and his voice was so soothing. I'm getting those same vibes.
Hello from Washington State! Oh my! I had no idea that was your cousin and I go to that lavender farm! Do you think he'll start carrying your candies there???
I have been a big fan of this channel for a few years now, ordered lots of bags of candy. I visited my family in Georgia and realized how close Tallahassee was, so we stopped in for a visit! It was late at night (shop closes at 10pm) so Greg wasnt on duty, but it was still worth the show. Got to taste fresh tangerine candy. My wife also tried some of the ice cream there and loved it. They have a significantly varied menu with lots of choices with candy, ice cream, burgers, pb&j sandwiches, etc. They have loads of toys, games and throwing discs too. I highly recommend a visit if you get the chance!
I love rose and lavender. So much so that two of my daughters have Rose and Lavender as their middle name. I live in Washington State so will have to check out the Lavender farm. Thanks for the wonderful video. Any chance you ship? I would love to get some of the crystal candy.
I love both too! My grandma used to make me rose and lavender cookies. No one else wanted them. But she went trough the work to make them just for me. They were so tasty. I don't know the recipe though :/
I got some of the lavender candies in the mail! I can't believe how delicious they are! The Lavender isn't overwhelming or bitter and when it's mixed with the flavor of the warm sugar it creates such a wonderful flavor. Can't get enough!
I just can't decide why I like these so much. They kind of make me think of Mr.Rodgers, where he'd go different places and show you how things are made. The candy looks so good!
I live in a tiny town in Washington called Sequim, and annually we have this big celebration called the Lavender Festival, where the whole town gets decorated with purple flags and banners and streamers, people come from miles around, and a few streets get closed off for stalls that are set up by the local lavender farms. They sell lavender soaps, lavender lotion, lavender shampoo, lavender candles, lavender incense sticks, lavender toys, lavender clothes, heck even lavender frosting for doughnuts! But never, have I ever, seen a lavender candy quite like this! You are truly a master at crafting hard candies!
love not only watching the making of the candy, but I love the history lessons about whatever he is making!! also, this man has found a poem for everything!! lol super cool!!!
These videos never leave me unsatisfied! I love hearing the stories of how the candies are made and watching the art of it fold out I hope to visit one day to this lovely place
I really wish I knew about this contest or even these videos before it ended! I would have voted. I really like how genuine these videos seem. Very nice and chill.
I live in Tallahassee and today was the first time going to Lofty Pursuits. I saw the left over rose candy and was able to watch a few workers work on the black current drop candy. It truly tastes better when it is warm.
Hannah Brown well with the exception of tomorrow there should be a lot of candy being made all weekend. remember we close at 10pm, it's not unusual for us to be making candy until 8pm or so.
Dish soap is Nyx’s weird obsessed craving she gobbles it down by the gallon! Just ask her she’ll try to ignore you as she hiccups up thousands of bubbles looking crazy like a liquid-soap-waiting maniac!
We all want to, but we also know that if we did that, the heat from it would continuously burn our throat and stomach and we'd possibly even die from it if the case was extreme enough.
Something most customers don't have to worry about and those who do worry don't think to ask about: allergies. My friend is deathly allergic to all things lavender. Anything that that oil made contact with, without proper sterilization, could kill her.
They said it was a NEW thing, so I'm sure they MAY be aware but it's not likely that they are aware of DEADLY FLOWER allergies as they aren't commonly known of in general.
The product is new, but that doesn't change that they probably wash and sanitize after every batch of whatever they're making. So it shouldnt be a problem.
It changes when they need to deal with allergens. You have to do things BETTER when you work with allergens. You're literally just saying 'why bother mentioning this, I'm sure they're aware!' Why NOT mention it just in case they aren't?
My family used to have some patches of lavender at the side of our old home back in Washington state! My mom loved lavender, and we always had some on display in our house. :)
Julia Easter because learning about history is a good way to make sure the world does not repeat it's mistakes. That and not all plantations used slaves and it would be cool to see how people lived and worked in that era
Julia Easter my grandparents live near this shop and some old plantations. the plantations are actually kinda cool to look at because the houses are huge and there is so much land and some of them do tours kinda like a museum
Wow! I've been watching some of your older videos recently, and I just wanted to say how amazed I am at your vast improvement as a filmmaker. Of course, you're earlier videos are lovely and so fun to watch, but the quality of your more recent videos is just so spectacular!
I just love listening to your voice. I watch your videos because I work with polymer clay and I to make canes.... I like to look at your videos for inspiration. keep up the great work and I hope one day I get to visit Tallahassee Florida
I work at a tea shop, and we sell that same Earl Grey blend, and it’s my favorite too. I don’t know why, but these videos are so enjoyable, mellow, and mean a lot to me! I just ordered myself some of the crystal flower candies a couple days ago, and I’m super stoked to try them. :)
The idea of flower flavored candies sounds really interesting. You were saying in the rose one that they're pretty common in certain places but this is the first time I've ever even heard of them. Think I might actually get some sometime soon to see what they're like.
I love lavender in desserts, tea and sweets! Such a unique aromatic and slightly spicy flavor. I hope to be able to sample this candy from your online store someday 💜💜💜
i just ordered candy from here and it came today. I got the crystal rose one referenced in the video and some banana im literally in love ive never had pulled candy before and its just so good! the banana flavor is so immediate and well balanced i can't not smile when i eat a piece.
I just got my lavender candy, and I used to think when you said it was good it was just marketing, but I kid you not, THEY ARE AMAZING! Best candy ever, my dad was so happy because it brought back memories of when he was a kid and home made candy was common. It was so great, you got yourself a monthly customer haha. Delicious!
I accidentally stumbled upon one of these videos barely a week ago and I love em! What you guys do is insane and so awesome, please don't stop uploading!! I wish I lived closer, I'm in California
I live in Provence and honestly, just watching these candies I can say that they taste like ..... home. I'd really love to go to your shop, I can sense the hardwork, talent and passion from here (although, it's still half the world away from where I live so I don't think it will happen anytime soon)
I find these videos so relaxing to watch! I've watched almost all of them. I think candy making is an incredible process and I would love to learn! Keep up the good work!
On the Kingston side of the Edmonds/Kingston (WA) ferry there is a little crepe shop that does these wonderful Lavender Sugar crepes. Just butter and lavender sugar. I'd never had something with lavender flavor before that and it...takes a bit of adjusting to, however I now make sure to stop by there on every (rare) occasion that brings me over to Kingston. Lavender in a Latte isn't bad either, though most the already subtle flavor is overpowered by the coffee and milk, however the lovely smell still stands out.
I think a mint sprig would be really cool in this clear style.
+1 for the mint sprig!
Devon Haney Yessss, so refreshing-looking, all clear and minty! Do this!!
That idea is inspired.
csknives2140 hes right to, mint has no place in candys!
madscientistshusta where than? I think the overuse of mint in toothpaste ruined its rep lol. But I do understand you're perspective
You mentioned in a previous video certain designs produce more "candy waste" than others.
Maybe it's just me, but I would be willing to buy said waste. Especially for the more unique flavors such as lavender or rose.
I was just mentioning that to my husband!
I'm pretty sure they still sell those, like the bulb at the end of a design that isn't really the picture they want anymore.
Michelle Ahrens yes, they could make drop candies or something!
Damfino assortments are usually made from that. I can confirm that while they're not as pretty as the rest of their candy, they'll still taste fantastic.
They do sell the candy that isn't used for the finished product. They call them "unicorn droppings" haha
So you're a candymaker who is the cousin of a lavender farmer. Amazing!
The thing I love about your videos is that they're more than just candy-making. For example, I came here to see the specifics of lavender image candy and ended up (1) wanting to go to Tallahassee and (2) listening to some excellent poetry.
Keep up the good work! :)
And (3) learning facts about lavender and how it was a months wages

This guy honestly sounds so sweet. He's so passionate and it's adorable.
Wow.... I live in Washington State and I live extremely close the that lavender farm......
+Dishonored Gaming Say hi to my cousin if you go.
Me too, I’ve seen the farm before
I have been also
Is it the one with Harvest Hosts, I'm hoping to go!
Small world, huh?
Who else wants to live downwind from Joe's lavender farm?

Mmmmm.
I have lavender seeds but I’m afraid to screw them up by planting them.

this is my absolute favourite late night channel ever
I need like a ten hour montage of you cutting candy by hand, that is just so damn satisfying
I am absolutely amazed at how easily you make this candy! All I see is a giant log of mess. Then the pretty candies just magically appear. Amazing!
For the blossoms maybe make 2 batches of purple, one with the white added to make it the purple you have now, one without the white to have a darker purple. Alternating that should give a nice effect of individual blossoms with slightly different colours, kinda like lavender blossoms arn't identical in colour either!

Voted! I always find the candy they make fascinating and it's really cool to see it made step by step, especially this clear candy

i've watched 6 or so videos and i still don't see how he gets the shapes to come out the way he does. it is artistry.

bet the shop smells even more fabulous with that lavender!!
Another fantastic well made video with wonderful original unique candy. Makes me wish I could move there and apprentice at the shop!
I would LOVE to see violets next in this series. Theyre my favorite flower flavor!

I love this series! Flowers make me so happy. 😊 I'd love to try them all!! I'll have to try out Earl Grey with lavender... sounds yummy!!
